Well, I didn't want to offend a n'ubie. Deb has what I said in her post, though. It wasn't too bad. Certainly not the worst thing I've ever said. Ah. Eh, if he's been lurking at all, he knows what we're like. Wonderful, deep, insightful conversations interspersed with lots and lots of innuendo and double entendre. And the reverse on Wednesdays.

Hi, Beccaelizabeth! Can I just call you Becca for short or would you prefer I stick to Beccaelizabeth? Welcome to the S'cubies. I hit Enter by mistake. Meant to add, what do you mean by Senior Partners? I know who the SR are, I just didn't understand the context in which you referred to them. Something about asking if anyone else went to them? I'm confused. Explainy this?

Lucky girl, meeting Christian Kane and getting to hear him say your name. But I'm still confused. Was the Senior Partners you refer to a convention or something?

This line was used on one of the repeat over and over and over ad clips for Buffy on FX. I never could hear the line quite right. What I heard was, If the apolcolypse comes, beat me. Which altogether made sense in the sense of not. Glad to have that cleared up. One of my favorite quotes! A great Buffy and Giles moment. Some years back, I found a Buffy keyring tag with that on it - it lives on my keyring.

Mostly I'm quoting John because I like his post title. (And we are fellow season 5 junkies!) Thanks to all who responded to my long post last part. Please forgive me for not going back and collecting names. Strangely, when writing it I wasn't conciously asking for folks to tell me their viewing background, but, given the responses it certainly read that way. It was more an acknowledgement of my own expanding understanding and appreciation of Angel as I catch up on old episodes. My memory is lousy, but it strikes me I may have been reacting to posts which commented on Angel's behavior. The comments were entirely supportable by episode evidence but were phrased "Angel always" or "Angel never"...and I think we all know that hardly anybody in the Jossverse is "always" or "never" anything. I'm just not as familiar with the body of work in the Angelverse as BtVS and I find I personally am increasingly surprised by the times Angel is actually out of character. (I.e. he can be quite funny, charming, caring, etc.) Hence, the, "have you really watched all of Angel and noticed how multi-dimensional he is?" slant of my post. Asking myself as well as anyone. Spring's post in particular sticks in my memory (no surprise there) in that she said (paraphrasing) one needn't have watched everything to make cogent comment on the episode at hand. Entirely true. I'd never have anything to say if I had to look up episodes and scripts everytime I wanted to put forth an opinion. I Again, I think my point was quibbling with semantics (and, again, no surprise there). It's one thing to observe that "in this episode Angel (or Spike or Wes) is..." and even support the observation with other specific examples. But rarely is it supportable to say (or even imply) "character xxx is ALWAYS yyyy." (Oh yeah, and total aside here. I knew that Gunn and Wes came to a parting of the ways over Fred, but I'd had NO idea how close they really were back in season 2 before she showed up. That was a heck of a friendship! Now that I know about it--I miss it.) So, anyway, thanks for the reponses. Seemed like most folks agreed with the second half of the post--that "the hardest thing to do in this world is live in it." I.e, that it's much harder to live as a champion on a day to day basis than to make the once in a lifetime sacrifice. Nan,--yes I see that episode discussion is raging. Maybe someday I'll catch up. I have few thoughts on Destiny which I'm curious to see whether anyone else has mentioned, but reluctant to post until I catch up on other's comments. That said, it is December as you all have noted and my usual list of 101 things to do has naturally expanded to 1001! So, I'll probably just drop and in and out ocassionally. Loathe to leave but RL hitting me over with head with a mallet. Sue I'm loathe for you to leave too Sue - I enjoy reading your comments so much - why can I think these thoughts and be so unable to express them as well? At least I'm glad you can, and then I can just add a hearty 'ditto!'

Hello everyone! I honestly don't know how I'm going to catch up with all the discussions, but I finally watched "Destiny" last night, so at least I can read them without spoiling myself. Can I also just say, oh my god, to the last 5 seconds? I think I need to change my avatar. Welcome back Erin! I missed you! As to catching up....we won't have anything new to talk about episode-wise for over a month, so ...we all have time to catch up...

It was really overused in the ads, but I think it expressed in 6 words her whole attitude in the early years of her mission. Glad I've added some clarity to your day!

Which altogether made sense in the sense of not. Glad to have that cleared up. That is so funny! By the way, I know you have ICQ...I found a buffy sound pack for ICQ - when it logs you on, SMG says 'Hi, I'm Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and you are?' If you get beeped inside a chat, she says 'If the apocalypse comes, beep me!' If you get a message, she says 'oh god!' Yes. I know. Geek here.

Here is the transcription I promised you yesterday of the JW discourse on Spike and Angel that appears in Angel Magazine, Issue 4, pg 15: "When we did the 'Fool For Love' flashbacks, we really learned that these guys represented two completely different asesthetics and they've gone through two completely different processes. Angel was the most evil person; he was cursed with a soul. He went through a century of navel-gazing agony before he became a champion. Spike was actually something more of a heroic figure in that he was never as evil as Angel. He was a bad guy and a killer, but he was never quite the sadist Angel was. He was also more of a populist. He really represented the sort of birth of the middle class in the 20th Century. He liked working class people. He liked the plebian stuff. He liked brawls. It wasn't all about pain and poetry. Let's face it - Angel was a puffy shirt and we all know it. And then Spike himself was the most human of vampires who actually went out and sought a soul. It's been complicated for both of them to actually have one, but their processes were so different, their reactions were so different, they are so different...And they're both in love with the same girl. "And James can act. He's good with the acting. He loves to do the work...and everybody who does the scenes with him enjoys themselves because he always comes to play. This is now my eighth year in the B uffyverse - and it's very important that you surround yourself with people who are going to come up to speed every time, because they feed off of each other and they appreciate it." I will copy and paste this onto the Interviews and Articles thread so it won't get lost here. deborah This is delicious! I love it so when Joss compliments James...it's kinda silly but it makes me smile real big.
