co-op Fairtrade chocolate brownies are like concentrated brownies. There's only five in the pack but that is plenty because after one you actually feel like you've had chocolate. Is awesome.

When you centrifuge blood, the layer that contains all the white blood cells is called the buffy coat. True fact.

Heya S'cubies! I'm in Fangirl mode right now... So, I'm planning my Birthday Party. I' haven't had one since I was, oh, some where around 8. My Birthday always falls on Thanksgiving weekend, so there was always too much travel or family stuff or other stuff to have a party when I was a kid. Heck half the time I didn't even get cake. Had pie. So. This year we are having a party. And it's themed. I'm going to have a Firefly themed party! Everyone needs to dress up and we're going to have homemade chinese food, and probably have Firefly playing in the background. I'm going to make a cake like Simon's from Out of Gas, only not like Simon's cause it's going to be made with flour, not protein. We're going to make Bao, from Our Mrs. Reynolds and some version of Mudder's milk from Jaynestown. We also have various other Dim Sum recipes that we're going to put together Right now I'm trying to figure out decorations. Do you guys have some ideas? Suggestions? Recommendations for recipes? Hi, Angelique! Well, I have only seen the move (Serenity), so I know close to nothing, but I googled, and found this: Food Stuffs: Nutrient Bars, which is the offical Alliance name, were referred to as foodstuffs by Mal in Serenity (the pilot). Shaped like a gold ingot and wrapped in foil, each bar can provide a month's worth of nutrition for one person (according to the Serenity RPG; we can assume the ones Mal lifted were supersized). They aren't all you'll need (you'll still need water and additional calories), but with the vitamins, minerals, immune supplements and such, eating them will let you survive on a much smaller diet. I think it would be fun to make "nutrient bars" like this. You could also name the food to correspond with the theme, like Simon's Effete Eclairs (sorry, Erin - I had to do it!!), or Jayne's Hot & Spicy Meatballs, Joss's Meaningful & Deep Dish Pizza, etc. Maybe a cake shaped like something . . . Serenity, or one of the guns they use. Well, I am not knowledgable enough to go any farther with that, but there ya go!

Once again, my coffee cup is empty and the coffee is all the way over in the kitchen...
Julia, and I have to get my hair washed, so when I get up I should just keep moving until that's finished. Where is that robot when you need him? [The one in the Hugh Jackman-esque body, preferably.] It would be perfect if said robot would also scrub the top of the stove. Julia, probably something I will do tomorrow, as today is eye appointment and washing the clothes I spilled food on yesterday.

I second that emotion. I miss those. But I may be lacking in the taste department, because I also miss bacon-flavored ramen. And Frazzles.

But kudos for remembering that far back! That's dedication that I can admire.

Today's tally of usefuls slayed: Last load of laundry is in the dryer. In the course of my erranding, I returned The Husband's books to the Yorba Linda library so he won't have to remember them on Thursday when they're actually due. I wonder if the librarian fainted with shock at getting them on time? He's usually several days late. I'm too tired and shaky to work on complicated poet's shirt construction sewing. I decided instead to work on my votive candles wrapped with handmade (not by me, alas) paper and got all eight of them done after lunch. They're those tall Mexican votive candles; I got two each in red, green, white and blue. The red and green ones have white paper with what I think are juniper twig inclusions, the white ones have white paper with bamboo leaves, skeleton leaves and some kind of flower sprigs, and the blue ones have white mulberry paper with gold stars printed on it. Sometime I want to try decoupaging scraps of fancy paper onto the candle glass like stained glass, but that's for another day. When they're dry, I'll tie paper ribbon in coordinating colors around them. I'm going to give one to each of Emma's regular caregivers and the rest to family and friends. So I can cross that holiday project off the list anyway. And I ran the Adaware monthly full sweep, which takes nearly three hours as opposed to the weekly smart scan, which takes ten minutes. My new updating plan is working pretty well, though; instead of updating once a week and taking an hour, I check for updates daily. Today the updates took five minutes, so I guess it was a good idea. I shall now go and document my candle-papering procedures and file them in my papercrafts binder, so I won't have to relearn all the helpful tricks next time. Is it time for bed yet?

Monnie: Continued good vibrations for Peanut (such a cute picture!) and you. S'cubies: *hugs aplenty for anyone needing them. Diane, Anne, Julia and Be, that means you guys for all the annoyances and problems of the days. I'm gonna take one anyway, even though my shoulder is much better. 'Cause I like Onj hugs.
