If you've checked out my S'cubie profile, then you might have noticed that one of my cats, Arnie, had tested positive for feline leukemia but had stayed in good health for four years. Unfortunately, in the past months the disease manifested and I had to have him put to sleep this morning. He was a sweet, unassuming stray who was always on his best behavior as if he feared we'd kick him out if he presumed too much. I'm sorry if this isn't the appropriate forum for this kind of news but his life and death deserve to be remarked.

I'm sorry if this isn't the appropriate forum for this kind of news but his life and death deserve to be remarked. People seem to share a lot of themselves here, Becky, and this is in no way inappropriate. My sympathies to you. I lost my last Border Collie last winter (I bred them for several years). The loss was doubly hard because she had been my late husband's constant companion and work mate, and it was like losing another piece of him as well. Mary

The loss of a pet can be quite devastating. Sometimes people can't understand how attached some become to their pets. When I was younger, we had a dog that I basically grew up with. When Buffy (the dog) died when I was 10, I was completely devastated. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Oh, and this IS the appropriate forum for this kind of news. We all share the silly little happenings of our day and it is only right we share we the larger events of our lives. When I found out about my grandmother, the S'cubies were some of the first people I told and they were absolutely wonderful in their sympathies. Becky, again, I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your cat this morning.

Becky, I know it may seem weird to some, but the loss of a close pet sucks! My cat died over 3 years ago, and I still do things around the house as if he were still there. As I'm sure has been mentioned, this is a great place to share both ups and downs, and I'm sure we can all relate to your pain! So sorry babe! If you've checked out my S'cubie profile, then you might have noticed that one of my cats, Arnie, had tested positive for feline leukemia but had stayed in good health for four years. It's amazing how quickly the gain entrance into your heart isn't it. I lost both of my cats last summer -- One in July and the other in September. They were 16 and 14 respectively. I had them both since they were each 8 weeks old. One of the strays my mom adopted now has Feline AIDS. She gives him is medicine twice a day, but he's hanging on.

I'm sorry if this isn't the appropriate forum for this kind of news but his life and death deserve to be remarked. Becky, you have my heartfelt sympathy. My profile has just been posted, in which I confess to being a cat person. I had a total of six cats (in two bunches -- a mother/daughter pair for a total of 13 years, then a mother/son/two daughters for another 17) at my parents' house. We lost one cat to feline leukemia, another to a heart condition, and the other four to cancer.
It seems odd, doesn't it, that animals have "human" diseases? But all of you who've loved pets know (I'm sure!) that your pets are "human." All I can say is treasure Arnie's memory, and remember that he had a good life with you -- even with the illness. And above all, don't start beating yourself up about "should I have used another course of treatment for him?" -- whatever you did was right.
I just hope that you didn't have to go through taking him to the vet's, and then having to "bring him home" to bury him. I only did that once -- it was very painful to bring the cat in alive, and bring her home -- not. Fortunately, in the time after I lost that cat, a friend's husband became a vet, and he quite compassionately paid "house calls" when the time came for the last three. It made a big difference, especially to my parents. Laura

I just checked. There are 11 posts to go on Scoopme to 30,000. Be the 30,000th poster! Win absolutely nothing. Be the envy of none. Include it on your resume and lose job opportunities. It's a shallow goal, but somebody's gotta do it. So get going.

Our husky (Xena) was left tied up in the neighbor's yard for 3 months as a puppy, often without food and water (which my husband would replenish) and was finally abandoned, so we adopted her. We'll be devasted when she's gone - she is the heart of our family now. Thanks for sharing your sorrow. Makes us all closer in spirit.

I grew up on a farm, surrounded by animals. Inevitably there would be occasional loss, and I took each one personally. I have a hard time understanding people who DON'T take it personally. I'm sorry for your loss.

It's a shallow goal, but somebody's gotta do it. So get going. I just posted something (again with the procrastination) so now - only 10 posts left to the mythical 30,000. We can do it, we can do it, we can help the ScoopMe site, only 10 more posts are needed, there's nothing to it really. [/i] Yes, Cinderella was one of my favorite movies as a child and yes, I am a big enough dork to paraphrase a Disney song.

You are entitled to mourn their loss; I know how I'd feel. Consider yourself and your family hugged.

Becky, anything that a S'cubie wants to share with other S'cubies is right for this forum. I had to have one kitty who had owned me for 18 years put to sleep 2 years ago, so I know how hard it is. Here's a hug for you Becky! *hug*

You're in my thoughts and prayers, Becky.

I was at Wal-Mart last night and was cruising through the DVD section when what did I spy with my little eye? Buffy Season 4 DVD!!! Didn't think it was supposed to be released until next week but apparently Wal-Mart likes to get it out early. In my enthusiasm I bought the DVD, ran home, tore it open and started watching - and then I realized I had already pre-ordered it from Suncoast. Damn my impulsiveness! Anyway, I watched the Spike featurette (on disc 3) - check it out, it's great! JM looks so amazingly gorgeous - how can someone be that good-looking? Definitely check out the commentary by JW on "Restless" and the commentary by JW, Marti Noxon and Seth Green on "Wild at Heart" - I woke my roommate up, I was laughing so hard listening to those three. Their commentary is absolutely hysterical!! There seem to be more extras on this DVD than the other seasons. There are 5 featurettes on Disc 3 alone. Oh, also check out the Season 4 overview on Disc 6 - it's really long and not enough Spike but I still thought it was pretty good. Now, if only I can figure out what to do with my extra box set.... Consider yourself special, Lee -- not that you weren't already, that is. I checked several stores here today as I ran errands, including WalMart -- no S4 DVDs here to be found, although WalMart at least had the placeholder on the shelf where they will be going. I'll probably check there later today to see if they couldn't stand the empty spot on the shelf and went ahead and filled it with S4 DVDs, but as it stands, your WalMart apparently is the only ones who can't read a calendar, so lucky you.
