Remind me to thank someone for casting you. haha go Logan and Duncan. I don't like Jackie either but Veronica is coming accross as a bit jealous. that poor teacher oohhh Wallace's mum has a past. Beev will think the investigation into his father is his fault. Well it is in a way but sheesh. Poor kid.

Weevil's?! Wow, I so don't remember that. Lamb said they found it outside the bar where Curly was last seen... Yep. Here's the screen cap of Weevil and the earring: Remember that little screencap of the jeep at the petrol station when Veronica and Weevil were talking. Maybe this has something to do with it? Somebody monitoring both Veronica and/or Weevil? Maybe giving a signal that she 'was due to get on the bus any time soon'.

Ooohhh - and again with the fashion choices. Curly and Aaron Echolls? Boy, this is heating up now. I didn't catch the gym bag bit either. Wow - great start! Would've looked good on a 12 year old. She looked good on the exercise bike - do you think that was a body double? I hear the actors like to use them. It looked like her ass to me Also I know you can fake tattoo's but it looked identical to the top part of CC's real tattoo she has on her back.

Did you notice the UPN plug for "featuring music by the Dandy Warhols" along with the ending credit? The network is really pushing the music connection. Oh yes, I did notice that! The song playing at the end of the ep was by the group, I guess. I get why they do that; I know they do that kind of thing on Smallville and other teen-centric shows, too. Rob Thomas may be taking cues from Joss: Buffy utilized The Bronze to feature hip new bands, and now Veronica Mars has Java the Hut and karaoke night. Happens on The O.C. a lot. One of the characters Seth has some 'favourite bands' and these same bands either a) have music featured on the show or b) make a guest apperance now and again at one of the clubs the characters go to. I remember sometime during season 2 Beck used an episode to promote 5 songs from his new album and on the adverts for the programme they pimped this fact. Sort of like a 'tune in for episode blah blah and here 5 new songs from Beck, by the way his albums out now'. Not so different from ad placement I guess. Something Apple are really good at! Marketing guys at Apple get it done regarding putting their products (macs, ipods etc.) in TV shows and films.

Veronica Mars 2x03 __________________ 'Beev' waved to his dad and looked happy, he didn't wave back. Meanie. Very meanie. Actually, almost worse than meanie - ignorie. One of my favorite things about the end of last season and the start of this one is Keith moving on and Veronica being happy for her dad as he moves on. Yup. I kind of don't want to see what it is, I was hoping for an angst-free relationship for them. Although, put that way, what relationship is completely angst-free? Like you said, in a way, but only in a sort of way. And Beev will probably blame himself. Instead of blaming dad - like he should!

Oh, and this random thought occurred to me after the last time I posted. When Logan and Kendall were getting it on in Logan's bed and Veronica called him on his cell phone, Logan said something like, "Sweet son of man, saved by the bell." That struck me as odd when I first heard it, because why would a teenage guy want to be "saved" from having sex? I don't think a line like that was written to be off-the-cuff. The more I think about it, I believe it's an indication that Logan does want to be saved from his downward spiral of skipping school and meaningless sex with his friends' stepmom. And this may be a stretch, but is being saved by "a bell" a reference to the actress who plays Veronica, Kristen Bell? TOO much of a stretch? The way I gather, it's more in the way of network mandated tweeking than Rob copying Joss. Hopefully, it will work out and not distract from the real show.

Sorry (as usual) for the delay. RL (again as usual) intervened. Will try to get better.

Bradley Cooper. He said that in a recent interview that it was why he did leave Alias. (Now he's got the lead in the new FOX sitcom Kitchen Confidential.) Made me feel a little guilty as I was one who didn't like Will Tippen at first. But like many fans, I grew to really enjoy his character. Guy that sensitive should avoid the Internet boards from now on. Would've looked good on a 12 year old. She looked good on the exercise bike - do you think that was a body double? I hear the actors like to use them. It looked like her ass to me It was definitely all CC. The show was seamless from her butt to her face -- no way to use a body double.

Sue! I see your review is up. Nice job. I like the way you organized it. And yes, the overall theme of the ep does seem to be about the "what's behind door #2" as all our characters pull back the curtain, to one extent or another.
I loved the same scenes you did, and I definitely like the whole Duncan/Logan confrontation best - from the schoolboy fight in the hallway, to the "stinging" tears in Logan's eyes at the end. "Your father killed my sister." That's a lot for those two to deal with; don't know if they ever will.
I did think the guy who was following Alicia was a real lawman. He had that badge at the ready, was carrying it with him like it was something he always carried with him. I agree though, that whatever is going on, Alicia isn't likely to really be a "bad guy," ultimately. I sure hope not. I love her and Keith together. And again, this week, I join you in the Keith-love.
On Logan & Kendall - I think that is totally dead in the water. It was "playmate" time for both sides, is my read. He isn't going to "stand by her," and she's not going to expect or want him too. I imagine she'll try to flee and join Dick Sr, but don't know if she will be successful. We'll see.
Thanks for the "Love Hurts" lyrics. This song was surely all about the Veronica-Logan-Duncan triangle . . . good catch on the way it goes along with Logan's "message of the day," that Veronica listens to.

Great review Sue. I loved your hook and the analysis that followed. I agree with Spring - I don't think Logan will feel any attachment or loyalty to Kendall whatsoever. And I still wonder if this seduction of the poor little rich boy was something planned and known about by Big Dick. Because he sure didn't seem that upset or surprised by the pics Beav showed him.
I too love the portrayals of teachers by RT. They all are portrayed as people, not just stock characters. Even the dastardly Mr. Rook had contrasting layers as he really seemed to be a good teacher as well as a sleezebag.
And I agree - in fact give credit to Rae who I think was the first person I read this from that the karaoke was all about the triangle. Even - and this is also an observation by Rae - to the way the blonde Jeanie was wearing her hair just like Veronica is now.
Again - great review Sue. I really enjoyed reading it and I also agree on the great scenes. This truly was a terrific episode.

Excellent review, Sue!
You included the lyrics to "Love Hurts," which begins with the lines:
Love hurts, love scars Love wounds, and mars any heart
Pretty appropriate song choice, eh? Rob is a sly one.
I liked all the scenes you mentioned, but my favorite scene is the Veronica/Logan face-off in his bedroom. Logan refers to Veronica in this scene as his guardian angel, complete with mocking up a nun's wimple with his towel. Last year, he told her that all he wants to do is protect her. Those two really look out for each other, even when they're on the outs. It's actually kind of sweet.

Wow! What a throrough post! She brought up things I would have never thought of. Here's another post of hers that is interesting... talks about the apple images we keep getting over and over again. I had to link it because she went back to include something that I posted about elsewhere - with her take on it (pears vs apples).

GREAT review Sue!
Oh goodness! There were alot of doors that opened this week! Wow! SO the title does fit overall. And Veronica opening up that door to Logan's room, that really what was happening this whole episode. Excellent string to tie the episode together with!
OMG. Woody! I knew it! He's doing some resume packing as well, ain't he?
The chart? So great! Look at all those people faking it out...
I'm wondering about this one. Yes, it does look quite possible that they are going to lose it all. Then, I thought Logan would lose his status too, after his father was revealed as a murderer. But in this case, it's a bit more than just Mr. C, it's the company. Think of all the jobs that will be lost from this, not to mention all the Mr. Popes that invested stock. And I wonder will the info come out that Veronica was the one to destroy the family and company also?
Amen to that! I love how refreshing it is to see. The way they took those extra few seconds to pan out to the corner of the room as he takes that picture
Oh, they better not do anything to destroy my Keith. They will hear my scream from a mile away if they ever THINK of tampering with his character...
Ain't he just! Hey, I never realized until now just how similar he and Keith really are. Interesting that they are the only two open books...
YES! I had thought the same thing about that one! That just really jumped out at me. I had thought they were making a throwaway only to later prove to be meaningful.
Yes. I'm thinking that the specific choice of words used, "bimbo" and "sports star" will come into play considering two of the five new characters seen this year has been labelled as a bimbo and a sports star respectively. Remember that 'reeking of bimbo' line....
OoO! Very nice!
Yes, that whole part seemed abit fishy because when he first noticed her, he called her out as a personal friend or acquaintance of some sort. Not at all law and business like. Then in the next two scenes, his character is totally switched around to a cross between Clarence Weidman and a hit man. Struck me as very weird...So I think you're right not to fall for that...
Oh, God. Kill me now...
Yes. I definitely tend to agree. It does seem very in character for her to do so. I'm thinking 'Veronica Opening her eyes' is going to be a huge theme this year.
And "Love Hurts"? Totally RT's anthem for the year. HEHE. Pain! Okay, I know, I'm horrible. But what makes a better slate for drama? I know of no other...
