Love these! The goofing around/mugging shots are very fun - and the scenery? Gorgeous! Both the foreground and the background are beautiful! Awww! Bless your heart. We had a good time.

Oh...and I have not had any major life changes lately. And I like it that way - I've had more than my share in the past 15 years. Saw Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks the other night (Tedeschi Trucks Band.)- and it was rockin' good. They recently married each other, and she is becoming quite the guitarist from his influence, and already sings like Janis Joplin, so it was amazing. Plus, the Chicago Theater is a great venue - small enough and laid back enough, but with all the great old ambiance. The Preservation Hall Jazz Band from New Orleans kicked off the night - and they are an amazing ensemble of great jazz players who tour the country basically promoting jazz. Ooh lucky! I like Susan Tedeschi--she has a great gritty voice. I haven't heard her new stuff though. I'll have to check it out. I'm going to go to a benefit concert in September with a friend called "Wild Women of the West." I don't know any of the performers, but it sounds like it's going to be blues, folk and rock. I'm up for that!

Just wanted to check in and let everyone know both me and my family made it through Irene just fine. Lots of flooding in the area—I'm actually home from work today because of road closures—but nothing that impacted either my apartment or my parents' place. We all feel very fortunate, especially when we see footage or pictures of the parts of Bennington and Manchester where the rivers went crazy. Heck, there used to be a little sand bar with trees and other plants in the middle of the river I cross twice on my way to work--no more. Glad to hear you're OK! I was thinking about you! How is your brother? How is your grandma? I miss your updates.

Small project attempted: the gluing-on of fancy paper to the sides and handle of a 7 Gypsies library drawer that sits in my nightstand. Project all completed but the sealant, which goes on after the decoupage medium cures. Tomorrow, most likely, although in this weather it could be sooner. Next, the four library drawers in my atelier, to be embellished, if all goes well, with the celestial-pattern giftwrap that matches most of my hatboxes and little storage trunks. I love the little drawers; I've been picking them up at Aaron Brothers when I have a 50%-off coupon and using them wherever I can find an excuse. I can't take credit for the idea, I got it from a craft magazine. But at least I'm using my choices of papers; the artist there used a chintz pattern, which, while pretty, which is not my thing. I used some purple paper with silver-copper-and-gold splatters; I think it's Japanese.

(Googling the line-up - and I am green with the Big E!! ;D)

Good, I've been a bit worried: NPR this morning was all about flooding in Vermont!

I fell for Susan Tedeschi's voice when she was on Austin City Limits, and Dickie Trucks is like the whole Allman Brother's Band condensed and grown up healthy. What a band, there, too! Julia, going to have to find me some live music somewhere somehow.

I'm in Cheyenne, staying with my relatives. And they have wi-fi, wee! Hoping I can also get all my residency papers squared away while I'm in town, so I can officially become a Wyoming resident. Howdy, Liz! Yay for the wi-fi!! Now all you need are the cowboy boots! I'd say yay to boots, except for an aversion to all conventional style shoes now. A hat may come with time though. ;D Schedule is pretty light, this week at least. My preceptor said he'd rather I focus my time on studying than spend the whole time working with him. Which is fine by me; I've still got a lot of studying on my plate. I managed to get my car title, car registration, and voters registration today. Just the drivers license is left, and then I'll be an official Wyoming resident!!!

How is your brother? How is your grandma? I miss your updates. Greg's doing fine. His immediate supervisor returned from maternity leave today, and apparently as folks welcomed her back they told her what a great job he'd done in her stead. So that's very cool. My grandmother... That turned into a saga and a half—things got pretty messy for a while. But now she's living in an independent/assisted living center, and so far seems to be settling in okay. It's a really nice place, and I think if she keeps an open mind she'll enjoy being there. Big if, of course.

Just a quick hi! Busy, busy, busy, busy!! Two girlies, one doggie, one guinea piggy . . . they keep a body movin'. Will try to find some time to post more soon! I would really like to do a PR dress sometime this season, but it is looking hopeless. I really miss Vermont, too. I have to find a way to get back there. I wish I was leaf-peeping this year.
