Anne, Dianne, I got a ziplock bag full of nice white hat plumes for fifty cents at the Panorama City Patio sale: either one of you want to put dibs on it?
Julia, if not you, Deirdre's sister has a hat business.

Julia, if not you, Deirdre's sister has a hat business. Thanks kindly for the offer, but I'm pretty well feathered-up. You know, it'd be really nice if I could just shake off this pit-of-the-stomach feeling that something's about to go horribly wrong...

Okay, it's not like I had enough for the queen, but while cleaning out all the extraneous fabric I found 6 1/2 yards of lovely black linen. I also found all my leftover trim, of which there's a LOT. So naturally I tripped my way over to the north side of town to visit my seamstress. By August 9th her majesty will have a new, summer-weight gown. Yes, I AM an idiot. Why do you ask? Also, that doesn't sound the least idiotic to me; the only difference is I'd want something Worth 1906-ish (after the worst of hobble skirts) for myself. Julia, in from an hour of strenuous strenuosity

No you are NOT an idiot. Don't make me come over there and fish-smack you. I, on the other hand, just bought two more costume books. I didn't need them, they just completed parts of the collection, and I'm not even doing costume stuff anymore anyway so I had no excuse at all. You mean like the four books of Victorian fashion I just bought?

One visit to the Ren Faire, once a year, for however long it lasts, which may not be much longer...

One visit to the Ren Faire, once a year, for however long it lasts, which may not be much longer... I like the pretty pictures too, but making them is beyond my skill level as it stands. So, maybe after vacation I'll look into some sewing classes-- But until then, there's Linda and her magic sewing machine.

There are about a dozen wired aigrets and a bunch of loose feathers, none broken, no loose featherettes, no dust nor musty smell. They'd been stuffed into a bag, but when released have filled a 12X8X4 box. Julia, yay for finding burried treasure!

Sigh. I finished Aged Mum's shopping, as best I could. Which won't be good enough, because I didn't get some of the things on her list, because as far as I could tell, Ralphs doesn't carry them. Or possibly they don't exist or aren't on the market yet; she's pulled that one before too. It didn't help that she couldn't be arsed to get the bulk of her list to me in advance. She dumped it on me late Friday afternoon, so I had to do it all this morning. One word out of her, one word, and I'm going to suggest that perhaps my saintly perfect BiL should do her shopping. Of course, I won't really do that, because I'm too much of a chicken to dump her, because she's got nobody else, boo hoo. I just want to smite somebody... I'm gonna go put KPCC on so I can listen to Car Talk while I pull everything out of the cupboard in the back bathroom where all my storage tins and boxes live (again, I culled the herd hoard yesterday) and reorganize it some more. Maybe I'll even move shelves around. ETA the Second: Finished moving stuff including shelves, it's much better now; things I need most often are at the top (it's the lower cabinet), things I seldom need are at the backs of the shelves, and the big things are on the bottom shelf. I'm making the Younger Daughter help with vacuuming; we're having a break before we tackle the den. The cats are Not Amused.

I think a general, all around hug might be in order. *hug* One of my cousins and her husband live in Aurora, about a mile away from the theater. They're shaken up, but luckily none of my relatives were there. Good to know!

Sorry I missed Project Runway. I was delayed in Coolville, OH, on my way home from Parkersburg, WV. Next week, players, if you're willin'! from the Dayton area. It's three years this Mon, so I am going to the cemetery this weekend, and visiting my MIL with the girls and my sis. Will be there for PR on Thursday!

I would like to ask a massive favor of my dear S'cubies. Texas Renaissance Festival is running a contest with Feast Hall tickets as the prize. They've posted a photo on their Facebook page and asked everyone to caption it. I would dearly love to win this one. All I'm asking you to do is please go to this page on Facebook: www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.406694456187.184967.101570651187&type=1#!/photo.php?fbid=10150963557726188&set=a.406694456187.184967.101570651187&type=3&theater Then scroll down to my (Diane Ullman) entry. There's a lot of entries, so you have to expand the list by looking at all the previous entries. On one try I was about 35-46th. Please "like" my entry. Most "likes" by 10AM tomorrow wins. Thanks so much!
