To the lawyer today. I have finally had a real will drawn up--a REAL will; not a scribbled piece of paper where I state everything belongs to mykids. Not a $60 download form. A real will. Damn. Am I finally a grownup?

Oh, yeah! We'll have to make sure we are in the hotel room for PR on Thurs . . . Alabama is on some screwy Central Time thing, so I'll have to figure out when to be where. But I think I can do it. Oh, but Thursday night was the night I was going to take you and the girls to a local BDSM club! STOP BEING SO SELFISH, SPRING. Well, I can guess what the SM stands for, but what is BD? Unless, B stands for . . . butt? I know it will be hard, but please try to act normal. Girls still sleeping. They seem to have gotten more tired out than me!

Erin --- TRUTH! Way too much going on in real life: church retreat All the wedding attire purchases, returns, alterations, (not just dresses but undergarments, shoes, jewelry, make-up (some people already have a lot of this stuff but not me so much)), gifts, travel, hair, more travel. They've added in a Korean ceremony during the cocktail hour in between the first ceremony and the full dinner reception: wiki.weddingbee.com/Paebaek (pretty interesting) my BIL remains on a ventilator, with a feeding tube, they have stopped continuous dialysis once they got 50 pounds of fluids out of him. He continues to run a fever, though. Not getting worse, just not getting appreciably better, at least not quickly. kids and their jobs kids and their relationships Jim traveling and traveling and traveling (this week Reno (which is a bear to get to and from) for 2 days and then Atlanta for 2 days. He gets home late Thursday and I leave Sat for wedding shower in Chicago. And I've been spending at least an hour a day working on the yard. We have something close to an acre on a corner lot on a slope. So many small twigs came down in the hailstorm that the I can't just pick up big sticks like usual so I'm pretty much been raking the entire yard, once square yard at a time. Throwing it all on a tarp and then dragging that to be dumped into a giant pile (our tax dollars support trucks that come around once a quarter and collect yard debris. Only some areas the grass has already grown enough to make raking difficult so you just need to bend over and pick up the sticks and twigs (some are large branches but more small) But, yikes, it's like vacuuming one's house by using a dust cloth on the floor or picking up lint one piece at a time. After 2 weeks I've got about half the yard done. And there's been basketball to watch, although now the VU men are out so just the women to watch vs. Duke on Tuesday. Well, that's an update on my life. Let us know about the BIL; will keep him in my thoughts. BASKETBALL: Sorry about Vandy. They did great in the conference play, though. My pals are going crazy down Athens-way about the Bobcats reaching the Sweet Sixteen. I've not been watching, but I have been keeping track of OU and OSU's progress. OSU, I expected to see in the 16, but OU! What a fun surprise for A-town.

But maybe it is only a seeming. Time will tell. Time is not a friend.

I heard from UPS Store guy this morning. He said that the box is being returned to him, and he'll call me when it arrives so I can come pick it up. I don't know if I'm going to get my shipping costs back, either. Apparently, the Canadian end of the shipping process refused to accept "a weapon". An antique ceremonial Masonic sword is a dangerous weapon, who knew? I emailed my brother to let him know what's up, and to ask if perhaps he has friends on the US side of the border, to whom I could mail the box so he could pick it up and smuggle it back to Canada. I haz a headache.

But that was all inside the U.S. --no clue how that works across national borders. I can see the problem. I also doubt the refund but it seems to me if UPS gave you impression that they could deliver it it is their fault for not knowing the rules.

UPS returned the box to me, right at dinnertime and (of course) after the UPS Store was closed. I'll call them tomorrow after I get back from the vet. One corner of the box was smushed, so I slit the tape on that end and made sure everything was still in the box, then swept up all the styrofoam peanuts, dumped them back in, and retaped. There was a note stuck to the box. "Swords are prohibited to be shipped by UPS". So much for what the local guy thought. I'll push for my refund again, since he assured me there'd be no problem, but I suspect I'm out the $25 for the shipping (I'm not even going to mention the packing, as it was something I couldn't do myself anyway). This is going to be a growly grumpy week, I can just tell.

*sigh*
And here I was feeling sorry for myself because my computer shut down and dumped my history folder.
Oh, well.
Julia, long day, Monday, and not much done.

Ordered and received all manner of weapon and weapon-related stuff from international sources. But the rules change almost daily. Holding out hope for postage refund, though. If UPS can be convinced that the shipment was done because of false information they may relent just for good customer relations. Okay, not a LOT of hope--but some.
