On Thursday last, I was walking to the market, stopped to watch a hummingbird, and saw it land on a bird of paradise flower. I got photos.Whee! So pretty!

Thanks, Julia and Diane, it was a nifty experience. There are a couple of nice gardens up on the 300-block; one of them is like something from a fairytale, with hollyhocks and sweetpeas and poppies and all sorts of other pretty flowers.
We have a new dishwasher. There was more work (and more $) needed to install it because of old worn-out connecting thingies, but I think the guy did a good job. It's running right now, empty of dishes, and wow is it quiet.

You know, the only good thing about a headache is that cool breeze feeling in your head when it finally goes away.
Also, hi S'cubies!

Am off to a Torchwood convention for the weekend. ... as soon as I can stop hiding under a blanket, obviously. It should be fun. It should definitely be more fun than playing clicky computer games all weekend, which was the alternative. I just have to get myself there. ... and I'm back that was fun. much dancing. little sleeping or eating. clearly one can survive on party alone hope y'all had good weekends too good times

Well, the retreat went just fine.
We depart for Chicago early Wed. and all I need to do tomorrow is just pack.
However, I seem to have come down with a mild stomach bug. I do not want to be experiencing discomfort this week, however mild. Or pass anything on to anyone else.
Vibes, please?

Julia, waiting for my snack to wear in before I go out and finish today's work.

Well, it must be getting realer. I have declared open warfare on 5:00AM. The alarm, in its last 3 days, is now set for 6:30. Still coughing but I drove myself today.

After all that record heat in March Chicago is returning to "normal."
When we arrive on tomorrow the high is forecast to be 72, but on Saturday (the wedding) the forecast is for 49!
Well, not un-anticipated. 65 would have been ideal but if I had to choose between 85 and 45 I'd actually probably go with the 45.

It's harder to be able to take off enough says she who will soon be facing the triple digits of the typical Houston summer.

Yeah, and not every venue is air-conditioned in Chicago or necessarily has turned their AC on at this time of year. But it's going to be very chilly have pictures taken out next to Lake Michigan (not sure if that involves the wedding party or only Tom and Sarah. The bridesmaids are in these sleeveless short cotton dresses.)

Fringe and Eureka comments under spoiler tags but also out in the open on the I Love TV threads. Fringe: Interesting that after all the bad stuff in earlier seasons this year everything is getting better due to the bridge. I'm glad Broyles turned himself in and that plotline has been resolved. FauxOlivia has been thru a lot recently. In this reset of Peter being erased (except in Olivia's revived memories) did was real Olivia taken prisoner in the alt-verse and impersonated by FauxO or is that entire plotline dead?
And, YOWZA on the preview for next week. That kind of came of of nowhere didn't it? They sure can shake things up. And speaking of shows that shake things up: Eureka: Well, the final minute sort of reset the reset. But until that point my feeling was how Eureka was truly a show, like Fringe, that is not afraid to totally shake stuff up. It's like the writers want to explore a variety of plot paths (like variations in fanfic). I mean, they've been keeping Carter and Allison apart for years but in far more creative manner than most shows. If Zane and Allison were missing for 4 years and presumed dead, or at least permanently gone, this seems like a totally natural progression. I was thinking about how they wrapped everything up for the threat of the week so quickly and happily but did NOT wrap up the personal lives stories nearly as neatly -- which is typical of the show.
On the one hand I'm glad Carter and Allison will get to be together. And I'm actually even happier that Allison has not missed (I assume) her daughter's 4 years. However, I haven't liked Beverly since season one and I don't like that she's back. Nope. I hope this is wrapped up quickly as well. Wonder if they will retain their fake memories and how that will spill over once they return to reality.
The question is, I guess, how and at what point Beverly took control? Is she just controlling the minds of the crew of the Atreus or everyone (seemed like it was more).
