The problem with having lots of awake hours before its time to get up for college is it gives me longer to not want to go at all. today I've been awake since midnight. and there's only 90 minutes of teaching now, so it may well take longer getting there and back than I get in lessons once I am there, and I kind of wish I hadn't noticed that because motivation is hard enough to come by without doing the math. Perhaps it's a good thing I've always been poor at math. Baby name has been announced. Hold on to your hats. *drum roll* Baby name is.... Robert. Bobman is SO proud.

Just sayin'.

The Bobman looks darned well dashing in that picture!
And Robert is a good name for baby boys, not a lot of them aroud any more- like Jan, it's woefully underused.
Anne, at least you weren't awake before the alarm went off? I dunno- I've taken to keeping track of a running tally of whose turn it is to let the dogs out in the wee hours, because everyone else in this house can go back to sleep except me.
Julia, I can dial Anna's cell phone without waking up, yay me.

For once, yes, I was actually asleep when the alarm went off. So of course he had to wake me up, poor baby, yes, I'm such a bad wife giving him all that extra trouble. I think I got everything on Aged Mum's shopping list (so far, there will be more). Bets she changes her mind about something, or decides I got the wrong sort? Then there was the Curious And Annoying Incident of the Gloves: Aged Mum says "they" (ie, the caregivers) say I got the wrong sort of sterile rubber gloves last time. Me: Okay, what kind should I get? AM: The kind you got before, they don't like the kind you got this time. Me: But I got the same kind this time as last time, the big Rite Aid box. What kind do you want? AM: I don't know, the kind you got before. Me, through clenched teeth: I only ever got the one kind, what kind do you want? AM, with a heavy and martyred sigh: Well, I guess I'll just have to ask them. AM, next day: Never mind, the ones they didn't like were the ones *late aged neighbor's* caregiver gave us. Me: ETA: As I predicted, Aged Mum didn't tell me exactly what kind of Kashi Go Lean she wanted. Turns out she wants "the kind with caramel"; I got the regular sort because that's what she said she wanted. I got the heavy martyred sigh routine, "Oh, I guess I'll just have to eat what you bought, don't worry about it..." Damn right she will, if she can't be arsed to give me specifics. Also I discovered when I got an automated call this afternoon that the Elder Daughter really wasn't paying attention last evening when she called in her prescription refill. Instead of calling the mailorder pharmacy, she called the regular one. Which means that I have to (a) get her Kaiser card and (b) make a special trip up there tomorrow or Friday to pick up her prescription. No, she can't get there herself, there's no transit that far north and it's way too far not to mention hazardous to walk. But that's another issue entirely, stupid shortsighted OCTA planners...

Well, Anne I know where your karma went: Jim has it.
He had to go do a thing in Chicago -- very similar to a Ted talk -- 1500 doctors in a huge room at the Hyatt in Chicago and was being video-taped. After the talk there was a reception and he was booked out of OHare at 10:10 tonight, arriving Nashville at 11:45 PM. Wasn't even going to come home because he has to be at the Nashville Marriott at 8 AM tomorrow morning so he's just going straight there.
Well, as the talked ended he got word from American that his flight was canceled. (Karma #1 -- is when they give you 4 hours warning instead of waiting until you get the airport and stringing you along with delays) Karma #2: There was one Southwest flight left in the day with seats at 8:35. Karma #3: Traffic was bad so he jogged to the Orange line which came 90 seconds later. Karma #4: He just became an A-List passenger this past week -- which gives him a priority line going thru security and better seating.
So he made it to the airport just in time to see his new plane arrive and he will be back in Nashville at 10:10 instead of just living Chicago then.
I guess he missed some of the reception but I don't know if that was even a bad thing.
Meanwhile American rebooked him on a flight tomorrow morning THRU REAGAN airport in DC, arriving at 1 PM tomorrow. So I called and now that has been credited and pretty much covers the cost of the Southwest flight.

Went to see new baby last night, but he's still in ICU and only the parents can go see him. But we had nice visit with them and their bfs.
Would have been much better had I not injured my eye earlier in the day. This is something that has plagued me since my 30s. I have dry eye and sometimes the lid sticks and tears the sclera. Inconvenient, painful, extremely light sensitive and it made driving a bit of a hazard. However, still had medicine from the last time it happened and which hadn't expired yet. Much, much better today. A little swollen and teary, but no pain, I can see pretty well and that nasty photophobia isn't bothering me.
Aging. Sucks.

Last night was 100% reality TV for me, how times have changed: Work of Art, Top Chef: Just Desserts and America 's Next Top Model, which are mostly Anna's picks except the first.
Weird, weird life, this one.
Julia, forgot to start the coffee maker when I let the dogs out so breakfast is not yet within me.

Shadow asleep in the sun: I have slayed usefuls and even started a project. It's a not-sucky day. *Looks around for falling shoes* Also I uploaded a second picture of the acorn-and-oak-leaf pins to that post (scroll down a bit) to show the construction from the back, if anybody's interested. Still watching Person of Interest. It's sort of a "procedural" but differs each week. Cavezial is soooo gorgeous and intense and smouldering. Emerson is such a fine actor. But having a hard time with the "hero" being a flat out vigilante .

Dude. I cannot believe that we're still on the same thread. It's a warm day and my preceptor ended early today, so I'm in the park using the hospital's internet. Only now it's starting to cool off and my battery is low, so I don't know how much longer I'm going to stay out here. Tomorrow is the last day of my neurology rotation. I've really enjoyed this rotation, partially because the brain and nervous system are really interesting, but also because I've really enjoyed the folks I'm working with. I think I've made some really good friends and allies in the WY health care community that should be really good for all of us going forward. On Monday, I'm starting Cardiology, also in Casper.
