Attention! Anyone having trouble accessing the board from bookmarks and browser buttons!Anyone having trouble loading the board using browser bar buttons or bookmarks should remove the "48" from the URL as ProBoards changed the system today ending the forwarding function for URLs containing the server numbers to the forum. The numbers were phased out with the last upgrade, but the software continued to forward URLs containing the server numbers to the correct forum. Today, that is no longer being done. I also posted this in LJ. Please update your bookmarks and browser buttons if you haven't done so already.I no longer have a FB account, so if anyone wants to post this on FB, feel free. Greetings and general well wishes to all while I pass thru again .. 1st - congrats to retiree Diane - there are days when I'm so busy-tired I think it would be the smart thing to join you and Spring in your self-directed "leisure" days. ... maybe soon.... Onjel, thanks for the warning above. I'll change my bookmark for the board. However, I usually enter via soulfulspike.com where clicking on the messageboard graphic still leads to the old url and may or may not redirect. Hopefully someone can fix. Saw, Avengers last Saturday. Awesome w/ a capital A. Showcase for all the Real Whedon that we know. Witty, funny, punny, laugh out loud ... and recognizable scenes from Cleveland. Stuttgart = Public Square & TowerCity/Higbee Bldg. street level shots of our East 9th Street and some bridges, tv report with voice of longtime local anchor Robin Swoboda (whose name I swear was the inspiration for HIMYM's Robin Scherbatsky's naming by Clevelander Carter Bays ) etc. etc ... A fun movie I'd go see again soon. Kudos to JW who is now King of Hollywood. Numfar can really do the Dance of Joy. Best regards to all and hope to be back here soon... leftylady

Slap my hand now! Can you figure a jury trial over the alleged theft of two pair of blue jeans? I mean, really? We were supposed to disrupt the lives of 12 citizen for THAT!?? I know what you mean. I always get called for Muni Court which is for misdemeanors and civil cases up to limit which used to be $1k which would not cover the court costs and jury pay before it had to go to Common Pleas Court. Luckily now limit raised so less likely to be some petty disputes better suited for Judge Judy. Petty cases wasting public funds do not make for a good civics lesson. leftylady

Also, also: people are learning to sit thru the credits and I loved seeing Joss' name 3 times! (director, story, screenplay), and the eventual payoff scene was hysterical. However, I hope you all stayed thru the RESt of the credits for all the little people as there was additional payoff. Finally, a criticism: Samuel L. Jackson did NOT cut it. The other actors sold their superhero roles, even against green screens. SLJ -- not so much. Either he just wasn't buying in or he's a way lesser actor because it was like he was reading off a teleprompter for an SNL skit. (IMO)

Thanks. So do you forgive me for blowing my voir dire? Hell, there's nothing to forgive! The case should never had made it that far. I only wish you had been in my jury pools. Maybe you can start a training course for how to break the ice during voir dire. ;D Break it? I think I shattered it!

Okay, this pretty much made my day: After the usual afternoon Emma-call , I dashed over to the library to pick up a hold that had come in. As is my custom, I checked the new and rental books, and there on the new books shelf were several hardcover books I had donated to the library last week - I had given them my (originally bought new) Dorothy Dunnett Niccolo series and several Barbara Hamblys because I was replacing them with paperbacks, and my donations had been put into circulation. I'm unreasonably pleased that my books turned out to be useful to the library. One takes one's gratifications where one can...

Jim's work partner (sort of boss in that he's the medical doctor so even though they are listed as Co-directors of the Center for P atient and P rofessional Ad vocay the other guy gets paid more) was mentioned in USA Today today: www.usatoday.com/news/opinion/forum/story/2012-05-21/house-md-doctors-disruptive-behavior/55118270/1It's a review of the 8 years of the TV show "House" and mentions Gerry's work with dysfunctional doctors. Excuse me if I think Gerry didn't invent it all by himself. Half way thru this paragraph: Spurred by the patient safety movement, the medical community is addressing the problem of antisocial doctors. Gerald H*****n, M.D., of V University Medical Center has created a program that begins with a "cup-of-coffee con versation" but escalates to the loss of hospital privileges for physicians who fail to respond to education and counseling.

Today is not starting out well. Shadow wanted in. I'm training the cats to ask, audibly, when they want in or out (otherwise they sit at the door broadcasting feline mind-control waves or something). So when the cat asks, the cat gets. I was eating breakfast (multi-grain toast with fat-free cream cheese, whoopee). Younger Daughter was on the computer, and she couldn't possibly stop playing around pause what she was doing long enough to let the cat in. Patches was sitting in the livingroom between the computer desk and the kitchen. So I asked YD to please please please watch Patches, because Patches will, given the chance, see if Tiggers like my breakfast. YD said not to worry, she would. I let Shadow in, got her dish off the counter, and gave it to her, turned around, and... Patches was on my chair, forepaws on the table, eating my breakfast. YD was back to her Very Important computer thingy, of course, completely oblivious. So I yelled at Patches, and I lost my temper with YD, and I threw out the cat-chewed toast, and now I'm short of breakfast, short of temper, headachy and feeling like, as usual, It's All My Fault. Because it's always All My Fault. Gah. I sure hope the rest of the day goes better, because I had to deal with a panic attack (mine) last night, I didn't sleep well, and I'm not looking forward to having everybody underfoot for Three Whole Days this weekend.

One more thing about the House finale I keep forgetting to mention: Speaking of Holmes/House parallels, and in regards to the way the show ended, two words: Reichenbach Falls.
Which I'm sure everybody else has already said by now, but whatever...

Gah. Overslept, or went back to sleep after being awake for a couple of hours after five am.
I need to be substantially more productive today so I can leave something besides a mess behind me when I'm gone for a day and a half. Need to write a list for Anna, ugh, so she gets all the chickening right Friday night and Saturday.
And of course I'm going to miss the Moe episodes of Cold Case while I'm gone and won't get the whole story of what happens, again.
Need, more than anything, for it to stop raining for a bit.
Julia, stupid late May/early June and the wet green everywhere

Random stuff:
Heat is about to crank up here. May break a record on Sat. (granted said record is "only" 95 (hey, it's MAY) but we just had a lovely lovely week. So much better than last year when we finished May off with 10 days over 95 and started June out the same way. (Nashville gets hot but it used to reserve the 90+ temps for July/August.)
Personal trainer again today. Good stuff but losing 20 pounds would be even better (and actually have more effect on my breathing). Then I come home and shower and it is suddenly noon.
2 birthdays this week so shopping and wrapping and mailing. Allie is 25 on Saturday and Tom will be 28 next week. Allie's bf has had at least his third call-back interview but still no full time job. Frustrating. I hope they aren't hiring new grads over this kids who have put in 3 years doing non-paid internships and know the value of working.
Following Vandy in their baseball tournament, otherwise pretty quiet on the sports front.
Have lists of paperwork and projects "to do someday" -- well, now it's someday ..... we'll see.
