Okay for the last time: It wasn't a pig farm, nor was it Disney world or land or Euro for that matter. These were not pigs or hogs or robotronic automatons. Tehy were real live vicious boars. And it was ... errr... Silver Springs on the glass bottomed boats. The subprovince of Ocali, located in the Timucua region is what the Spaniards and indians called it back in the 1500's. And Rio del Plata is "Silver River." There! Happy? Next you can start calling me the Colonel. And no, that has nothing to do with Rob's chicken references! Sheesh! Vlad Yes, yes - we got a shot of Walt looking proud of pappa.

Why don't you just come right out and say it? You think I brained Sayid, don't you? Though yep - Locke's use of Charlie as bait . . . we continue to get the black-and-white messages on Locke, and about the island. LOL! Perfect. Great observations - had not thought of it this way, but agree wholeheartedly. No. Sorry. Shannon is the girl for Charlie. Hawaii still pretty? How nice (for you) Spike still pretty also. Shannon would eat Charlie alive. I wouldn't wish her on that sweet boy. You ARE evul, Spring! Shannon and Sawyer deserve each other. No...I like Sawyer too much for that. Altho, Sawyer could keep her in her place.

So, Charlie makes good bait because Locke knew he would run away from the grunting? Was Locke trying to teach Charlie another lesson by using him like that, or was he just using him? Was there some reason they showed Locke so bloodied up from killing the boar? I think the bloodied up stuff was more of our "duality" thing with Locke. Locke - he's majorily grateful and adoring, when it comes to The Island. I see him as worshipper at this point. I don't think he's The Island's High Priest of any kind. I think he's more like a recent convert, filled with that religious zeal and serenity - feeling very wise and generous, - no doubts, no fears, etc. But like the little undertaker at the beginning of The Godfather, I have a feeling he will have to pay for the gift The Island has given him, somewhere down the road.

I have added to my list of couples I expect to see: [/li][li]Shannon & Charlie (sorry, Karen - can't fight the inevitable [/li][li]Michael & Sun (both needy and already sharing a secret)AND [/li][li]Hurley & Claire (our island sweetie-pies)[/li][li]Kate & Sawyer (I'd be willing to bet they've already had sex with each other dozens of time in their dreams - for Sawyer, daydreams. For Kate - nightmares, but she's having them.)[/li][li]Jack & Boone (they've already frolicked in the surf together, after all.)

hee! When you mention either gay or being completely blind, my 12-year old mind perked up. Maybe he's just coming off of a relationship, or maybe he's not thinking with that part of his brain yet, but I don't think he's gay. And there is something there - by the way he was looking at Kate's picture, it seems that he is into her. Or he'd like to be... What? The 12-year-old part of my brain is much more awake than the grownup part. Seriously, good comment.

I also think Kate knows that without Jack, the group as a whole would be in a lot of trouble. He is the "one" that everyone looks to. Even those who stayed on the beach realize that he's special. Altho there are a few who don't want to admit that to themselves. Rae - love your avatar and quote. It reminded me of a thought I had last night while watching that scene with the boar. That whole "Charlie as bait" just didn't make sense to me. Do boars normally chase after people like that?A wild boar probably would, they're pretty agressive.

Was there some reason they showed Locke so bloodied up from killing the boar? You get pretty bloody when you slit an animal's throat. All those TV shows where they show someone stabbing someone and not getting blood on their hands or clothes aren't very realistic.

Locke told Charlie that he had to give something back. Locke might have already paid for his gift by making a deal with the Big Roaring Thing. I thought it awfully strange that when Charlie came to tell Locke that Jack was trapped in the cave that Locke didn't go running off to help.

Charlie and Hurley frolicked in the surf, too. I'd like to see Kate, Sun and Claire (and ok - Shannon, and all the other women) set themselves up as Queens. Because if they all start pairing off, it's gonna mean trouble, with a capital T. It's a new world. The old rules might not fit on the island. Hmmmm, I'm in a weird mood today.

Maybe some of the women, too. Sun *did* give Kate a "look" when she was stripped down to her light and dark undies. Probably just envy that Kate was so "free", but heck, who knows what she was really thinking?

I think he's already . . . willing to pay, maybe knows he's going to have to pay and even HOW he's going to have to pay, but I don't see anything to suggest he's actually paid anything yet. Not that he hasn't - just not seeing it. Hmmm. Interesting catch. Hadn't thought about it. It was like Locke knew it was going to be OK, like he knew they didn't need him - or maybe, like he wanted to leave it all up to Charlie - suspected or knew that this was Charlie's turn to shine/be a hero?

OK, while I appreciate everyone's responses to my Hurley post, I stand by my original opinion: he has generally been portrayed as somewhat clueless comic relief, though I will concede he's generally been sweet-natured and non-judgmental. Wouldn't it be nice if an overweight character occasionally showed some intellgence and leadership skills on television? Seems they're always portrayed to a fat guy stereotype of some kind. Now...I WILL hold out and wait to see if there is more to be done with the character, but the signs I've seen so far are not encouraging. I like the theory of Jack's potential homosexuality, though I don't think they'll go there. I think the tattoos will tell us a lot more about the issues his mother was referring to...maybe he joined the Merchant Marine or something. I have a fresh theory about who brained Sayid: the dog! He was skulking through the bushes in the first couple of episodes...obviously planning something. Maybe the island gave him supernatural strength, and he simply wanted to play fetch with Sayid. How about that? Huh? There's a lot more overweight men on TV and in movies than women. And the guys usually have attractive, thin wives or girlfriends. Roseanne, Carmen Manheim, and the women who played Mimi are the only ones I can think of that had very significant roles. Carmen Manheim's character was certainly the only one of those 3 who seemed to have a brain. The women who plays Grace on Will & Grace was told to lose weight when she got that part, because she was too "curvy." Even Tyra Banks has been criticized because she's a size 8, not a 2!! Anybody notice that none of the young women on Lost are a pound overweight? As someone who's struggled with their weight there entire adult life, I find that just as bothersome as Hurley being portrayed as a nice, happy person.

Locke and Jack had a "moment", after Locke saved Jack from falling off that cliff. Charlie and Hurley frolicked in the surf, too. True. But Boone is so much cuter than Locke, and Jack and Locke weren't all wet and entwined and such. And Karen - Charlie is for Shannon. I thought we were clear on that. Seriously - if I had to guess right now, I wouldn't guess Jack gay. But I do think it is a legit theory. Yes! Please let them all get on their own two feet first, establishing themselves and their individual roles - before any pairings begin. OF course, I thought I saw kissage in the trailer (not sure there, but trailer-talk not spoilery, right? Someone correct me if I am wrong).

He did ask if there were plenty of people digging him out, so maybe he thought he'd just be in the way.
