Sorry S'cubes- had to let the elder one use my computer until a moment ago to do her FIRST EVER POWER POINT PRESENTATION. Her computer doesn't have Office on it, which I must remedy soon. Anyhow, sorry I was unable to communicate or play this week. Should be better next week. ALSO: You should see this ppt presentation. Since she is just learning, she is making all the classic errors . . . too much everything on the slides, every font and animation she can load on, a wild background that makes the text hard to see . . . I suggested she simplify, but she is 16 (had b-day last week!) and knows all. So I just enjoy and let her roll. Heeee! Classic PP-overdo, sounds like. ;D Well the first time everyone tends to see all these things they can do and go a bit nuts. I wish I could show you all my first PPt presentation. All I can say is it was Paddie- centered.

She has a different animated intro for each slide . . . one fades in from the center, one swooshes in from the side, with the text coming up from the bottom, one has the text twirling in. . . and on and on. When she went to bed, she wanted me to stay upstairs with her awhile, but I said, "No, I have to get ready for bed. I'm too tired out from watching you make all those mistakes with your powerpoint." Of course, I was referring to my repeated gentle reminders that she might tone it down. She just said "Ha! Wait till you see it when I'm done!" So now it is a point of pride with her . . . I cannot wait to see the final product.

Runway!
Team Moose and Squirrel (Alica/Dmitry/Elena) I too like the shawl-thing. The dress is ... interesting. I think I like the neckline, not as sold on the external darts. But the "simple/clean/modern" thing is starting to look more like "too simple/boring" in some ways. And why no color, people? Why?! Second look coat is sloppy looking, though I can see the interesting things she was meaning to do. Pants and top are ... nice enough, but not particularly interesting, from what I can see.
Team Bitchy-lite (Christopher/Gunnar/Sonjia) I like the first look a lot. Jacket is cool-looking, scarf is neat, love the dress underneath (what you can see of it). The hunter green is a good fall color, nicely contrasted with the creamy lighter color. Second look is a bit more complicated to wrap the brain around, very interesting but I'm not sure it all works. The coat needed to be a bit crisper I think and the dress is very cool, but I'm not sold on the length .... A very interesting concept, execution is not all it could be.
Team Style Mish-Mash (Fabio/Melissa/Ven) First, I simply have to say that while I have been begging for more color, this washed out dull pink was not what I was hoping for. Color aside, I like the cropped jacket, but I don't think the skirt shape really works that well in this look. Second look coat is sort of interesting, but not as dramatic/impact-y as it could have been and the top and pants are ... not good. The colors are not helping. Really not helping.
Time to post and find out if the judges think exactly opposite of me!

Also, sunglasses - assuming it won't require wearing 3D glasses.

I hate the external darts. They do nothing but distract. If they went up over the bust it would be another matter, but as is--they're awful.

Woot - they liked Team Bitchy-lite best and so did I! Team Moose and Squirrel comments: Dress is too repeat-o from Dmitry and shawl is too old-lady and doesn't go with dress. Elena's oversized coat is also too repeat-o from her and not well made, not tailored well. Alicia's pieces are boring, throw-away, intellectual but with no purpose. They were not working together. Team Style Mish Mash comments: They like the white jacket (yes, indeed!). The knits are too shear, too thin fabric. Color looks washed-out. Weird looking crotch. Mohair coat is a flop, it's too grandma, just hangs. Nothing looks like Ven, nothing is constructed well. Looks inexpensive/worn/droopy. Unlike M&S team (where fighting was their downfall) SMM team was too nicey-nicey and didn't challenge each other to actually design well. So, who is tossed and who is winner? Winner is Sonjia - yay! And they bounce Alicia. As is traditional for PR, dull is worse than interesting but done poorly.

First workout.
Much tweakage needed. Very nauseous and then big blood sugar crash. Also am going to have to limit my whirlpool time due to chlorine.
Tomorrow: First time with trainer. We'll see what happens next.

Sorry I missed the PR chat. Just watched it this morning so I'm caught up! I am so sick of Elena. Her drama is so...dramatic. Annoying!!! I will miss Alicia. I like her quiet style. I'm not sure she was really cut out to be a contestant on the show though.
Spring, I am laughing at your comments about the 16 year old's PP. PowerPoint is just an invitation for bad design! Have you heard of Prezi? It's a different way of giving presentations that is very cool, but it has options for the slide to make sudden flips and zoom and turns that can make the viewer nauseous. Oy.

Second workout day. Still having nausea issues but had a (disgusting!) protein drink first and that helped some.
Why is it that the foods that are good for you tastes so awful? You'd think that they would taste nice so you'd want to consume them.

Oy. I have never heard of Prezi. Well, the 16 yr old - whom I will call Nicole - finished her powerpoint. It has 9 slides, with 7 different backgrounds. She added a "bounce in," and some other animated entries. She found some clipart for several of the slides, and added AUDIO to each slide! Everything from music to bubbling to monkey chatter to a baby crying. The last slide has thunderous applause. She had me laughing. She kept asking me for my opinion on the audio clips, and I kept saying "I don't think you should have them at all . . ." She gave me several big, dramatic sighs, gave up on me ever understanding how to make an interesting presentation, and kept on plugging away. I have to hand it to her, she has quite a show there.
