Got to meet Margo's new puppy, who is bouncy, charming, intelligent, tailless, and apparently Schnauzer and Poodle or something like that.
No name yet, but a fantastic line in fetching and making squeaky toy music.
Unfortunately, Ramona the oldest cat, hates her guts.
Julia, which is hilarious in its way, because the cat is all of five pounds to the dog's 15.

Cut out the sleeves for my new costume yesterday. Electric scissors are . Fraychecked them and left them to dry. Going to lunch with friend and will begin embroidery when I get back. Day with kidz planned tomorrow. Must call to see if it's still on. Hey, if you want to adopt me, I'm available! I'd rather be your sister than Ratbag's too! Can I be little sister this time? Because I've been thinking, it'd be really nice to be the one who gets taken care of instead of the one who does all the care-taking of everybody else, just for a bit anyway. But you're already taking care of everybody around you. Maybe we could hire somebody to take care of both of us. I think my fiber collage thingy is done. I'm going to let it sit and take another look tomorrow. I still need a hanger; the pomegranate stick will do for now, but it isn't quite right. Maybe it'll look better in the morning. Also I am very, very tired of the asshats who are setting off fireworks around my neighborhood. This has been going on since Thursday night and will probably continue for several more days. Shadow has decided that the safest place to hide from the bangs is in my little room, behind the door. I have to wedge a rubber doorstop under the door, so she won't get shut in by mistake. At least she doesn't expect me to join her. I've spent some July 4th evenings in the bathroom at the back of the house, on the floor, comforting a cat who's hiding behind the toilet. Gah. And there goes a police helicopter overhead, making the whole house shake. I really, really loathe this time of year. I'm already the older sister (by 30 years!!!) but not so much the caretaker anymore. Yes to hiring one for both of us! Did some experimental emborider on sleeve scraps. I think it will work out okay. Going to the daughter's in a little bit, so probably should get dressed. Clothes. In July. Why? Have to remember the henna kit. I have extra, but not enough oil to do as muchas I'd like. Wish me well on how this comes out. I haven't done henna on anyone in ten years and have forgotten much.

Just joshin', there, Anne. Agree Diane's math is probably off. Or she looks a lot younger than she is. Or you had your first child at 12 yrs of age . . . Though 30 years older than bio siblings would be pretty unusual. Not impossible of course - I mean, I was born when dad was 53, so it's doable - but unusual. Well, anyhow, Good Morning. AND . . . HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!!! [glow=red,6,300] [/glow]

So that's why that... and that, and... Actually, it explains a *lot*.

It's been a not so bad day. I walked to the market (so, exercise). I remembered to put out my 13-star flag. One of these days, I should break down and buy a proper Bear Flag Republic flag, but they're so expensive... I think my fiber collage block may be finished. I even put the label on the back today, all signed and dated, so it's officially finished. I can't think of anything else it needs; I've tried a few more things, but they just don't seem right. For the hanger, I stole, um, err, that is, found a paintbrush the right length in the family craft supplies. I sanded off all the markings, gave it a coat of Lumiere Super Sparkle (which is kind of translucent iridescent pearl), then spiraled some fancy rainbow rickrack trim from one end to the other, leaving a streamer at the bristle end, and added some other rainbow fibers, sort of like streamers of multicolored paint. Tomorrow I'll hang it up and see if it wants anything else. Himself and I did a run to Art Supply Warehouse this morning, so I have all the Pigma Micron pens I'll ever need, probably, a new white ink gel pen, and a very expensive block of hot-press watercolor paper. We don't go out to fancy dinners or on vacations (not that we could take the time away from family responsibilities anyway and we never did get our anniversary weekend my APs wanted to give us ), we go to art supply stores. Odd priorities, maybe, but they work for me. Himself barbequed bangers and chicken thighs and potatoes and assorted vegetables for dinner, and later he and the daughters are going to burn some marshmallows over the coals. I'll probably stay inside and comfort the cats, who are already upset by all the bangs (and it isn't even close to dark yet). Stay safe and un-blowed-up, S'cubies.
