So, do you think that he is Rachael's David? I guess -- given the book topic? The combinating is suggestive, so to speak. Ack! Fix the spelling of her name in my quoted post please. edit: done.

We just watched Dr Who, followed by Fringe. I am now thoroughly mindboggled. I'm going to have a glass of white zin and find something to read that won't further strain my brain, like maybe a nice quiet mystery I've read before. That would do it. I have a theory re Fringe: Peter got rejected by the machine because he needs to approach it WITH Olivia -- which is what the strange guy was saying ... as long as Olivia is with Peter. On the other side the blood of the baby combines both (even though they made a big deal about editing out Olivia's DNA).
Walter's prayer was very touching. Quite interesting in light of it being Easter weekend: "Take my son but save the world."

Happy Sunday, Happy Easter, Happy S'cubiedom, all! It continues to be gray, gloomy, and rainy around here, and I see a river on the rise . . . but we should be able to get through the day without major flooding. The coming week, I'm not so sure. I can't remember when we've had a spring with more continuous rain. Wet, wet, wet, wet, wet! I have some knee-high grass by the side of the house I haven't been able to mow, because it never dries. Oh, well - I guess it will bring May flowers.

Walter's prayer was very touching. Quite interesting in light of it being Easter weekend: "Take my son but save the world." Yes, the machine needing Peter and Olivia is exactly what I said at the time. I also wonder if the machine, having been given the baby's DNA at startup, rejected Peter's because it didn't precisely match.
I thought the Walter's prayer scene was (a) very well written and acted and (b) an interesting departure from the general rationality/science over faith vibe of the show.
I also said as soon as we saw the pair of them being happy that something bad was bound to happen. Joss has trained me well...

I met a pocket Spike! ;D
Firefly and I just got back from a cruise on Royal Caribbean and it was awesome but what I needed to tell you about was one of the acrobatic performers. He was amazing, strong and elegant, with bleached blonde hair, dark brows and cheekbones I could see from the audience. I even asked Firefly who he looked like and she immediately said "Spike!"
I saw him later in one of the restaurants and he's TINY. Like 5'4" of compact yet well muscled.
On the last day I saw him and his partner at breakfast and stopped to tell them I thought they were great and he had big cornflower blue eyes - like almost fake contact blue. And he spoke with an Eastern European accent.
We were leaving the ship and I didn't want to pester them (it as their last morning on the ship too - their 7 month contract was up) but now I wish I'd asked their names because I'd love to see where his career goes. He is really talented and not just in the looks department. The cruise lines really need to start issuing programs with their shows.
I have to say his partner wasn't as good as he was though she had kind of a quick, hungry way of moving that was an interesting counterpoint to his elegance.
I found their best segment on YouTube. If you watch closely I think you'll see Spikey vibes.
And this video summarizes our cruise really well even though I don't know this guy and he was on the ship 2 weeks earlier than us.

I ended up going to bed after midnight, anyway, since I was trying to find anything recent at all about Silver Spangled Hamburgs on the BackYardChickens forum. Good thing I'm broke: there's a flock of nine of them for sale up in Graham. Julia, much saner than some chicken keepers, who would have jumped at the chance and gone without groceries.

You harbor a not-so-secret desire to collect all the fun and fancy chickens, don't you?

Well, hey there you! A pocket Spike, eh? Sound like fun! In more than one way. It's an excellent routine in the vid - and I see that the group worked with Pink, helped her prepare for the Fun House tour, I imagine? Very cool! I'm glad you had fun on the cruise!!

Yay for a successful presentation! Who did you present it to and did you get paid? I bet the sassy new shoes were totally worth all the pain. Popular Culture Association/Southwest/Texas PCA conference...for free. And yeah, they were worth it. You know you're going to have to give us aaaalllll the details.

Julia, feathery things in general, you know? Only no Emus.
