Well hurray! Third time's the charm. I'm still not satisfied though, as I had to publish this to an MSN group instead of to my earthlink website. Vlad, I'll email you tomorrow and ask you lots of technical questions about ftp'ing and stuff. :-)
In the meantime, enjoy the picture of JM and his hands...

This is from the website of a fine Buffy/Xpike (and she does fine Xander, Dawn, Willow, Tara, and Giles, too!) writer named Barb Cummings. We can't put it on our website, because it's hers, but I thought some who, like me, are foregoing spoiler-squid might enjoy it. In case the line breaks don't travel well, I've indicated them by double slashes (//):
Look At Me, I'm Spoiler-Free (To the tune of "Look At Me, I'm Sandra Dee")
Verse 1// Look at me, I'm spoiler-free// Lousy with serenity// Some fret that Spike's gonna snack on some tyke// Not me--I'm spoiler-free!//
Sides and shooting scripts? I'll pass!// GoBetween just chaps my ass// Wildfeeds I shun 'cause they're not any fun// Completely spoiler-free!//
(Bridge) If Spike drinks or swears, or bleaches his hair// Or picks up some chick's cigarettes// Or appears semi-nude to get Buff in the mood,// I don't want to hear it just yet!//
Verse 2 Tensai! Wendy! Let me be!// Keep those spoilers far from me!// Eyes I'll avert, that way no one gets hurt// To keep me spoiler-free!//
Oh, no no, you spoiler ho,// Don't tell me, I don't want to know!// I trust in Joss, if you don't, it's your loss// I'm simply spoiler-free!//

I need to know why Anya is afraid of bunnies. I thought we were going to learn the answer in "Selfless" maybe during the flashbacks. But no. Did the answer wind up on the cutting room floor?
Will Anya die horribly from fear of a bunny run amok in the final episode?

Yessir, yes indeedy, our very own Ms. Lee P. has a profile. Infact she has a pic and appropriately enough...it's in profile! *L* Go check out your fellow S'cubie at the S'cubie Website in the Profile of a S'cubie section.
And with that, your friendly Technopagan calls it a day...

I've noticed Spike's hands too. The fingernails are often dirty--even when he isn't painting them black.
I always thought that was an odd bit of poofterism on Spike's part. You'd think that was something he'd sneer at, but we've even seen him putting the polish on in the privacy of his crypt.

Alexandra: Should we start part 13? I've noticed we're slinking lower and lower and we're already at 400 posts (WOW!). Doesn't matter to me, just thought I would suggest it. -Lee Edited By Lee Hollins at 3/12/2003 9:08:00 AM.

Yes, I too dislike the black fingernail bit. I have noted on occasion that only one or two nails have been black which leads me to wonder whether JM is in the habit of slamming car doors on his fingers. (the only time I have ever had black fingernails.)
(Diane, maybe Spike saw the black fingernails not as a Poofter attribute but as part of his Bad Boy image.)
As to the S'cubie parts, I too would like to see a part 13, but would like to point out that it has taken us an inordinately long time to get to 400 posts in this part, time was when 400 posts happened within three days. Thank goodness for the new blood. Our new posters have rejuvenated the board, bringing our posting total back up.
So let me say this again, Patti, Rae, Welcome A'board.

Yeah, I had forgotten this part started on the 4th - it has taken a while.
The black nail polish bugs me too - not that I am opposed to men wearing nail polish (well, as long as it's not hot pink 'cause that color doesn't look good on anybody! It bothers me when only two nails are painted - Mom always taught me that when you do something, you do it all the way, 100% (and yes, I'm applying this lesson to nail polish!)

Nan, BC happens to be one of my favorite writers on and of Buffy for both non-fiction and fan-fiction. She authored that essay I've referenced a bizillion times, "Season Six: A Letter to Mutant Enemy" (I Emailed her and asked her if she actually sent it to them and if so did she ever get a response? The answer was yes and no in that order.) and her fan-fiction ranks among the very best I've read. Right now I'm impatiently awaiting chapter 35 of her story "Necessary Evils" which is the sequel to "A Raising In the Sun". Have you read these? "Necessary Evils" often reminded me Spring in particular (she has many thoughtful posts on this topic to her credit, often opposed to mine) because one of the strongest themes running throughout the story is soulless Spike's struggles to identify what is the morally right thing to do in various situations and how this ongoing conflict shapes his relationships with Buffy and the others. (Spring, if you're reading this please consider this a recommended read.)

deborah: Well . . . the only thing I have read of Barb's is that "Letter to ME". I liked her writing style very much - she is very talented, bright, and insightful. I also agreed with much of what she said, EXCEPT she seemed to be saying that Buffy should have been written differently in Season 6.
I agreed with her that Buffy's actions toward Spike were wrong; but I didn't agree that ME was wrong for writing Season 6 as they did. I wouldn't have had it any other way.
I can't buy into the idea of a compassionate Season 6 Buffy, giving Spike the tender loving care and endless patience needed to try, perhaps hopelessly, to get him to understand right from wrong. I don't think a saint could have accomplished that (much less a traumatized 21 yr old who was having wild sex with him).
So - I have been kind of assuming (perhaps unfairly) that she is writing Buffy unrealistically - well, unrealistically in my view of reality, and that's the only one I've got to go with. So I haven't been tempted to check it out.
Also, reading the S'cubie fanfic is the only Buffy fiction reading I've ever done. I've been kind of worried about novels or fanfic confusing me - you know, forgetting what is "cannon" and what is not. I have this idea in my head that I want to keep my view of the Buffyverse "pure", if that makes sense.
Rusty mentioned I ought to try my hand at it myself, and that has stuck in my mind. I am kind of tempted . . . not to write independent stories like Rusty and Robert are doing so well, but to write little episodes that fill in the gaps of what we've seen - like . . . what happened after Buffy kissed Spike in the alley in OMWF? How did the kiss end? etc.
Right now though, I have started working on analyzing Becoming Part 1. As always, I start out staring at the screen blankly thinking "this time I am really stumped."
