Oh course! What was I thinking? 'Cause after being stunned and chained the music, champagne and rose petals would utterly disarm her and she'd be all Buffy-bot-like surrender to his sinister charms. Made me laugh, MaryKd It would be interesting to see if the working script of this scene say whether Spike took the stun gun & handcuffs WITH him. If not, he probably intended to ASK Buffy to put them on, like he did later. If he did, then the romantic items don't make much sense.

Sorry, the stun gun doesn't fit into a *volunteer* scenario, such as we saw when Spike asked Buffy if he'd trust her with hand-cuffs in "Dead Things."

The out-of-breath-panting is not so easily dismissed. That's deliberate rather than unavoidable. I know, especially if the script actually says they're supposed to be panting. Since the stunt people do most of the really strenous stuff, it doesn't make sense for the actors to be panting after fighting. I could see it if it's an emotional scene. I also noticed when Darla rerises, she takes several huge, gasping breaths--just didn't seem right.

Why would the writers include stage directions calling for vampires to be short of breath or gasp for air, etc..., when it's their own canon that they don't need to breathe?

I'm in the catching up process so forgive me as I post while I read... Deborah said: Joss explained this visible breath anomaly once. He said he just can't find actors good enough to not breath in the cold weather. I guess you just can't find any real vampires who are interested in going into showbiz Yes, it's too bad;it would also deprive the entirely superficial of the chance to bitch about the fact that people don't look exactly the same as they did eight years ago. Julia, real immortals just don't do showbiz, I guess

"You can use this on me, if things get out of hand, or if you're afraid I'll go game face." Like Nan's tasers for Dawn when she's with Mike.

Deborah, it seems like I remember reading somewhere that JW had intended to dunk Spike in holy water, but the PTB wouldn't let him, so I guess he settled for drowning. That's not really an explanation, I know, but I like reading these trivial bits of info and thought I would pass it on. The holy water would have been more dramatic, yet extremely gross. I would hate to see that beautiful white skin covered in burns.
