so if regular cast members are finding outside work, does that mean it's definitely cancelled?

so if regular cast members are finding outside work, does that mean it's definitely cancelled? Maybe; maybe not. I'd be more worried if Kristen Bell, Enrico Colantoni, or Jason Dohring were looking for work. That'd be a definite sign.

Here's another interesting twist: 'Veronica' toys with time warpVeronica Mars might be looking at a quick graduation from Hearst College. The fate of the CW's cult favorite remains uncertain, but if the show returns for a fourth season in the fall, it might find the young sleuth in a different setting. "Veronica Mars" creator Rob Thomas has come up with an idea to fast-forward a couple of years and have Mars studying at the FBI Academy. (As a freshman at Hearst College, Mars (Kristen Bell) has been taking criminology classes and been looking to do an internship at the FBI.) Thomas is filming a trailer for the alternative fourth season of the Warner Bros. TV/Silver Pictures show, which will be submitted to the CW. The network's executives ultimately will decide whether to pick up the series for another season and, if they do, whether to stick to the drama's current plot line or go with the new version. If Mars goes to the FBI Academy next season, it will be a third backdrop for the character, who began her P.I. adventures while in high school.

And....I wouldn't be against it "just because." I think it's cool that RT is thinking outside the box. It will all depend on writing, execution, casting, acting ability, chemistry and directing. Oh, wait, that's what it always depends on. (AS opposed to what year or physical location). Hard to see how Keith will be as regular though. Silly RT, if he hadn't killed off Lamb Keith wouldn't be stuff in Neptune.

Well now wait, he doesn't necessarily have to stay in Neptune--he's only "acting" sheriff right now, which I guess means that he could lose the next election, and go back to being a P.I. I wonder if they are considering flash-forwarding four years because Kristin Bell is actually much older than the part she plays? I know some people commented that she didn't look like a high school senior last year.

This would be a first for a TV show. A spinoff of the main character into basically a brand new show.
I can't remember that ever happening before.

I know that it worked well with supporting characters, like Frazier Crane from Cheers, but not with a main character. I really don't see how it will work.

Woah! There's some serious hate on for the character of Veronica here! Huh. I may like or not like some elements of the proposed changes, but . . . Ah, well. Takes all types of people to make a world.

I dont know just hard to Imagine a VM with no Wallace, Logan, Weevil, Dick, Logan, or Mac.
I can understand them not keeping her dad around. EC is costing them a pretty penny.
If they surround her with a good cast again it may work, but it will in no way whatsoever be the same VM that we know and love. Her character may not change much, still with the quips and smartass comments , but not nearly the same show. I dont know if that will be good or bad. This is of course depending on if the CW buys into it.

Bitter and hateful doesn't go far enough to describe those posters! It's story telling, not real life. If they want real FBI there are plenty of gritty procedurals. And the hateful reference to the characters! again Considering we have few details of what the entire package would be like, it's kind of going off the deep end. I'm willing to give the idea a shot. It might just re-capture what was lost this year. Moving to college fragmented the show. In that I mean, the "old gang" faded into the background and new characters didn't jump out at us the viewers like the initial Neptune personas. Someone mentioned in a VM thread that this really points out Joss' genius in tight storytelling - he made the S4 transition to college and kept the main group together in a minimum of "gathering places" - Giles' appartment, Xander's basement or campus parties - as well as bringing in new characters and new story lines. RT's decision to leave Veronica at home tied her to Keith but split Veronica off from her established group of friends. And Mars Investigation wasn't a tie-in to her friends either. A fast forward gives RT another chance to get the formula right.

I'd really miss the other characters: Keith, Wallace, Mac, Logan, etc. But at the same time, I actually do like the character of Veronica - she's complex and flawed and brilliant in some areas, etc. etc.. So it would be interesting seeing her face other challenges, do other things, etc. Early days still. Plenty of time to see what actually happens.

Well, if she's in DC they should bring back Jake Kane, maybe as a senator. There aren't a lot of TV shows that can't be improved on by adding Kyle Secor.
