Hey now... I like Sawyer. In fact, he may be right about my favorite character, tied with Locke. And it certainly has nothing to do with any desire to roll around in the sand with either of them shirtless. I think. Oh God, do I need counseling? Vlad Yeah, huh. I have no desire to see Sawyer tied with Locke. That's a little too kinky.

2. The flashforward was Locke's vision. It didn't really happen yet. The show will NOT pick up after the rescue and "flip" to being about "lost souls" in society trying to make it back to the idyllic island they didn't appreciate. Most of them gagged at such a scenario and said they'd stop watching if that were the case. Corollary to #2. They do not believe the losties will ever be rescued, except maybe on the series finale. Hee! Fun class! The flashforward is really a puzzle. How does it fit into the LOST timeline? Was it actually the realtime story and what we saw happening on the island the flashback? Had Jack, and the mysterious guy who hung himself - or was killed - been keeping an awful secret after coming home - the lie Jack referred to - that caused Jack to start drinking and drugging. I believe that they gave Jack that scary Moses beard for something other than to make him look extra special angsty. My (current) nonspoiled theory --- I think Jack goes back (to the future) to free the rest of his people (ala Moses). And if that's the case, how does Jacob fit into that theory? Can't wait until February! Ooooooh, this is an intriguing explanation for the scary EmoBeard!

For a season that started out kind of slow, that was the best season finale I watched this year! I loved the good death for Charlie. Crossing himself at the end, floating with the lighter portal at this head like a halo, the former altarboy had come full circle and redeemed himself. And Hurley with the VW WMD!!! About the unknown deceased, the screen cap I saw would definitely have it a man. If the name begins Jo... or Ja....., my initial guess was that it could be John Locke despite the partial of what appeared to be ending of a different surname. However, today my lunchtime powerwalking buddy, when I told her about the screencap, immediately thought of the unknown Jacob. Now I'm leaning to that. I may have never been on the island and was some sort of hologrpahic projection. Obviously, neither family nor friend - and my closed captioning did put it at "neither". leftylady Excellent imaging for Charlie. I didn't notice the halo-like window. I didn't have the closed captioning on, but I rewound that scene quite a few times, and I swear that Jack said 'either'. Neither makes more sense, tho.

I noticed the halo look on Charlie and the crossing by the good altar boy and the redemption of the druggie. However, Charlie, was the only reason I kept watching the show in the first place. So, I am going to cut and run. Got better things to mess up my mind. Dragon

OK, I can't believe I didn't put this together before, but when Ben says that the reason he was brainwashing Karl was to prevent him from getting Alex pregnant, I think he means that he doesn't want her to die, since pregnancy --> death on the island. I was so caught up in the "boyfriend getting the daughter pregnant" being a stereotypical fear of fathers, particularly controlling ones, that I totally forgot about that. And brainwashing is, yes, extreme, but that shows a depth of feeling Ben has for Alex, which is interesting.

Pop Up Video sez that Charlie's mission to the Looking Glass station is an homage to Return of the Jedi. I totally did not pick up on that, and it's soooo obvious now.
ETA: And Hurley showing up with the van at the beach is a reference to Han showing up to help at the end of A New Hope. Though that one is not as strong a connection.
