One of the Buffy novels--Tales of the Slayer--says that their "sacred" calling was supposed to be enough for the Slayers--bunch o' BS if you ask me. I always thought Buffy should have asked for at least a small stipend when she stood up to the Council and got Giles reinstated with back pay. "Sacred" calling my ass. Cheap way to hang onto their money. I'm truly surprised they had any female watchers at all. And yes, she should have hit the old farts up for some kind of stipend.

I had something else I wanted to comment on but left my notes at work and don't remember.
Bridesmaid dress is done. I'm only 1 lesson behind in the class I'm taking, and 36 pages of thread 55 to read. I even managed to get in some bike riding yesterday.
I'm making headway.
I've got to get some sleep this week. Time to exercise and perform my nightly ritual(that one is scary).

I've been trying to catch up but still have all of thread 55 to read. I just finished watching ep 3 of Angel and thought I was prepared. I wasn't. The whole thing has left me uncomfortable. No need to go into all reasons, every angle has been covered. As much as I like seeing an attractive male body, I hope JM is not being exploited for ratings. Of course JM is being exploited for ratings. What else? And I'm curious what about 5.3 made you uncomfortable, since I wasn't--only annoyed at Angel's dislike and neglect of Spike. Is your reaction the same or different? 'Splain at least a little, please.

All the money problems Buffy had in S6 and I presume 7 could have easily been solved by the WC. I'm glad TFE blew them up. LOL. But yeah - what was up with THAT anyway? The no pay, only slay deal? If GILES was getting paid... Mary

All the talk of how they, being Angel and Fred mostly, help people. Hypocritical much? 3. Do you not help people just because you don't like them. Well...I suppose there are a few people I know, that if they were on fire, I wouldn't spit on them, but if push came to shove, I would help them. I wouldn't like it, but I would help. 4. I've only watched the first 2 seasons of Angel, but I thought the group was better than this. I'm not bashing Angel, anyone, I like Angel. In fact, because I like him, I don't like to see him act petty. I know, the Buffy thing, the soul thing, the torture thing...Angel never bollocked things up? 5. Fred - Oh, Spike, I'm going to help you...right after I order out for Chinese. Give. Me. A. Break. I know the shades of grey we're going to explore this year, I think Spring has really shown impartiality and practicality in explaining this ep. I'm remembering now. Will feel better. Nan, I need to go back and re-read your review, I know I'll feel better.

Of course JM is being exploited for ratings. What else? I want my share of JM too. It's been years since I've seen male flesh look that good...around here anyway. It's just that, he's such a fine actor, I feel kind of bad, ME thinks he needs to take his clothes off to be noticed. But ... I guess, if JM doesn't mind, I don't mind. Oh yes, and the vote with landslide victory for JM...it even surprised me. But he does have loyal fans...not that we would cheat or anything...

SpringSummers, I agree with you about what Buffy told Spike ("it's killing me") to get him to realize she was serious. You're right: that's the only thing that would make him stop and listen.
Excellent point!

You think I don't want to see nekkid Spike. Check out my avatar. I just want him to be appreciated for his *art* too (I said, TEXT tossing my hair, (I'll get it right, maybe)).

Well, at least they had the delicacy to wait until 4 episodes in before displaying nekkid Spikeflesh--until he could be established as a whole character. Keep in mind that Angel fans have never had Angelflesh on display to the degree that we Spike fans have had the opportunity to see him in the near-altogether...or rather the altogether, suitably shot, draped, shadowed, angled, etc. We wouldn't want the unprepared Angel fans to have coronaries, viewing what we've become so happily accustomed to.
If they'd wanted to be REALLY crass about it, they would have dropped Spike out of the sky in his birthday suit in 5.1--the way Angel returned in BtVS from his century in hell.... That would certainly have caught the eye.
