Sarah
Welcome to the BEST board in town - with the smartest and funniest posters anywhere (except for me; I'm a nerd.)
and yes, you're quite right: we love to agree and we love to disagree, but it's always with R.E.S.P.E.C.T.
I found the board late last May/June, when the board was created after ScoopMe's board went down. I stayed to read the articles and essays, lurk awhile here, then ended up registering. Now I am reading the really good (hah! great!) fanfic.
When did you start watching Buffy or Angel?

No ascension. Lee and I just decided to add that to our names because of our penchant for fisticuffs in our wilder days. We're glad to have a few minutes with you too! That's cool! Speaking of fisticuffs, I started my kickboxing class a couple of weeks ago. I think I mentioned before that I had signed up. It is so much fun! This week we were punching at a pad that another person would hold up against their chest. The person I was punching at asked me if I was angry at someone in particular. ;D Hitting things is so much fun!

Now this is a bit embarrassing ... there's actually only one of me (first name Sarah, you can probably guess the second). After I checked my password, the login page told me there was an error, and wouldn't let me back in ... so I tried again (being a bit more cunning), and managed to log myself in by my first name (so I wouldn't forget who I am) ... only now there's two of me, and I should probably slink away in shame, and come back in a few months as someone else entirely. Anyway, now I've made such a graceful entrance, perhaps I should say hello, and nice to be here. I've been lurking for quite some time, I'm in England (and English) -- considered signing up some time ago when you were discussing Spike's and Wesley's accents -- so I'm working on a totally different time scale (the board is usually deserted when I read it). And I won't see the new series till January, but I am thoroughly spoiled (and yes, I understand the rules on that), so I'm finding all the discussions really interesting. I decided to come out from behind the sofa because this seems like such a friendly group -- I really appreciate the fact that you disagree in such a civilised way -- and that's kind of it really. I would just add, though, that I sympathise with how Rob feels about Xander because I really miss Giles (and did throughout Series 7, though he finally got a couple of great lines in Chosen). But without knowing any of you, and so being wholly objective about it, I've never noticed any bitterness in his/your posts, and I agree that the male perspective adds a great deal to discussions. The greater the spread of views the better. Sarah Hi, Sarah, er...Katherine....er...Sarah. So happy to see that you are posting. Welcome to the S'cubies!! Have you been a long-time Buffy/ Angel fan? We have several S'cubies abroad - and now we have one more! As you can probably tell, we love to debate, tease each other, laugh together, cry together..... if I do say so myself (and I do), we're a great group (could I have a bigger ego?). We have wonderful fanfiction, excellent episode reviews, fascinating analyses, thought-provoking debates, intelligent, articulate essays on our website: www.soulfulspike.comAgain, welcome Sarah - I am so glad you've joined us!

Hey Alice!! *jumps up and down waving in excitement* Glad you've checked in. There's a spoiler-free spot that Kerrie has started. You might want to check in there to see what 0ff-topic goodies might be posted. No Angel or Buffy talk allowed. I, for one, love the new season of Angel. ;D It's great seeing our favorite souled vampires together again. Bye for now! Karen

I've heard she's really good so now she's my secret weapon for S'cubiefest '04. I'm glad you're enjoying your class! You're right - it's always fun to hit things. ;D

Hi Everyone! *Big wave* First of all....Great song Rae! Been away for a while because I'm right smack dab in the middle of "the Season" at work and it's just been hell. No time to goof off at all. I've tried a couple of times to check in, but am always foiled within minutes. Hope everyone (and their families) are well. I see we have a few new members. Hi to Sarah and Catherine!! I love the new logo and the new SSS site design. Technopagans rule! Plus, name change stuff. Very cool Patti, EG, Lee. Did I miss a new kind of ascension? And Caraleigh it's cool to see your "real" name. Are there any other new developments I should know about? When I have peaked in I've tried to cover my eyes and remain spoiler free on any new season stuff, but I'd love to hear a general thumbs up/thumbs down from you guys. Don't know how long I'll be around. It's twenty to eight here and I'm kind of exhausted, but glad to be home at a decent hour. And glad to have a few minutes with the S'cubies. Hi Alice, nice to see you again. I decided to use my real name because I figured I wasn't fooling anyone anymore (the whole tell-them-your-real-name thing kinda blew it ) Sorry to hear work's been so rough. Hope you can pop in for more than a couple of minutes from now on.

EG's right - it's because of our "wilder" past - not because we love Scrappy Doo! (hey, makd - you think you're a bigger nerd than me?! HA!! ;D)

My sister-in-law is English and a fan but I've never thought to ask her opinion (she will be here in a couple of weeks and I'm going to ask her then) Please feel free to post often.

I know the early ratings were posted, but I also found this. Hope it hasn't been posted yet, as I have yet to get caught up . . .
Thursday, October 9, 2003 - 12:18 PM Development Update: October 9 By The Futon Critic Staff

ANGEL (WB) - Network topper Jordan Levin confirmed to Daily Variety the WB will go forward with a full season of 22 episodes for the show's fifth season. That sounds pretty good to me. It would be interesting to know how many people don't watch Smallville--I certainly don't. The dream would be for another Joss show to lead into Angel.

EG's right - it's because of our "wilder" past - not because we love Scrappy Doo! (hey, makd - you think you're a bigger nerd than me?! HA!! ;D) I think now would be a great time for you to sit down and tell us all a little story about those wild days Lee & EG. I kind of have a vision of the two of you a la Buffy and Faith in Bad Girls. We'll all pull the chairs in close, we've got the snacks. What were you really like?

As per our discussion a couple days ago, I noticed this article on the other Slayage, Slayage: The International Journal of Buffy Studies. Convents, Claddagh rings, and even The Book of Kells: Representing the Irish in Buffy the Vampire Slayer www.utpjournals.com/jour.ihtml?lp=simile/issue10/pottsX1.htmlHaven't read it yet, but it looks interesting.
