FYI, my thought on the new strings has always been that since most folks are still just playing with the bells and whistles (a few have actually begun to talk real topics, however), that when ScoopMe does go down permanently (and may already have at this rate), we need to shut down whatever string we're on and start fresh with an all new SSS Part 1; I'm sure Vlad can set these strings up as pre-SSS strings or something, so one day we can look back and laugh at all our playing around. I agree, Dave. For right now, it doesn't so much matter what we do here, its kind of unofficial as yet. We can start fresh when we...start fresh.

Of course I will. Laura, do you want me to tape it for you? I would be more than glad to do so - just let me know. It is not a problem at all if you want me to make you a tape of the special. Not necessary to tape it "just" for me. I'm curious as to what Marti Noxon will have to say, but I'm sure that a transcript will turn up somewhere. Thank you for offering! And I agree with Nan -- you've had your quota of bad luck for a while (sure you didn't disturb any Indian -- oops, Native American -- burial grounds while you were gardening?)!Laura

I was just on the main page and noticed I'm the only male in a room full of very sexy ladies. This is a dream of mine come true! A rose for each -- @-}-}-, just because it seems like the right thing to do.

I would be curious whether ScoopMe plans to be up any time soon. The longer they're down, the less likely it will be that people will be coming back after they come back up, especially since it's only a few weeks until they were supposed to go offline permanently anyway. They may hit a point where it just isn't worth it for them to come back up. And I wonder how many of the S'cubies will still want to go back for the last week or two (considering as already discussed that we'll need to transfer at least a couple of days prior to the lights being turned out to fascilitate archiving the last few threads), especially after getting a chance to be here and play around a bit, and get used to the new board. See everyone, it doesn't bite unless provoked. And you were so scared ..... The monster at the end of the pro-board is just loveable, furry ol' Grover .....

Laura Willliamsburg, Va., sharing a hotel room with a burly sailor I hardly knew, bumming about how'd I'd much rather having been somewhere splitting a London broil for two and a bottle of asti spumante with some nice lady. But unfortunately someone had the bright idea that Valentine's Day weekend would be a good time for our military drill weekend. Of course, that individual was probably home with his wife or her husband, having a nice romantic dinner, rather than sharing a hotel room with a burly sailor he or she hardly knew. On the upside, we did have HBO.

Incidentally, I am of the opinion that the purpose of Memorial Day not just to remember those who've died, but also those who served our country. And every year I make a special call to a friend's husband, who served in Vietnam, and give him a "thank you for keeping us safe."
So Dave -- thank you for keeping us safe, and a happy Memorial Day to you!Laura

So Dave -- thank you for keeping us safe, and a happy Memorial Day to you!Laura Valentine's Day I think was invented to remind some folks that they have someone in their lives they need to be thankful that person puts up with "your" sorry butt -- not your butt, Laura, but I started to string out so many "they" and "theirs" even I got confused who I was talking about after a while (I considered referring to them as the party of the first part and the party of the second part, though). Anyhow, I frankly feel sorry for anyone who is in a relationship with someone that needs things like Valentine's Day to say "Thank you for putting up with me". When I was married, I tried my best to every so often, just for no reason at all, pick up some flowers for my wife or some chocolates or a card or something, anything just because I wanted to, and I didn't need Valentine's Day to remind me to do it. To me, if you're doing your relationship right, Valentine's Day falls at least once a month and you pick the dates, you shouldn't need a calendar to tell you to be nice to that special person in your life. But that's just me. As for Memorial Day, it's nice that people like you are so willing to remember the military, especially after the time we (I say we, although I wasn't there) went through coming back from Vietnam. Traditionally, Memorial Day is intended to remember the fallen heroes, the ones who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country -- Veteran's Day is for those of us who survived. If I remember correctly, it was commemorated because of the number of people who died on the beaches of Normandie, but I could be mistaken about that aspect. There's also Armed Forces Day, but that one never really seemed to get off the ground, so mostly I think it's just the Saturday all the branches of the military set up booths in the malls and try really extra hard to recruit. Only once has anyone ever wished me a happy Armed Forces Day. Hey, do you know how many lawyers showed up at the Honest Attorney's Convention, right? Both of them! But you knew that, I'm sure, since you were there and all ....

Holy cow. Scoop Me's been down all weekend and I never even noticed. That's what happens when one spends the whole weekend packing one's life and house into boxes for moving.
I did find the time last night to re-watch "Chosen". And I watched the scene several times where Buffy says to Angel, "Spike's not my boyfriend. But he is in my heart."
And THE WAY she says it to Angel says this to me:
"He's NOT my boyfriend..." Translation: we're not really a couple in the traditional definition of a couple and we haven't gotten good and sweaty together in over a year
"But he is in my heart" Translation: But he is [my boyfriend] in my heart
Yup. She sent Angel a'packing, and good.
As an aside, the shooting script for Chosen is now up on studiesinwords. There's plenty of bits that didn't make it onto the screen.

I just wanted to whine. Now I will slink away and sulk. I want my ScoopMe back!! Maybe tomorrow the PTB over there will bring it back up. I'm starting to worry a little bit, though.

Might as well get used to it Rob. It's entirely possible that ScoopMe might not come back online. They only had a few more weeks left, anyway -- if they stay down long enough, they might just decide it's not worth the effort to get back online for only a couple of weeks. Sorry to be the harbinger of doom, my friend. But I invite you to pull up a chair, and at least for the time being if not forever, enjoy the company here in the S 3 posting board.

I just added to the Fanfic Recommends thread Card Sharp by Caro, a recommended story on AllAboutSpike.
Harmony picks up her tacky business cards at Kinkos when Spike also happens to be there, and wackiness ensues.
Quite delightful!
Incidentally, I noticed that thread jumped from near the bottom to near the top when I added to it. So I guess the threads sort themselves with the most active ones toward the top.
Still no ScoopMe, if anybody is counting....

But I've had real homemade ice cream before; at one family reunion I went to, an uncle broke out a churn and made ice cream for everyone to try. Really good stuff. Ben & Jerry's and High's and Bryer's and Edy's all come close, but there's nothing quite like the real thing.
