Karen, the Illinois thread at BYC is scarry quiet- fewer posts there than here since I asked for information, and then what I got was a link to a national small-farm retail website. Meanwhile, there were about a thousand posts on the Washingtonians thread, even though there was the worlds most polite flame war and the thread was shut down for ten hours Life is very strange, thought sure I'd have found eggs for you by now, but apparently Illinois chicken-farmers are not internet savy, or something. Julia, so very odd, I don't know what to think

Julia, so very odd, I don't know what to think That is odd. I don't wonder that folks around here are afraid of being targeted for raising chickens, even though it is perfectly legal. Thanks for the effort, Julia. A quick google, and I think I came upon your post on the Backyard Chickens Forum - are you "stumpfarmer"? I see a few eggs for sale signs on the backroad to Nick's place. I'm going to jot down numbers next trip up and give them a call. Weird times we live in. I've been keeping an eye on the OWS group on the livestream site for about a month now. I worry for those kids - such sincere-hearted 'Davids'. They could be mine or your children.

Julia, BYC is... HUGE PLACE, and about 75% of google poultry info. Sort of frightening

Seriously? Do we really need to see the Qaddafi killing on our network news stations? I thought they only showed that type of thing on Youtube. Best of luck to the newly minted country. They are going to need it.

I don't suppose any of you helpful people might have a copy of the current Science from which you might be able to scan the article about the rexamination of data from the Manis Mastadon site and send it to me? Julia, because I'm really really interested in reading it instead of popular articles about it... I don't have the magazine. Maybe this article has more info on it: qmackie.wordpress.com/2011/10/20/manis-mastodon-a-13800-year-old-archaeological-site I hope the link works for you - copy and paste it into your browser. Dang. Illinois is at 10% unemployment. Officially, anyway. It's probably more like 18%. Why am I watching the evening news? Off to watch Big Bang and hit the hay. *hugs to all*

They are going to need it. As in the Saddam Hussein and Bin Laden deaths, I plan to avoid any and all video visuals. Some things should NOT be broadcast and the executions of monsters are among them (as is the sad death of a two year old run over in Beijing). There is no need to feed the foulness of fanatical followers. Diane, albeit alliterative, just sayin'.

You know, if a cold was going to show up and kick my ass, the least it could have done was wait two more days so I'd have had a legitimate reason to not attend this weekend's trustee events...

There, dear, it's not the end of the world (warning, Danger Will Robinson, link leads to skeptic/atheist site). Again. *snickers, rudely* Did anybody like my cat picture, back on p 21? Because I'm kinda happy with the composition (but please pay no attention to the suspicious spots on the carpet ).

I loved the cat pic; I've just been too much of a zombie the last two days to muster the brain power to string words into a sentence. It was really nicely done.
