Don't be too hard on her--Law and Order is on AFTER Angel. I have to admit that I taped The OC. And had a bit of a struggle over whether to just watch Angel and tape the West Wing or to watch Angel AND tape it. I decided to skip West Wing in the end! I'm just playing. I have no idea what is on at any other time. The only thing I EVER watch on TV is Angel. I usually go to my dad's house to watch it and leave the kids behind so I can watch without interruptions, but I stayed home this week and last week because they looked like fairly innocuous (to a 6yo) episodes (unlike Hellbound). Last week was OK since my 2yo got bathed and put to bed by 8:00 (when Angel is on here) and my 6yo son crashed out on the couch with me. This week, though, 2yo came thumping down the stairs after her bath and joined us on the couch, which precipitated sibling "don't touch me! get your feet off me!" bickering even though we have a couch the size of New Jersey :::sigh::: Now I have to either download the episode, go watch the tape at my dad's (we don't have a VCR, only a DVD player) or wait for a transcript. So maybe I got a little jealously testy thinking of someone having that much TV option and NOT chosing to watch Angel. ;D

That was when I realized just how good a job the writers are doing! Here was a guy completely new to the show, just enjoying the show for itself. There was I, into the fray, and ready to deconstruct. Both of us enjoying the show. That's good writing, good acting, good work. That's cool. I wish it worked that way in my house. Last week, I got: "Who's that guy with the green goo all over him? Hasn't he gained a bunch of weight?" and this week I got: "Are you watching that rubbish again?" :::sigh::: Shanno (glad to know there's somewhere to go with my obsessions, though)

First post to this forum--I just had to say how much I enjoyed it! Being from Texas, I thought the whole Masked Wrestler thing was just a hoot! And to still manage to (gracefully) fit in all that character and plot development. I'm very impressed. Who is the writer? I noticed that I didn't recognize the name when it appeared at the beginning. Is he new to Angel? GAIL

Was anybody else in hysterics in the beginning watching Spike play up the big "smackdown" between Angel and Numero Cinco? Especially when he was in the background nodding and laughing with his mouth open while the rest of them went on, oblivious! I noticed, poor Spikey. They are oblivious to him most of the time, except for Fred. Spike was bringing out the homor in the smackdown; well, somebody has to try to enliven our burdened, depressed Fang Gang. Loved Gunn's grumbling about Spike's being in the front seat of the car.

GAIL I thought that was Wesley, being upset because his buddy Angel was so far away. So it was Gunn? In his case, I think it's a status drop for him to be in the back, yes? I don't think Wesley cares about the status, but I thought he cared about the distance. Interesting to see Spike riding shotgun, especially when he can't shoot (incorporeal, yeah?)

I'm usually too busy to watch the show when it's on--generally I'm driving one or more of my kids around. But at least I have a VCR!

With all the stuff we manage to get done now that we have kids, do you ever stop and wonder...what did I do with all my time and energy before they came along? If I had realized Before Kids that I could do a quarter of the things I do now, I could have ruled the world! Bwahahaaaa! Now my greatest ambition is to get one hour of uninterrupted TV a week. You were right; it was Wesley. The whole "shotgun" remark - "Oh, I thought we were having a weapons check" - giggle. And one bit of testiness - are we EVER going to get through an episode without SOMEONE commenting on how thin Amy Acker is? Maybe I take it a little personally (I do), but I think she's beautiful and looks perfectly healthy. We thin women are always being hit over the head with the "beauty comes in all sizes" thing (which I believe, by the way) - why is it any more acceptable to constantly comment that someone is too thin?

All who are left, that is. Must go sleep soon, and the conversation seems to have dwindled. Sigh. Left coast.

Trying to think out the overall shape of the review, checking on posts of others, but mostly concentrating on getting the review started before I turn in. This one had layers and density. I enjoyed it a lot and want to get it as nearly right as I can. Left coast people are welcome to carry on chatting and commenting and I may pop in from time to time. [/color]

All who are left, that is. Must go sleep soon, and the conversation seems to have dwindled. Sigh. Left coast. Yes... where is everybody? No vampires around here? I thought this episode was going to be terrible, but it was really funny. I'm glad to see there is an arc going on with the shanshu prophecy. I was afraid they had forgotten it, since I don't think it's gotten much mileage since the beginning of season two. What does Wesley remember? Does he even remember being with Lilah at all? He did only hook up with her because he felt so estranged from the Fang Gang. He remembered her when they first went into Wolfram and Hart, because he was trying to find her contract and burn it, but was that before the mind wipe or after, and has he mentioned it since? That would explain why he's still so caught up with Fred. I felt that he had at least made some progress in getting over her because of Lilah. And what about Fred and Gunn? They seem to have NO awkward history. Was any of their relationship wiped too? I wonder if Angel realizes the extent of what they don't remember. I thought he seemed kind of surprised when Wesley said he didn't know what Angel was talking about. I can't wait for Wesley to figure it out! Does the fake prophesy still exist somewhere? I'm worried about Gunn. I feel like he's enjoying all the new power he has, and it's more the idea that he's affecting what's happening to people than that he's saving people that is giving him the rush. He used to save people every day on a personal level, but he only feels good about what he does now, when he's sort of out of the fray itself and pulling strings? Or maybe I'm reading him wrong. It's hard to remember after one viewing. Well, I had better go back to studying property law... being one of those poor suckers who don't get all the information one learns in law school injected into their head in a five minute session at an evil law firm's laboratory. : )

[glow=red,2,300]Don't even come BACK here if you're going to talk about choosing to watch something other than Angel! [/glow] No, you misunderstand Shanno . . .I watch and tape Angel for Karalee. Law & Order comes on after at 10 pm.

It was a very tight episode. Lots of stuff going on. Cool demon. Snarky Spike. Good music/choreography. Nice to see you again, WinterDreamer! I loved this episode. I was so worried about it after seeing the promos, so I was nicely surprised. SO much going on. Need to watch again and take notes. But at the end Angel rereading the prophecy . . . Angel has his hope back I believe. I loved his little speech to #5 while watching the midgets wrestle. Lots of similarities between Angel and #5

Afterall, with my tag being "Angel's Midnight Snack" what do you think I'm watching (without fail) and what am I recording? I mean, the day Angel Season 2 DVD's were released. I stopped at Walmart (which in my area opens at 6 am) on my way to the bus to catch my ferry -- was there when the doors opened. They had the boxes out and open and hadn't gotten them on the shelves yet. I took the DVD right out of the box. I'll do the same when Season 3 comes out. But this times with the new ferry schedule, I'll be coming in late to work so I can start my day knowing I now have Season 3 in my possession . . . how's that for obsessive. ;D
