Runway time!
Dmitry - I like this one a lot. Modern, clean, very dance-y.
Melissa - I like the concept here - the colors, shaping, angles, etc. There are some definite construction issues, but the ideas are strong.
Ven - Pretty, yes, but I agree with everyone who's been saying this is basically just a dress. The color is pretty, but it needs more specialness. (Tim was right when he suggest the overlay/edging being left rather than tucked under.)
Elena - Yeah, this is a bit ice-skater. But it is a costume, after all. for the rockettes! I think this actually turned out OK. Not fab, not as sophisticated as it could have been, but not bad.
Christopher - Very nice. Very nice indeed. Classy, jazzy, big-city elegance with plenty of Rockette sparkle. Nice!
Sonjia - I actually like the skirt. The whole purpley feather thing could really have worked. But that top looks like what it is - tacked on a the last minute.
Fabio - I actually like the sort-of armor/ancient greek vibe, with a more modern top. But I'm not sure this is a winner. Is it Rockette-y enough?
Posting before I hear what the judges say!

The headdress rocks. How about inverting it to make a skirt? Then boots, dance shoes (maryjanes) or ballet slippers.

OK, I brightened up the headband into more peacock type colors, and added some glittery ballet type shoes . . .

Judging time ... Fabio is safe-middle. Sonjia - Not spectacular, boxy, not sexy, too fragile for dancing/functional issues, not enough glam, seems more cocktail rather than dance. Dmitry - Edgy, good movement, the lines work well on her body, exciting, polished, impeccably made, you can tell it's Dmitry, modern, bare, modern chic, beautifully made. Ven - Fabric is nice, but no design, boring, doesn't tell a story, just a dress that sparkles, doesn't really show the dancer body, not enough drama, like the simplicity, hem is uneven. Melissa - Show stopper, but has problems, the 1 on the front, the skirt is too short, dramatic and graphic, you'd see her in the last row, a bit too cocktail dress, vibrant, but looks like a cigarette girl, confusing, awkward neckline. Christopher - Love the message, all the rockettes would look great in it, stunning, the illusion of skyline is stunning/beautiful, a great idea that is executed impeccably, a Bob Mackie moment, celebratory and dignified. Elena - Las Vegas cheerleader, tacky, gaudy, busy, never stops, a beautiful costume for the circus, poor fabric choice, cheesy, too matchy, cheap, not modern. So, who is out and who wins? Winner is Christopher! \o/ I'd have been happy with either him or Dmitry. And they toss Ven. OMG, I was totally thinking they'd toss Elena! I guess they went back to a PR staple. Boring is worse than badly done.

Elder Daughter and I tried to spot the shuttle on its way to Disneyland, but missed it. It's hazy (also beastly hot) and it may have been too far west and south for us anyway. On the other hand, there were feral parrots in the big tree in our back yard this morning, easily visible through the bathroom window. Also very very audible. I wonder if they're who's been eating the pomegranates right on the tree, the wretches.

We may not have seen the shuttle, but Aged Mum did! Caregiver F took her (in wheelchair) out the front door, down the ramp and around the back yard, where they had a lovely view of the shuttle on its loop over JPL. She even met the new next-door neighbor, who was also out watching the skies.
AM said their little one-block street was full of cars and bicycles. So, great excitement today, which I'm sure did her no end of good.

I have already been working on her assimilation into the collective: Resistance is futile I'm beginning to realize that.

Have cold, but not too bad. Craziness going on with the girls that someday I will be able to share - by the end of this calendar year, I hope and pray! Right now, I think I need to even keep it off the Admin thread, as it still does amount to "posting it on the Internet." I wish I could show you pics from our Outerbanks vacation. They are gorgeous girls, and were having so much fun.
