There's some good stuff in the comments section, too, along with one... person of insufficient imagination... who hates Anya's speech from "The Body" Julia, who needs to go program the vcr to record Angel, NOW

Deborah said: Deborah, it seems like I remember reading somewhere that JW had intended to dunk Spike in holy water, but the PTB wouldn't let him, so I guess he settled for drowning. That's not really an explanation, I know, but I like reading these trivial bits of info and thought I would pass it on. The holy water would have been more dramatic, yet extremely gross. I would hate to see that beautiful white skin covered in burns. ME realized that the FE wouldn't have had a vat of holy water. Having Caleb or one of the bringers torture him with fire or sunlight would have made more sense.

Then when it was revealed how Anya became a demon, ie. that she Had been human, her speech didn't make as much sense. She would have experienced people dying when she was human and so her confusion was less real to me. The sadness over someone not being able to enjoy things anymore was still valid.

Still, the drowning makes no EDIT: sense(shakes her head wondering why her brain goes all wonky when she's typing, even though she knows better). Back in the day (ScoopMe) we had much animated discussion of the so called drowning torture, leading to a thread on vampire physiogomy, IIRC. I liked the baptism idea. Too bad it doesn't really fit in with Joss' comments. Oh well. Another mystery.

"Drowning" as torture for a fledgling vamp, who's still not used to not breathing, maybe, but for a Master Vampire like Spike, just silly.

ME realized that the FE wouldn't have had a vat of holy water. Having Caleb or one of the bringers torture him with fire or sunlight would have made more sense. Right. It was before the introduction of Caleb but they surely could have used a Bringer, even to collect holy water. Ugh. Keep imagining what would happen to Spike's skin were he to be totally immersed in holy water. Remember the burns to Angel's chest when all Dru did is splash some on him? Just think if a vamp were actually immersed in it for any length of time. Shudder. I'm glad they didn't do that.

And complaining about Buffy throwing up after her mother dies? What kind of a person is this?

I'm catching up on the parts I missed and came across a reference to Kerrie leaving in part 72.
Is this true? Was it something we did?

Good night, all. My parents are supposed to come over tonight. Don't know what time and I'm still sitting here in the office with my bedroom a mess and things to do. Hope they're not waiting for me in the street.

I think Buffy's throwing up was one of the most realistic responses to sudden death that I've ever seen. That person must not have ever lost anyone they care about, or else they have no feelings. I didn't throw up like that when my dad died, but I didn't find his body, either. Didn't see it, I knew what he looked like when he was alive and didn't need to know how he looked after he died. (We chose cremation. Personally, I think it makes the grieving process easier--you're not forced to confront the person's body and can absorb the blow more slowly.) He had been dead for quite a while when I heard something on the news. I wanted to tell him about it and it hit me all over again.

She said she knew it was probably just something she felt, but that it was just too hard to be out of touch with the Main board. It's really a shame, since AtS won't even be on for several weeks and she could be here without being spoiled.

I just sent this request to the webmaster at buffy.nu: __________________________ An Australian fan has told me that there was a scene in the BtVS episode "Smashed," as broadcast in Australia, accurately described by this UPN Buffy website description: "Down in Spike's crypt, the bleached bloodsucker prepares to stick it to the Slayer by pulling out several goodies, including a stun gun, a rope, chains, padlocks and handcuffs. Then, he puts on a Roxy Music record, lights some candles, sets up flowers and then puts rose petals on the bed. When he is content with his preparation, he bolts from the crypt in search of Buffy."[/b] This scene never aired on American TV and is not included (apparently) on the soon-to-come Season 6 DVD either. Is it possible one of your contacts might have taped the scene as broadcast in Australia (and elsewhere abroad, for all I know)? And if so, might it be possible to render that brief scene in a way that it could be downloaded, in the manner that the extended Buffy/Spike grapple (also from "Smashed") was made available online at your site? I and my friends are extremely curious about this unseen scene (my Australian contact unfortunately did not tape it but confirms she saw it) and would appreciate any help you might be able to provide. FYI, I have been providing the reviews of current Angel episodes for the Soulful Spike Society, which you've been carrying. This certainly doesn't entitle me to a favor, but I hope it entitles me to request something which, if possible, many fans would be grateful for. Thanks for your attention. ________________________________ We'll see if this gets us anywhere. [/quote] What a great idea, Nan. They brought us the Smashed scene, so maybe we'll get lucky.

Just like Wes vomiting after he thought he killed his father. This person thought since Buffy had already seen alot of gruesome things, she shouldn't be affected by seeing her mom dead.

This person thought since Buffy had already seen alot of gruesome things, she shouldn't be affected by seeing her mom dead. Buffy saw gruesome things she could do something about. In this situation she was totally helpless, "Mommy?". I've read stories about cops who've cried like babies when they find the bodies of children and I know they had seen gruesome things. As much as I loved my father, I'm sure it will be MUCH worse when it's my mom. I'm starting to cry just thinking about it and she's sitting right across the room.
