We'll be the fuzzy-haired avengers! Your hair isn't fuzzy. It's fierce. You have fierce hair. I thought we settled all that years ago. Heh. That was before I moved to New Mexico and it's complete lack of moisture. Now fuzzy is all I can manage. And my hands are a crying shame. *sigh* Apparently, only in the wrenching midwestern humidity does the true fierce emerge. Oh, and let me tell you how amazing I thought your post was. Actually, I think you're amazing...you guys teach me so much about picking up and dusting off and moving forward, even through the most difficult or dark times.

S'cubies We gots rain again, and thunder, and a rainbow this evening. I am officially insane. Or resigned. Or realistic. Take your pick. The Younger Daughter finished her rewatch of Dr Who (the Matt Smith ones) and is casting about for something else to watch while she eats dinner (I told her she has to eat one dinner a week with the family, but for the rest she can watch TV in the den with Patches). She mentioned perhaps wanting to watch Castle, but Aged Mum has our DVDs, and since she's introducing her new caregiver to the wonderfulness that is Nathan Fillion, I don't think we're likely to get them back. So I just ordered a complete second set of Castle Seasons 1-3, with the full approval and connivance of The Husband, and the eager encouragement of the Younger Daughter, who wants to watch them. I think she's seen Dr Horrible, but not Firefly. Yet. I'm working on it, I'm working on it... So Aged Mum can keep one set of DVDs, and we'll have our own, and when the current season comes out, I'll just have to order two sets. At least it makes AM easier to shop for; I've already promised her Doc Martin S5 for a belated Moms-Day present. I did suggest Younger Daughter try Leverage; I suspect she'll like Hardison and Parker, at least. She said she'd consider it. Anne, subverting, perverting and generally leading offspring astray for more than twenty years...

>snipped for brevity, but not for content< From that moment everything was different. I realized I was ready to began dating in earnest. Then I met Bob. Then I realized I was ready to love again. Then he moved in and the realization came that life with someone didn't HAVE to be filled with drama. Bob's being widowed meant that he would understand when I grieved. His being retired showed me that I didn't HAVE to be chained to a job I never liked and had grown to hate. His willingness to explore my crazy fan-filled world also opened up the joy of sharing that part of me that had always had to experience it alone. And here I thought falling crazy in love was only the provence of the young. Silly me. You want more? Consider: Paleyfest was on March 5, 2011. I met Bob on April 5 2011. We began discussion about living together on August 5, 2011 and he moved in on September 5, 2011. Our first anniverary together just passed. Wierd? Maybe but only in the best of good ways. I don't know about weird, but it's a beautiful story and I'm so happy for the both of you, but especially you, since you've had a rough go of it. Good things really can happen to good people.

As someone who still only has a desktop I cannot advise on computer "skins" (like a protective cover I assume). And yes, my son and soon to be DIL will be headed off to South Korea, right next to the crazy dictator with a nuclear missile, and a tiny island in the Phillipines, right next to Indonesia and it's tsunami warnings. (although it seems that those things seem to travel more east toward India than west thru the Pacific. Still, probably statistically less dangerous than driving on the Chicago interstates. I got two little netbook computers for the girls because my old laptop has just about "had it," and I didn't want them on mine. The netbooks are identical, so I wanted to get some "skins" so they can tell them apart easily. The computers aren't really "theirs," in that they will remain here for future foster kids, if the girls go home. But for now, they are "theirs." I found that cafepress has a "make your own" skin, so that worked out well. Roxanne made herself a "I love Justin Bieber" skin, and Nicole picked out a already-designed one with a sort of "wolves howling at the moon" motif. I nixed the biker skulls and the playboy bunny stuff (mystifying!) . . . the Beebs and Wolves was as far as I went. My guess is that the biker skulls and stuff are from Ed Hardy's artwork. There is a line of clothing, marketed mostly to teenage girls, believe it or not, that features Hardy's artwork with such precious sayings as "Love kills softly." My cousin's kid loves Ed Hardy stuff and I have a couple of things with much more benign designs on them. Hardy is a tattoo artist whose work gets much attention in the design world.

Oh, hell, so very tired.
Diane, turning points are dizzying, in the best of ways.
Ann & Spring, as the twig is bent, yadda yadda yadda...
Erin: your inner fierceness demands moisturizing?
Julia, different set of aches from yesterday, but still needing to get up and go, dammit.

Erin, you are always fierce, in the best possible of ways. Diane, *evil laugh*, yes, I'm a natural perverter of offspring, I am. I've also got the Husband reading a book I recommended to him, Feed by Mira Grant. Zombies and a presidential campaign, I thought he'd like it. Julia, We just bought a new dishwasher. An expensive dishwasher. It's a top-rated Kenmore, which we hope will last as long as we do. Aged Mum wants to buy it for us, as last year's anniversary present, but I think I'll tell her she can help pay for it, as money is rapidly becoming an issue for her. We also dropped off our wedding rings at a little jewelry repair shop at the mall, to be made larger (something we've been meaning to do for some years). Oh well, if I manage to lose enough weight to make it an issue, I can put ring guards on mine. The Elder Daughter is at a grad student orientation at Cal State today. My firstborn is entering graduate school in the fall. Guh.

I remember when she was in high school, having all the angst a high school girl can have and here she is entering graduate school. Amazin'. It's a very cool thing and you have much to be proud of, Better Half.

Now, if the Younger Daughter would only find something to interest her, and get her grades up a bit more, I could, well, not stop worrying, but at least not worry so much.
