Thanks, Vlad. I just posted this to the ScoopMe editors: ______________ HELLLLLLLLLLLLLP! When the Soulful Spike Society #14 was put up today (on the BtVS Miscellaneous Board), Alexandra evidently got the link to the S'cubie website wrong (first post of #14). It's not working. Vlad, our resident technopagan, tells me that link should read as follows: Soulful Spike Societywith left and right arrow keys substituted for the brackets in the above example. We now can't get back into that first post to correct the link. Will one of you editor-types please do it for us? Pretty please with Spike's duster spread out nicely all over it? Thanks, and we'll try so very hard not to do it again (promise!) Nan

No Rae, I've never done anything like that before.
Not counting picking songs for characters, which as it happens, I was doing this morning...(that was a fun post on the misc. board)

I assume, when Buffy ends, the BtVS Miscellaneous Board will be shut down, although it may/might be left alone as long as the reruns are airing on F/X.
Since I seem to have become the designated contact person for the ScoopMe editors, I could ask Kim what they intend to do with this board, and when. But I think maybe I've commandeered enough of their attention for one day--I'll wait a few days, then ask.
Though I'm the one that raised this uncomfortable question, we don't have to deal with it now. Maybe just think about what we really WANT to do. And our thinking would certainly be better if we had a clearer idea of what some of our options are.
As I said, I'll wait a few days, then ask Kim what's to become of this segment of the vastness that is ScoopMe, that's become home for us.

I have enjoyed the really insightful comments made by all at this board and I consider myself a true Spike-aholic
BUT
If I were Wood I would cease and desist from attempting to kill Spike only until the averted Apocalpyse and if we both survived I would then kill him. (by any means necessary)
I keep putting myself in Wood's place, his mother was the hope of the world at that time just as Buffy is functioning at this time, ( and yes i do think she is deemphasizing the importance of community in maintaining her tenuous hold on that status)
But
Just as Buffy and Willow took on Glory and the rest of the S'cubies over their all encompassing love for Tara and Dawn respectively- so too should we expect Wood to feel that way. He has not been their epiphanies of world love and discovery.
NOR
Would I attempt to be fair about it - Spike is a vampire and as he said it is part of the game.
I do not agree with the tenor of the postings over at the Episode board but I am in full sympathy with the Wood brigade and I do think some of the Spike sympathy is due in no small part to his gorgeous cheedkbones and dashing, swirling coat-
To both of which I would remain immune were I Wood and not Andrew.( or myself)

All well and good, Ellie, but then there are those like me who find the most fascinating part of Spike's anatomy is his brain (and no, I do NOT want to discuss "Spock's Brain" from Original Star Trek, one of the embarrassments of the ages).

For those of you who, like me, read everything related to Spike, there is a new Nancy Holder novel entitled 'Blood and Fog' due out in May. It can be pre-ordered on Amazon. The cover shows a photo of Buffy and Spike (season 5 or 6 looks like) and the blurb says 'Buffy and Spike on the trail of Jack the Ripper'.
I've not read any Nancy Holder novels (I think she co-wrote the Watcher Guides, which I have and they're pretty good) and it may be lame, but I got it anyway...

Hmm. I have never spotted or tried to spot BtVS character look-a-likes, but if I ever spot a Spike-double, I will let you guys know . . . though you are likely to wonder "where's Spring?" for several weeks first.

Just a note of appreciation for the way you two "stepped up to the plate" over at the episode board, not letting us all "take the heat" for your comments, though I think I speak for all when I say we gladly would have.
So you were a little hot under the collar . . . I think it's extremely forgiveable and I admire your direct approach in responding over at the ep board.
Gotta say - I was surprised to find some of those folks were reading this board or had noticed it at all. But I liked that.

Patti - so you think he took the duster 'cause it just plain looks so good on him? By George, I think you've got it! This is my favorite explanation so far. And of course, I am in complete agreement with his decision!

ellie - I also have sympathy for Wood, I'm with you there. And I agree there was some plainly cheekbone related sympathy for Spike over at the ep board. Along with some "jealous of the cheekbones" related antipathy for him.
But I honestly think Spike scared the bee-jeepers out of Wood last night . . . I'm not sure he won't retreat for sometime, if not forever.
I can't see Wood trying to kill Spike in some sneaky way like poisoning his drink, or shooting him with a wooden arrow from a faraway perch. He would want to win in hand-to-hand battle, and he can't possibly.

Since we have weeks until the next Buffy episode, and since Vlad apparently likes the notion of BOTH a new thread re Lies My Parents Taught Me AND an essays page, I have an idea to throw out.
How about if we contribute (via Vlad) essay topics/titles for about a week and Vlad posts the list on the S'cubie site. There should be about 10 or more, as a random number. Then, when the gun sounds, these topics will be up for grabs and anybody who wants to attempt an essay claims one of the topics--first come first serve, via a posting to Vlad. He assigns names to the topics. And everybody who's claimed has a specific timespan (I'd suggest 7-10 days) to produce, polish, and deliver the essay.
If this sounds like fun but somebody who wants to do an essay doesn't see a topic they like, independent essays are also permitted and welcomed, but have to be produced in the same time period. Then we could comment on them (read: tear them to bloody shreds) here in our posting area on the Misc board. Or the essays themselves could be posted on the Misc board as topics, and discussion could proceed from there, with drop-in strangers free to comment too, if that's what's preferred.
What do you think?

Vlad - right back at ya on the kind words. You've been very instrumental in making this group what it is.
On the essay area - well, let me encourage anyone thinking that they might like to write an essay on a BtVS subject for the website to do so! If you get a submission Vlad, then I say, start an essay section. I can imagine some interesting topics that cross over episodes and Seasons and so would be quite different than my episode analysis.
ON STAYING TOGETHER: Let's play that by ear. I am guessing that either Angel will be renewed, and/or we will have a spin-off to hang our hats on. We can move this board to the Misc area of the new show - or Angel . . . well, I dunno if that would be appropriate since Spike is not a character on Angel. We could keep this board here for quite some time I think - and probably keep conversation going based on re-runs and Angel, if there is no new show. I mean, Ally McBeal still shows up as a listing on these boards, and that's been cancelled awhile, hasn't it? I do so hate the thought of losing you all.

Aww shucks, thanks guys.
No really, you all made me welcome from day 1.
All I meant by not "technically" being a S'cubie is that my email is not listed on the secret email board that nobody can find and I've never filled out one of the "profiles". Truth to tell that's why I've never tried to become "official"--afraid to have to think up clever answers. But, seriously, I did wonder if Vlad wanted to put a button on the site marked "How to officially sign-up."
Nope, never felt like a "second-class" citizen. But thanks for the vote-in.
I also semi-disavowed being an "official" member as a reaction to the implication that only one of those "crazy Spike-lovers at the SSS board" would be making these posts.
Go, Deb. Yes we did both make our apologies. I have to admit I knew when I wrote that line that I had James particularly in mind--and that WAS uncivil of me.
Is it possible that some of the folks at the Episode board are really clueless that even though they may not say it in so many words (and some do) that some of their posts still manage to come across conveying the ATTITUDE which we interpret as: "Because you are a real Spike-fanatic you are self- deluded and therefore your opinions, no matter HOW MUCH YOU BACK THEM UP WITH EPISODE-BASED EXAMPLES--can be discounted just because you admit you really like Spike."
Maybe they truly do not realize that I/we read/hear that "tone" in some (certainly not all or even the majority) of the posts. Maybe we are being over-sensitive, but where do we find an impartial judge? That's the nice thing about this board. If we think we are hearing some unwritten undertone we just ask, and get it all cleared up. And yes, that is impossible to do when there are about 10 new posts every minute.
Well, I hope our apologies are acknowledged and sincerely accepted because we meant them sincerely. But I'm not going to stop posting on the Ep board--remember, I'm originally from Pittsburgh and my opinion, by golly, COUNTS!
Teaser: And some day soon I'm going to follow up on a post I made early in Part 13 about my daughter's friends trip to the Posting Board Party.

The difficulty of posting at both boards is forgetting what I've said at each. But I think keeping Spike so very "GRAY" is that it would make the Spike spin-off possibilites so much more interesting--not just Angel: Part II.
