...I've heard it speculated on how Angel ended up in chains AND pants (and later shoes!) after his return from his trip to hell.
My explanation has always been that, considering that Angel and Buffy were ix-nay on the ex-say, she put the pants on him for her own peace of mind. And the shoes, well...considering how kinky she got with Spike, maybe she had to give Angel shoes because she has a foot fetish.

Shanno LOL!!! yes...yes...and right after the ex-say with Buffy, he sat up in bed with no clothes on...remember...but by the time he was out the door, he was fully dressed with socks, shoes, and a coat!! All of this accomplished while he was staggering with pain and confusion.

I don't think Spike was a complete innocent here, nor do I think he was the mastermind of some international deal. I suspect he falls somewhere in the middle, and MIGHT have been looking for a way to get some money for Buffy. No one, though, will EVER be able to convince me that SPIKE would take on the nickname THE DOCTOR. Not after the tower. Not EVER. Mary I certainly agree Spike could not have masterminded such a thing. But he wasn't "keeping them for a friend." He was doing some assigned part, and he knew what he was doing. I agree he wouldn't want to take the name "The Doctor," but really we don't know that he took it. It could have just been what others, for whatever reason, were calling him.

Someone mentioned back on thread 54, about the Watcher's Council, their watchers, and money. I don't remember exactly what...but...one thing that always bothered me about Buffy's situation and every other slayer, these old men evidently had the bucks to pay themselves but for the slayers who were putting their life on the line and whom the WC wanted to control, left them on their own financially. The slayer's lives seemed to be nothing to them. If one was killed, another one came forward, oh well. All the money problems Buffy had in S6 and I presume 7 could have easily been solved by the WC. I'm glad TFE blew them up. I always thought that Spike's egg-deal had to do with wanting to get money for Buffy too - but of course, no matter how you look at it, it still points where it points: Spike just doesn't really get it, when it comes to right and wrong. As the exchange goes at the wedding: SPIKE: Evil. BUFFY: Of course.

Yep, quoting myself. Hahahaha. You think I don't want to see nekkid Spike. Check out my avatar. I just want him to be appreciated for his *art* too (I said, TEXT tossing my hair, (I'll get it right, maybe)). I know what you mean! If it isn't sufficiently artistic and filled with redeeming social value, I won't look at nekkid Spike for more than . . . an hour, tops. That's just the kind of person I am.

Well, at least they had the delicacy to wait until 4 episodes in before displaying nekkid Spikeflesh--until he could be established as a whole character. Keep in mind that Angel fans have never had Angelflesh on display to the degree that we Spike fans have had the opportunity to see him in the near-altogether...or rather the altogether, suitably shot, draped, shadowed, angled, etc. We wouldn't want the unprepared Angel fans to have coronaries, viewing what we've become so happily accustomed to. If they'd wanted to be REALLY crass about it, they would have dropped Spike out of the sky in his birthday suit in 5.1--the way Angel returned in BtVS from his century in hell.... That would certainly have caught the eye. If nekkid Spike scenes help keep Spike on AtvS, and AtvS on TV, I'm all for them. Hopefully the nekkid Spike moments won't be gratuitous, and there will be strategic use of shadows or whatever.
I remember the nekkid Angel scene very well, and didn't object to it at all....[shadow=red,left,300]GAIL [/shadow]

Well, I gues I'm just chatty-room hyper tonight!
Does anyone else want to talk about why Spike and Angel don't seem to remember (like Buffy) where their souls were while they were dead?
(most of this is what Moloch ate last week; I hope it's choking somewhere!)
Someone here mentioned (last week I think) that maybe the Jossverse souls of vamped humans linger around the vamp bodies. I thought "Hmm, ok!" at first, but then I realized...why would there be a Slayer? There would be Re-Ensoulers (or whatever) to give those rampaging dead bodies their souls back. That would accomplish a) stopping the bloodshed and b) enabling said souls to seek redemption (or whatever). Much better spiritually than just disposing of them, right?
Which brings me to another question: Why, why, WHY such deep redemption issues (other than their entertainment and/or moralizing value)? If I pick up a hitch-hiker who knocks me unconscious and steals my car to go joyriding (killing and torturing scores of humans in the process), why should *I* be the one to go to jail? Or live the rest of my life doing self-imposed community service?

Just heard from Mezzibelle that they're expecting 200-300 people at the Las Vegas Writer's Con. They're thrilled, because they thought they'd be doing really well if they got 50.

I'm glad TFE blew them up. Just shows to go you how very much the CoW was in need of a feminist revolution. Also - maybe that's why there was only one chosen - way too expensive to pay for more than one slayer. And the wages? death! Really, I am so in agreement here: what a bunch of pikers, patriarchs, and prigs. (alliteration, much?)

I've been trying to catch up but still have all of thread 55 to read. I just finished watching ep 3 of Angel and thought I was prepared. I wasn't. The whole thing has left me uncomfortable. No need to go into all reasons, every angle has been covered. As much as I like seeing an attractive male body, I hope JM is not being exploited for ratings. LParish I am surprised that you would say that!!! Hollywood? exploitative!! They are so not!! They would never exploit an actor because he has an attractive body. That would be just....wrong! ;D

I am just shocked that I would even suggest this. Must be a spell.
