Post by Anne, Old S'cubie Cat on Jul 3, 2011 21:54:04 GMT -5
Long day. Very, very long day. Fluffycat started banging on the door around 4:50 AM. I staggered to the door, grabbed the spray bottle, and nailed the Pestilent Feline. Ten minutes later, she tried again and got the same response. They got fed at 5:30, as is customary. I completed Aged Mum's shopping, checking the soda aisle just on the off chance, and found that Ralphs has diet Vernors again. I guess my complaint to management, and, as it turned out, that of one of the checkers in defense of the customers, did some good. So I bought her two more six-packs because it was on sale, and she drinks a lot of the stuff. Husband and I spent the day at Aged Mum's; we got the livingroom cleaned up - lugged boxes of books back up to the attic because there's no point in keeping them accessible when her book-buyer guy can't take them home yet, reorganized behind her desk to make space for her important file boxes, and got the fan into the high window for the summer. Which turned into a massive enterprise requiring unplugging and replugging various and sundry lights here and there. It's an old house, and all the plug-ins are of the two-prong variety, so there needed to be adaptors. But at least we got rid of the very dangerous frayed extension cord. Also I have the ancestral Masonic sword to mail to my brother in Canada as soon as I find proper packing materials, and a small square ancestral table to find room for here. It's a nice table with a marble top, very sturdy, but we'll have to move things around for it. Very tired, very achy, very hot, and not the good kind of hot. I'm trying not to worry about the future right now; Aged Mum needs full-time care, and she's getting more helpless because she won't go out and she won't do any of her exercises, and the house really isn't safe, and at some point she's going to run out of money. But I just can't deal with that right now, so I'm trying to put it away for later. Right now I have Younger Daughter wisdom teeth removal coming up next weekend. Sufficient unto the day, and all that. Keeping lots of for you. Thank you kindly, dear Lola! Is anybody else watching Leverage? Two episodes so far this season, each wonderful in its own way; I think this is the one bright spot in my week, and I hope it stays that way. Nate as Ellery Queen as played by TH's dad Jim Hutton. Wonderful, although I wouldn't have minded seeing him as Archie Goodwin, either.

Spoiler to I had to look up photos of Jim Hutton as Ellery Queen, and yup: Jim's still prettier than Tim, sorry, younguns. Julia, just came to post that.

Who knows Milwaukee? If we spend 1.5-2 days there total what should we visit? I do not know Milawaukee, but I remember LaVerne and Shirley lived there . . . so I would say have some schlemeel and schlemazel, and check out Hasenfeffer Incorporated.

Hey. Happy Fourth, everyone!!!
Had Zak in ER on Saturday and I've spent the weekend watching him closely and taking care of him. Either he ate some rat poison (suspicion is bleeding into the abdomen) or he's got something else. He resumed eating on Saturday after the ER stint but seems to have forgotten how to drink. So, I give him water using a syringe into his mouth. *sigh* Ultrasound tomorrow after court. Sorry to have been gone on this most auspicious of holiday weekends.
Hope everyone had a good time. *hugs*

So, courtesy of my parents DVR, I've been introduced to Royal Pains, White Collar, and Covert Affairs. Covert Affairs is pretty interesting, White Collar Moderately so. Royal Pains seemed rather slow and broadly written.
Also watched some of the most recent episodes of Burn Notice; hard to believe that that's been on 5 years already. I like how they moved things forward and where the show is going; though obviously I'm a little lost since I haven't watched any of the last 2 seasons.
