Apropos of nothing in particular: This evening, I happened across Tavis Smiley interviewing Ambassador Joe Wilson and his wife, ex-CIA agent Valerie Plame, and suddenly it hit me - they're Chuck and Sarah as an old married couple. Well, I thought it was funny. [/colbert]

Happy Thanksgiving, all! If I survive the onslaught and don't drop right into bed, I will check back in later. Have a wonderful holiday.

Well, I thought it was funny. [/colbert] I could see Chuck, with or without Intersect, as a US ambassador. Actually, the Intersect might be an advantage if he was on a fact-finding mission.

Greetings of the Season to S'cubies and S'cubie Friends and Relations, and may you have a not-too-stressful Ritual Sacrifice With Pie Day.
Today we clean and cook things in advance. Tomorrow we move furniture and entertain possibly as many as seven guests, assuming Certain Parties don't bail at the last minute again. i will not smite the ratbag, i will not smite the ratbag...

Spring, I hope you don't wear yourself out--sounds like a big group is coming, expecting a lot of food! Is everyone bringing a passing dish? I'm going to a co-worker's house for dinner. I thought it was very nice that she invited me, since I'm so new to the place. Her 91 year old mother-in-law is doing all the cooking! I can't wait to meet her, she sounds like a dynamo.

Today I am most thankful that my daughter's ride to work (yes, the call center is open 24/7/365; people have questions about their cell phone every day!) learned to drive in Massacheusetts, and is ice-familiar. And that the current temp is the high for the past 84 hours, even if it is below freezing. And that Miko at Metafilter put a lot of time into this post exploring "Alices Restaurant" in detail. In about as much detail as you can get without watching the movie and a bunch of interviews and everything ever written about that song, although I suspect from the number of links that's what she did to put it together. Julia, also thankful that we'll have dinner around my dinner time, YAY

A piece of my life, that sentence. Happy Ritual Sacrifice with Pie, everybody!

*sigh*
37F, so there's that good thing.
On the other hand: lonely and bored, bored, bored.
Julia, filling the last minute between now and the next cooking step.

Dinner with family was wonderful. Incoming cold front storms that drove me home early not so much, but I'm home safe and sound and full.

I do turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, wedding soup, gravy, cranberries, and roasted red peppers. Then I assign appetizers, desserts, cold drinks, hot drinks, rolls, and a hot veggie dish. I had a 23 pound turkey! It came out really great - juicy, delicious! We ended up with 18 people. My house is not large, but it has an unsually big dining room, and all went well.
