I know, 'cause she'd have to be like, 100 or something! Just joshin', there, Anne. Agree Diane's math is probably off. Or she looks a lot younger than she is. Or you had your first child at 12 yrs of age . . . Though 30 years older than bio siblings would be pretty unusual. Not impossible of course - I mean, I was born when dad was 53, so it's doable - but unusual. Well, anyhow, Good Morning. AND . . . HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!!! [glow=red,6,300] [/glow] Hey, Spring, If you go by Diane's age according to her profile, assuming she's got thirty years on me, I am twelve. Oh. So that's why that... and that, and... Actually, it explains a *lot*. My profile LIES. Just sayin'.

And, for a change, puppy photos. We don't know what breeds Ziva is, but it was a good combination. Julia, 'zausted. She's very sweet. We, on the other hand, have two very unhappy cats. When last seen, Shadow was under Kitty's bed, and pretty much settled for the night. Patches is in the cave, aka big closet off the den, on the second shelf, farthest lefthand back corner, on top of the portfolio full of matboard and a stretched canvas. Fortunately it's a cheap one, the second of a two-for-one package (the other became a French memo board). I had no plans for it, which is a good thing, because it may not survive the twelve-plus pounds of fluffycat sitting on it all night. Poor kitties, they do not love the bangs and booms, and neither do I, at least the illegal close-range asshattery going on right now.

My profile LIES. Just sayin'. I figured as much. You don't look a day over... thirty. You certainly look younger than I do. And if I'm not much older than your children, you must've been a child bride. Seriously.

My dogs hate the booms; Ziva and Emma (Corgie) and Abby (German Shorthaird Pointer) were totally unflustered. I got to meet the new baby, too, which was extra cool. Julia, it was 60F and windy, which was oh so the wrong kind of cool.

One was a visitor in church yesterday--maybe somebody's sister?. I forget where I met the other. They were remarking on the heat in Nashville (duh). Although, it looks like we're missing the worst for the next few days that is up along the east coast.

And if I'm not much older than your children, you must've been a child bride. Seriously. Thirty what? Decades? Centuries? Believe me when I say I feel it. Actually, viewing your profile, you have more years than I thought you did. You certainly don't look it. I thought you were nearer my daughter (40). You're more kinda in the middle. I was surprised how few fireworks I heard last night. Really expected more noise. Some years it's sounded like being in the middle of a war zone. I slew a useful this morning. There was a huge pile of papers from the old house that had to be sorted into Important and Get Rid Of. I sorted. I found bonds. Cashable. I am so glad I didn't know about them before. Now, with funds as depleted as they are, I can feel a little more secure.

Today I feel very elderly; the bangs and booms and flashes continued until midnight or so, some in the alley right behind our house, so sleep was not so much. for slaying of the usefuls and finding of hidden treasure!

Siss-boom-bah!
A day off work. Yay!
Except so much stuff to do, and this stifling heat makes it hard to get motivated.
But back to the grindstone! In awhile. Taking a break to do some online stuff.
Good morning to all.

Good morning to all. Yo! Yeah, that is some serious heat. We actually feel not at all bad for summer: low 90's and slightly less humidity. Thus far July has been a lamb compared to the inferno that was June.

Even West Texas is coming in with temperatures in the 80's, much lower than June. Of course it's unusually humid, somewhere above 50%.

In fact, a number of interesting names attached to this show. Premise says (to me) that it could be good, depending on writing. Then again it could either be a yawn (I'm looking at you FlashForward) or a train wreck.

Sorry, copied the info and forgot to paste. * The Event is an emotional high-octane conspiracy thriller that follows Sean Walker (Parenthood‘s Jason Ritter), an Everyman who investigates the mysterious disappearance of his fiancée, Leila (Sarah Roemer), and unwittingly begins to expose the biggest cover-up in U.S. history. Sean’s quest will send ripples through the lives of an eclectic band of strangers, including: newly elected U.S. President Martinez (Blair Underwood); Sophia (Laura Innes), who is the leader of a mysterious group of detainees; and Sean’s shadowy father-in-law (Gilmore Girls‘ Scott Patterson). Their futures are on a collision course in a global conspiracy that could ultimately change the fate of mankind. Ian Anthony Dale (Daybreak) and Emmy winner Željko Ivanek (Damages) also star in the ensemble drama.

Yesterday was not the coldest 4th ever (it frosted the night before the one when Sam was a tiny baby) but it was terribly windy, and we got just enough sun that I burned the back of my ears (because about 7:30 everyone was sitting with their backs to the sun, in half-circles, to keep the setting sun out of our eyes). It's weird to have pasture growing in early July; not just green, but still ahead of the cattle's grazing. Julia, having made myself stay in bed and actually catch up on a little sleep.

They're forecasting 80F here tomorrow, for at most the second time this year; I've got to get the skylight curtained or it'll be fifteen degrees hotter in the house. Julia, unthrilled, to say the least.
