Houston, we have no problem.
Happy Birthday, Shan! Thanks for the nummies, and nice to see you around, Riff!

You just continue to do that to taunt me with my lack of code-cracking abilities, don't you?!

Those are really great; I understand your problem with remembering the tripod, it's just one more thing to carry, which can be challenging. Julia, again a no rain=laundry day for me, ugh

I love this one. Not only can I hear it, I can smell the moss, funky wetness and warmed rocks as well as feel the chilly push of the water over my feet. Thanks for making me feel 7 again tonight.

Interesting article about a guy who parlayed his skill at tying realistic flies for anglers into a business that now supplies insect props to Hollywood.

Interesting article about a guy who parlayed his skill at tying realistic flies for anglers into a business that now supplies insect props to Hollywood. Now there's a career path I would have loved pursueing when I was young and obsessive... Julia, no butterflies at my house this year, which makes me very sad indeed

Twitter lets you know whenever something exciting has happened at the World Cup, as that's when we start seeing a lot of the Fail!Whale.

And the Understatement of the Month award goes to 24-year-old Rob Holmes, who was bitten through his tent by a black bear while on a fly-fishing trip in western Montana's Lolo National Forest: "My ear was bouncing off my neck. So I knew it was messed up, but I couldn't feel (the pain)."
Um, yeah... I'd say feeling your ear against your neck is a pretty clear sign that things have moved waaaaaay beyond "messed up" and well into "OMFGWTFBBQBLACKBEARELEVENTY!1!" territory.

In Missoula (which is between the Lolo and the Bitterroot NFs) there's a squad of people who go around and clean up under yard fruit trees (and fine the owners for the cost) to keep from baiting bears into town; I've seen bear scat in a parking lot on Reserve St. Julia, no way sleeping in a tent in Montana, for I am a coward.

Anna's at work. Franklin's at work (he was home sick yesterday). This is the first time I've been alone in the huse for a week or more.
Julia, all for a little moderation and a lot of regular scheduling in these things.

Repeat the mantra: "It's only a bathroom." [It's only time. It's only money.]
Guy is here fixing (hopefully) an area of tile that didn't look professional.
Template/fabricator guy came to measure cabinets and sink so he can cut countertop:
1. Cabinets are higher than previous cabinets, ergo backsplash will run in to electrical outlets. 2. Sink is a bit too big (I asked both the decorator and contractor before I ordered it) which won't leave enough space at the back to plumb the faucets.
Fortunately I have a very calm contractor AND the bid was "this is what I charge for you to have the final product as we discussed" so he will 1. move the electrical outlets up. 2. pull the just install cabinet out from the wall an inch. 3. fabricator will make countertop deeper.
The good news is that there was space to do this and the tile guy hadn't installed the baseboard around the vanity yet.
And they have now put new wallboard in the den ceiling where a pipe got a pinhole and leaked into the ceiling.
Diane and others can probably attest that every construction project has issues like this. But too many all at once.
I"m ready for this to be completed and get my house back. Probably about one more week (well, maybe the end of next week).
#whine.
