I was going to say that I think she used some of the money she got from the 10% commission on last week's caper with Georgia. That's a good idea - I'd forgotten about her 10%. Lola

Oh, Nancy would so kick her ass!!! Well, maybe not. Nancy probably doesn't have a taser. And you can NEVER have too many connections... But she sure has come a long way in learning the business in only a year. (In the flashbacks she doesn't seem much like the hard-boiled detectived.) And, I'm still wondering what year in high school? At least junior. (I'm thinking long range here--will the shows creator have her graduate, etc.)

Oh dear - 7 pages already?
I haven't read a word because I thought it best not to read until AFTER I'd finished my review - which I just did. I just sent it to Vlad. Whew. I went for short and sweet and first impressions.
OK. So I'll go take a look at what you all have said. No doubt you have brought up points I've not even thought about - but that's a good thing!
Lemme go see.

Kudos, Patti! So, do you think that Veronica's mom was having an affair with the elder Kane? I don't think Lianne was having an affair with Jake Kane. Too easy. Maybe Duncan, 'cause stuff like that happens, except he claimed to be a virgin last week, and I kinda believed him. Also, why the surveillance on Veronica? It seems like there was worry about danger more . . . real than getting hurt by finding out about affairs. Very mysterious.

I gotta say Weevil is always my favorite part of the story and I want more of him. In the story. I was disappointed in Logan - I thought last week that he was basically a good kid etc...but now I think that whole crowd are corrupt through and through... I haven't trusted Troy from the beginning - but I was surprised that he's GONE - I didn't know they were going to say adios to him so early. I agree with you Rae - I don't see how Veronica could be expected to be all that welcoming to her dad's new girlfriend when she doesn't even know where her mom is or why she left, etc. Plus, I think she was really very courteous and adult with them both. She wasn't rude - she couldn't be expected to jump for joy. This show is kinda grim. But I'm sucked in. Agreed on all thoughts, though I thought that Veronica was going for the "passive agressive" thing when she bailed on the dinner, and was, indeed, deliberately being snotty under a polite veneer. Not that I blame her. She's too young, and it's too soon, for her to be able to accept Keith dating.

I missed alot of tonight's ep. I missed that V had sent out phones. She must have access to a lot of money to be able to do stuff like that. I was so sad for her dad and the girlfriend. They had something special. It does seem like dad is ready to move on, tho. Yes - his disassociation from his wife seems to be of longer standing than Veronica's. To him, it feels like past time to move on. To Veronica, it definitely doesn't. I think, because she doesn't know everything Keith knows, it all feels way too soon, to her.

I'm with you there Rae. It was way too intense way too soon. I think she just so wanted to be loved again. Sort of a backstep with the Logan thing tho from the truce they seemed to reach last week. Things are uneasy and I think sort of . . . jerkily changing . . . between Logan and Veronica. They came together a bit last week, and neither was too proud to interact with other, to do right by Lily. This ep, we see that one good turn doesn't change everything overnight, for either party. Veronica snarks immediately at Logan, calling him and Luke "monkeys," etc. The deep-seated hurts and anger are going to keep rearing their ugly heads until more is revealed and released.

The Troy part wasn't depressing - cause I didn't trust or like him - but just my feeling now that Logan has little to recommend him - my hopes that Veronica and Duncan would get back together are pretty much kaput- unless she can turn on a dime several times... And that scene in the restaurant and then that dim little birthday party....where's the hope? Gosh, Patti. You have your sad hat on. Maybe if I had posted right after the ep, I would have felt the same way. But, it's morning, so . . . I thought there was lots of hope for Veronica and Keith's relationship, and for Veronica and her realtionship with her mom. And also lots of hope for Veronica in general. She is learning some good lessons about moving forward and about seeing truths. Like you, I am getting sucked in!

I thought so a couple episodes ago - now with these pictures of Veronica with her head circled - like her mom was being threatened with Veronica's death if she didn't leave....I think its much more serious than 'just' an affair - life or death serious. I think maybe she knew who killed Lily...? At least as Matthew said about somthign - that's my theory this week. Hmmmm. I think that Veronica's mom is likely to know something about the murder. But her upset at Veronica being with Duncan proceeds the murder, as does (I think) the surveillance. So something major was already going on, before the murder, that led, somehow, to the murder. . . . And I agree, it's more than just love affair type stuff, I think.

I'm hoping the message will be on the machine or on her cell... Oh - how about the Scooby Doo references? sort of a... 3 degrees from Buffy thing *grin* Definitely, definitely. That reference gave me grin.

**nods muchly about the Veronica and Keith pain** Man, some of the voice overs by Veronica - so bitter, so young! The line about how being abandoned by your mom right after your best friend has been murdered. And then when she breaks down and is crying and tells her dad that he does this for a living and should be able to find her mom and bring her back? Man! Lola **ouch, ouch, I should remember that playing with my very feisty kitty can be dangerous, ow, ow, claws in my leg ow!** Yes, Veronica is way too bitter and way too filled with the feeling that "the best is behind her" for a girl her age. But if the show lasts, my guess is we will see her come out of it. I LOVED the argument scene between Veronica and her dad. Really well done.

Very nice acting. Kind of still awkward, yet you can tell that they were really starting to care about each other. He's sorry to be doing it, but you know he's gotta put his daughter first and so he's just trying to be very calm. And how can she argue with that? Just that little bit of stiffness as she pulled away and slightly crying. Her line about "just pull the bandaid off" - very nice bit of writing. Lola Really really going to bed now. Oh crackers! I loved that band-aid line and meant to try to refer to it in my review. Ah, well - that's what this thread is for - bringing up all kinds of stuff that the reviewer may not even think of (which believe me, you guys have already done!).

Regarding the exchange between Buffy and Giles (below) if occurred to me to wonder whether Veronica could/would have an exchange like this, maybe with her Dad.
Sadly, I think she is already too cynical to even ask for the lie, let alone try to believe it. Like Wes, she'd rather know the bitter truth.
