So, my younger nephew (17 yrs old) was in a wreck on his way to school yesterday. It totaled his truck, but he walked away without a scratch. It was on the same narrow 2 lane road that my older nephew totaled his car on a few years ago, and the same road that Wendy and their three kids crashed and totaled their van on many years ago. I HATE that road. What happened--cars were getting backed up behind a garbage truck, so each car as it was coming up behind the truck was taking its turn to safely pass the truck once traffic from opposite lane was clear. So, Taylor gets up for his turn, not knowing that an asshat teenager several cars behind him has decided he shouldn't have to wait. Taylor pulls out to pass and this kid barrels into him, crushing his truck into the garbage truck and ripping off the roof. Thankfully, he had no passengers because if he had they would have been decapitated: His sister rode with him to school the day before, but for whatever reason didn't ride with him yesterday, thank god. We're all going to miss that truck, darnit. It was much beloved in our family.

We have a new governor, and the senator I wanted. I don't want to go all OT thread, but I'd just like to say "Whew". This was Kitty's first time voting. They grow up so fast... Hopefully we'll find out who our new governor is some time today... for you. Some of the races are going to take weeks, if not months, to sort out. Our Senator's opponent (naming no names) still hasn't conceded yet. According to her last public speech last night, they're in a "dead heat tie" . Yeah, at 52%-42% with nearly 100% of precincts reporting, and the race is still too close to call. Insane troll logic.

She's on a return flight from fantasyland right now. California, I still love you. Even if some of your initiative choices are...odd, offputting, and internally contradictive.

Julia, note: if you are in business management textbooks as a bad example, public life might not be for you!

I had a successful golfing day yesterday. Sometimes a couple weeks off helps your game. Many of the rest of the summer golf league (retired ladies, mainly) were inside playing Bridge and Euchre. Woosies. Might go out again today, if the sun decides to shine and warms things up a bit.
*hugs* to Monnie! Your nephew was so lucky to have survived that wreck without a scratch.

My daughter is talking about going to ComicCon. After all these years she's finally joining me in geekdom.
I'm so proud.
