Julia -- The Diocese of Olympia would be where you are, yes? See: www.ecww.org/news_detail.cfm?NID=846Josh is the son of acquaintances of ours. His mom is very good friends with both of my SIL -- they grew up together as summer neighbors on Harvey's Lake PA and Carolyn even played with his older sister for several summers before we stopped going to PA. It's my diocese, yes, although the cathedral is in Seattle, St. Mark the unfinished, notable for being reposessed in 1931 and being used as Army offices during WW2. It's also known for its missions to street kids and sexual minorities, and for Compline services which are strictly by the book but which have become a place for seeking and reconciliation. I have no idea what Photobucket is up to. Here's the Wikipedia Commons link to a picture of the cathedralJulia, it's also the coldest active Church I've ever been in; one of my cousins was married there, long ago.

That was new, and awesome! My voting place didn't have tootsies. Or stickers. I voted, but I did such a lame ass job of preparing for it that I couldn't find any information on the state or local candidates in the time that I had and I don't feel confident about the voting decisions that I did make. Which is only marginally better than not voting at all. I suck.

That was new, and awesome! When I moved I never received my new voter registration card. Drove to three different polling places before I found mine. Nobody knew where it was supposed to be and the phone line to the authorities was constantly busy. However, I did manage to get all voticated in the end. I am well and truly voterized!

Well, we have a new Governor in Ohio, though I am going to guess, politics as usual. I guess I wasn't much into it, as I forgot to check until just now. But hey, I voted, so go, me. Another thing we have new in Ohio: A new day! Yes, it is now Wednesday, while yesterday, it was only Tuesday. The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and the squirrels are doing their thing. Good morning, S'cubies. My children's services contact and I continue to play phone tag, so nothing new to report on that front.

We have a new governor, and the senator I wanted. I don't want to go all OT thread, but I'd just like to say "Whew".
This was Kitty's first time voting. They grow up so fast...

So, my younger nephew (17 yrs old) was in a wreck on his way to school yesterday. It totaled his truck, but he walked away without a scratch. It was on the same narrow 2 lane road that my older nephew totaled his car on a few years ago, and the same road that Wendy and their three kids crashed and totaled their van on many years ago. I HATE that road. What happened--cars were getting backed up behind a garbage truck, so each car as it was coming up behind the truck was taking its turn to safely pass the truck once traffic from opposite lane was clear. So, Taylor gets up for his turn, not knowing that an asshat teenager several cars behind him has decided he shouldn't have to wait. Taylor pulls out to pass and this kid barrels into him, crushing his truck into the garbage truck and ripping off the roof. Thankfully, he had no passengers because if he had they would have been decapitated: His sister rode with him to school the day before, but for whatever reason didn't ride with him yesterday, thank god. We're all going to miss that truck, darnit. It was much beloved in our family.

I had a successful golfing day yesterday. Sometimes a couple weeks off helps your game. Many of the rest of the summer golf league (retired ladies, mainly) were inside playing Bridge and Euchre. Woosies. Might go out again today, if the sun decides to shine and warms things up a bit.
*hugs* to Monnie! Your nephew was so lucky to have survived that wreck without a scratch.
