It's strange isn't it? For the bride not to get invited? But not unheard of. Did you ever hear mention of anything with the word "proxy" in it? Vlad **snicker**

OMG!!! Well, it had to happen sometime. That must have been quite an experience. It was. It was exciting and scary at the same time. I feel like I learned more today than I did in all of the practicing and OSCEs I did this past year. Congratulations!! Patients - how fantastic!

The two are probably not unconnected; any water weight gain will exacerbate pleurisy. But poor Kitty! What an embranglement of misery! Julia, staring at my last three pills and wishing for teleportation again. She's actually perking up - I just inquired as to her health, and she said she was "fine". Further inquiry determined that her chest still hurts, but not as much. I made a command decision; she's staying home from school tomorrow. Maybe I can get her an appointment for the echocardiogram, if I'm lucky, and anyway I think she needs at least another day to rest. If the school don't like it, the school can bite me; we don't take absences lightly and she's only kept home when she really is sick. My mom, on the other hand... Well, she didn't immediately jump to the conclusion that we weren't coming at all, but her response to the news that we couldn't stay all day was "Well, we'll see if we can work something out". I have news for my mom, she's not working anything out. She's not doing me any favors, and given a choice, I would've stayed home and got the rest of my grocery shopping done and all the chores I didn't get to yesterday, not gone up to Altadena and spent the day waiting hand and foot on her, not to mention providing emotional support, etc etc etc. I'm already exhausted, and her attitude is not helping. And I still haven't had my Mother's Day dinner out; that was supposed to be last night. Yes, I am immature and bitchy. So glad to hear that Kitty is feeling better! Continuing to send good vibes for her.

Anne - sounds like quite a scare with Kitty. Glad that it seems all will be well - vibes coming her way. Monnie - I think you should replace Gigi with this: OMG, this clip/ad? Funniest. Thing. SO FUNNY!!

Huh, funny what shows up in AskMeFi sometimes. I am always amused by the contrarianist position on Joss: "Everbody Else is Wrong, Wrong, Wrong!" Julia, otherwise known as "Other People Like Things I Don't Like and That's Evil!!!!" **snicker** Yep. With a healthy dose of "too many people like this, so I must say it sucks because now hating it is cooler". As opposed to just, you know, everyone calmly agreeing that they might like and dislike different things and that's just fine.

Hello all. Odd day; I spent most of it wrangling with an article on Dollhouse I'm working on, followed by a family graduation party, which is an exercise in awkward, seeing as I LOATHE certain people who always have to be present there and make sure people know they are present and poodle around them. Bad enough at a party; they did the same at my great-aunt's funeral. Assholes. Addendum: Grr. Argh. First: Must agree with Anne - poodling is a fantastic word. I must steal it! Second: Don't let the real Evil overpower the fun EVUULLL that is you. Don't give them the power to ruin your fun. They are miserable, you aren't. Some tricks I've used in these situation: -------- Be a "Desmond Morris" type observer, observing "wild life" in its "natural habitat." Observe "the effects of long term atrophy of the brain" or some such thing. Seriously though, you can try taking a really clinical, objective eye to the situation. --------- Tell yourself you are an undercover agent at the event. You must behave as if you fit in, so you aren't discovered - but you are really there to gather as much information as you can about what these folks are like. --------- Use your interactions for your writing . . . turn the grrr-argh experience into something useful by sort of . . . stepping outside it. Observe your reactions and words with an objective eye, as well as the actions and words of others. Plan to write a short summary of your experience later. Well, anyhow - I join your family in saying: Congrats on your graduation! OMG, these are such fun ideas!!!

Excellent excellent concert last night. Marc-André Hamelin was the guest conductor and Gilbert Varga the solo pianist!!
The music was dueling Strauss and Ravel. Richard Strauss' Don Juan and the STUNNING Ravel Concerto in D major for Piano Left Hand, then Strauss' Burleske in D minor and Ravel's crazed La Valse.
OMG, Varga was so amazing! On the Left Hand piece in particular. OMG!

Continuing to send good vibes for her. As the day wore on, she started feeling worse again, but not bad enough to go back to the ER. I hope. We just did a TJs run. I remember now why I don't shop at TJs on Sunday afternoon. and that's not even counting the people with cellphones who just have to block the aisles with their carts. Kitty's watching the Dalek episode now (yes, she is watching them all in proper order). I think she's hooked good and proper. By the time we get a new episode (in two weeks ) she'll be caught up and able to watch with us.

I'm tired. I hurt all over. I am very discouraged and depressed. Kitty is feeling poorly again, although not too poorly, I noticed, to play on the PC or watch Doctor Who. I guess when I call the attendance office tomorrow, I'll have to try to talk to a live person and find out how long she can be out before we need an actual doctor's note, because I'd be surprised if she feels well enough to go back to school this week. Poor kid, that means she'll miss the physics field trip to Knotts Berry Farm. Maybe she'll be well enough on Wednesday. I would really like to curl up in a corner and cry, but that would upset Certain People, and we can't go upsetting Certain People, because then I'd have to spend all the energy I don't have in comforting them. So tired. When is the tired going to be over? I will take my whiney bitchy self away now and shut the hell up.

Tired Sara is tired. And didn't want to have to be worrying about posting photos during tonight's Lost extravaganza. As a result, today's (very brief) photo post is already up and done. I'm sorry I missed yesterday's mega-post; I'm planning on doing nice calm relaxing stuff tomorrow, like looking at photos and writing and answering comments. Julia, whacked.

Hi everyone! It has been a busy week or so for me. I finished my invitations this week pictures can be seen in the scrapbook, and I went to a big family reunion this weekend. was a long day and went much better than I anticipated it going, but we had fun and hand delivered the invitations to my family and there was much complimenting. I hope everyone else had a good week. We're looking forward to this weekend because we have company coming from up north to celebrate Jas' 40th birthday, so I get to spend the week cleaning up the mess I made last week from sewing 50 invitations I'm rewatching Firefly. I started it last week as I was making invitations. I just finished Jaynestown. Much giggling and laughing made it hard to sew straight seams. I seem to be on a Joss kick right now. I watched season 7 of Buffy and then moved onto season 5 of Angel before I got to Firefly. Have to love Netflix.
