Okay, can I get some props for my maternal instincts, the ones that said, "I don't care HOW happy she looks, she SOUNDS bad, and we're not waiting for morning"? Absolutely. You done good.

Okay, can I get some props for my maternal instincts, the ones that said, "I don't care HOW happy she looks, she SOUNDS bad, and we're not waiting for morning"? Indeed. Because you are not someone to fuss over nothing, dammit. Julia, glad things are better.

"Cryoburn" by Lois Bujold, latest in the Miles series is available for pre-order from Amazon.
No date given on the order form, but down further it says:

So, I've put in a request to my library to purchase it, because I won't actually buy it until it's paperback.

We're good. Being discharged in an hour, since Em managed to keep her oxygen levels up on her own for 12 hours, and hasn't had labored breathing since they gave her the steroid treatment at about midnight. She's got RSV, which causes cold-like symptoms in older children and adults (and babies), but can lead to bronchiolitis in young babies. All so very tired, though. There's nothing like dealing with an infant who's EIGHT HOURS past her bedtime. Good job, Mommy. Glad to hear the little cutie is doing well. Try to get some rest when you can.

This is very exciting! I don't read comic books normally, but I really like the idea of Patton and Joss working together in some fashion. PO is so great as the talk show host on Caprica. I figured he was a major sci fi geek anyway because he does this rant in his stand up about how if he was ever given the power to time travel, he would use power that solely to kill George Lucas with a shovel. He would time travel to just before Lucas had a chance to make the Star Wars prequels. It is side-splitting funny. Excellent interview! His idea for a Firefly comic sounds very interesting. I was really impressed by his thoughts about Dr Horrible:

Oh, lord, thank you be. I tried and tried to watch that show (Franklin loved it) and it just put me to sleep with really stupid dreams (not frightening, boring: standing in line and having one's parcels come unwrapped dreams). I thought I was the only one! Julia, similarly, I have an answer to people who say Fringe is an Xfiles knock off: No, Fringe keeps me interested, Xfiles made me want to clean the refrigerator. It is so so so boring. Nothing happens! Or quite a lot happens but not strung together in cause and effect. It's about theme instead, and his psychology. Blah. I should care about his mind for why? It didn't bother with that bit. And then there's the sex scenes. Repeatedly. And the people dying. And the muddling the two up, pictures fading into each other and soundtracks muddled. And it thinks it's being clever. Teach keeps saying it's brilliant. It's not brilliant. Boo. teacher says in the last episode it ends up all making sense. so we'll be watching more of it next week. I've never seen The Singing Detective, but I know many folks do love it a lot. I don't think it is probably to my taste, however. On the other hand, I have seen Pennies From Heaven, both the televised and the movie versions, and do like that a lot (well, most of it, anyway). And Lipstick On Your Collar was really rather delightful, from what I can recall.

Denis Potter was always harsh, but brilliant. Jan and I loved him.. in small doses. Hi Scubes. Love and prayers to Emily. Kudos to Spring for considering foster parenting. Hugs to all who need it.

Just a quick note - Rachael wanted to let folk know she's not been around the last day and a bit because Emily is in the hospital with a respiratory virus. Emily's through the worst of it and has had breathing treatments to get her oxygen level back up. Now, it's a matter of her body taking a couple of weeks to get the rest of the gunk out. She may get to come home tonight, so fingers crossed for that! Oh, no! I'll be keeping the little sweet pea in my thoughts. Poor little woobie. Same here. And, huge props to Rachael for following her instincts and taking Emily for treatment right away.
