Just finished having dinner and a nice visit with Michelle! She is coming to the dedication tomorrow and spending the night in a motel near where the dedication will be. MONNIE: We had a very cute waiter! And the best part - guess what his name was? Yes, that right: Misha. And let me guess--Michelle flirted shamelessly with him? The girl cannot keep her boobs hands off a cute waiter. You know it, bb. Actually, I tried to surreptitiously snap a picture of him for you with my cell phone, but wasn't able to get a good shot. Dinner was dee-lish though. I had sushi and this amazing tangy tomato soup. Tomato soup sounds really boring, but it tasted like I was eating a fresh tomato. But, you know, in soup form. Yum!

**waves to Spring and Michelle** How wonderful that she was able to come to the dedication! And why am I not surprised about the waiter? Yes, it is wonderful. I wish she had been able to come earlier and I could really give her a full tour of the town. I did show her my office and she came by the house, and I showed her a little of the campus. It made her remember Onjel's memorable tour of U of M, and the whole pothole thing. Also, she claimed that her Michigan plates earned her the third degree at the hotel desk, where they asked her just what her business was in town. She was kinda put off by it, but hey, I mean, what can she expect? It still has to be a better experience than the last time she was in a motel in Ohio - the "Bates" motel in Lima. Now, that was truly strange and off-putting. I am so glad I was able to make it!! There was a whole thing where my garage jumped in front of my car and evilly ripped off its bumper, so I was going to cancel the trip. But thanks to my brother-in-law, some duct tape and several zip ties, I was able to go after all. As Spring pointed out, the hotel clerk was all up in my corn flakes about the purpose of my visit, but other than that, everything went well. The town is really charming, and I got to hang out with Spring. Right before the dedication of Vince's bench, it POURED rain. I mean BUCKETS. But shortly before everyone gathered at the site, the rain just stopped. It was really wonderful. And Spring was wonderful. She spoke about how much impact her son had on her life and the lives of others, and well, then there was a whole other kind of waterworks. I don't think there was a dry eye. Amazing stuff. After the dedication, there was a gathering with a slide show, and a display of Vince's artwork. Spring said that everyone was welcome to take a framed piece of art if they wish. Even though I never had an opportunity to meet Vince, I felt this desire to have something he created. I'm not sure how to explain it, but it felt right to have something made by someone that was so important to Spring. I feel very lucky that I was able to be there.

Thanks, Sue. Interesting indeed. I gave a little speech today also, at the dedication, and have posted it in the Admin thread for anyone interested. The dedication went great, even though it rained hard right before the ceremony, and kept rumbling and threatening during the ceremony - but it did not actually rain during the ceremony. So - YAY! Good turn out - really great to see Michelle, especially.

Tomato soup sounds really boring, but it tasted like I was eating a fresh tomato. But, you know, in soup form. Yum! What was funny was that for some reason, he hadn't told us his name. I've eaten at that restaurant several times (I think I took you there Monnie - Lui-Lui's), and the server always says his or her name, but he must've forgotten, and I didn't notice. But later, as we were finishing our meal, I overheard him introduce himself to some people at a nearby table, and I said to Michelle: "Did you hear that, what our waiter's name is?" And she said no, so I said: "Misha." That made her laugh and she decided to try to take a pic of him, but he moved too fast, and we didn't get a pic. He was a cutie pie though. I'm glad he did forget to tell us his name, because it's an unusual name, and if he had surprised us with it at the table when he first started serving, I think we might have laughed outloud, making total fools of ourselves and leaving him wondering just what was so funny about his name. Oh, and MONNIE: We decided our Misha was CUTER THAN YOURS. That's right. Yes, we did.

Yeah, I had a sense that people were crying, but couldn't really look at anyone, because I had to keep it together through the whole thing, and not get started myself. I am glad you found something you liked in the artwork to take home. People did take most of it, which made me happy. I still have a few pieces.

S'cubie vibes for the rain to hold off! Looks like it will, but I figured I might as well call in one of the Universe's most powerful forces. Vibing like crazy. Blessings to you and to all who attend via memories of Vince. Thanks, Sue! It worked like a charm.

Is this Monday? It feels like a Monday. I had to get up at 5AM, Husband's off to work, I'm doing laundry... *Checks Yahoo reminders* No, I have to move the car off the street before 8am. Street-sweeping day. Must be Tuesday. We watched some of Castle S1 over the weekend - the first two and the last one, then most of the extra stuff. The show holds up to re-watching quite nicely; NF's "writealong with a real hardboiled mystery writer" was especially hilarious. He has a whimsical streak a mile wide, that guy. Next I shall send my little DVDs out into the big world; Daria first, then my mom, who is currently watching Chuck for the first time. She said it's a bit slow starting, but she's getting to like it better. Mom's really taken with Morgan.
