::Here's a possible debate topic, or maybe an essay someone might like to try their hand at -- motives vs. actions, which define a person as good or evil? I submit Spike's attack on Buffy and Jasmine's (apparent) desire to save the world as potential talking points.
If it is an essay situation, I think it might be interesting if two people tackled it, writing point-counterpoint. This, of course, would play out best if the question of Jasmine's real motives are never really answered, i.e., we're left asking whether what she said about her intent was true or just more lying on her part. ::
David, you've sparked a wickedly wonderful idea in what passes for my brain.
Lee, what do you think of this?
Take a debate topic. A REALLY juicy one. David's suggestion has potential. Now, each write an essay taking a side of the topic. NOW, instead of posting the essay, we mail it to each other.
Next, each of us, with her co-writer's creation in her hot little hands (down, David) writes a piece in SUPPORT of the essay.
Assume you've taken pro and I've taken con. You send Pro to me. I send Con to you. You write an addition in support of Con and I write in support of Pro.
Mail 'em back and forth a few times for editing, refinement, etc., and send 'em to Vlad for posting on the website. What we should end up with is a brilliantly co-authored piece exploring all sides of our issue.
Whatcha think?

I can't answer for Lee (though I suspect she'd agree,) but I'd debate you on any issue you like. Please feel free to jump into any of ours whenever you please. You can post your own opinion, or we can assign you one (in case you hadn't noticed, Lee and I often take a side we don't actually agree with. It's great mental exercize.)

//I do know how to spell "exercise." //
And I was just figuring you were being very Continental.
At least you didn't spell it "exorcise". Then we've got the whole Freudian slip thing to contend with.

I tihnk the pics are great too... I can't wait to see the next batch. (The commentaries are mine..I hope Patti doesn't mind them or I will take them down.) She's still writing her report from the trip and she assures me it's gonna be good.

When I read the comments, something sounded like they came from you. Oh, Patti is quite creative in her own right, but those had a distinctive Vlad spin to them.

Lee, I had to search PAGES of Part 21 to find the post I missed: ::191 - Diane 4/30/2003 11:49:32 AM Lee Hollins That's fine with me. We don't have to do that particular debate if you don't want to. Granted, I can't think of another topic right now but I'm sure either I will or another S'cubie could suggest another one. Hmmm...I might have just thought of one. What did you think about Season 6? Did you like it? I was thinking we could debate the merits of Season 6 - good or bad? Weak or strong? I personally loved Season 6 but I know it gets a lot of flack from viewers. They felt it was too dark, strayed too far from the other seasons, etc. I know this has probably been done to death (why does it seem I can only suggest done to death topics?). Just a suggestion, take it for whatever it's worth. It's fine if you don't want to do this one - no skin off my back. ::
I had this mental image of you post-Darth Rosenberg from that last comment.
I loved Season Six. It's a difficult season, but all the more engrossing for all of that. However, it's a big project. Not like analyzing a single aspect, character or event. Season Six arguably the most complex Buffy season of all, possibly even including this one. It is SO complex I'd like to try handling it differently from the way we've debated before.
I would like for us each to post an essay analyzing the season from any perspective we choose. Having done that, we then dissect each other's essay stating what we agree or disagree with and why--in detail. It's going to be a lot of work, but I think it will be fun.

Oh wait. You didn't ask me. Never mind.

Or is the Biography on Buffy. Either way, very cool. And it made me remember this exchange from Doppelgangland:
BUFFY: Hey.
XANDER: Willow, did you remember to tape Biography last Friday?
WILLOW: (absently) Uh-huh.
BUFFY: See, I told you. Old Reliable.

I try to catch up, so I print off about 20 pages of posts (about 70 pages printed at 10 pt font) Then I come back the next morning to find another 15 pages of posts!
Aaaaaaah! Make it stop! I can't catch up!
So, about the episode (and bear with me, I know it MUST have been discused in the 500 posts I haven't read since yesterday)
I saw the episode on Monday (friend with digital cable and an Atlantic Provinces feed. Yes Buffy AND Angel air on Monday there.) So, I had to try and stay away from the board for that day. Fell behind. Didn't come online for the posting party overnight and haven't been able to catch up since! AAAAArrrrrgh!
Okay, I feel (somewhat) better now.
I have thought, since the moment when Faith showed up on Angel and took over the hunt for Angelus, that she has the leadership qualities that Buffy lacks. I am actually quite smug now that she has taken over the leadership role for the SiT's. Faith isn't afraid to give orders. Faith asks for opinions when she isn't sure. Hmmmmm, since when is Faith the responsible one?
That said, I'm not certain whether this is feeding into Caleb and the First's evil plot, or whether it is cicumventing it. I think the Caleb/FE are expecting Buffy to be leading the group, and perhaps Faith's leadership will be the way to overcome the duo. The unexpected, as it were.
I can't wait for Spike's return. I wonder how he will interpret the message on the wall (*L* why is that sentence funny?)
So much to say, yet so much has already been said, so I'll leave it at this for now.
Oh, and welcome to all the newbies.
And there are no Invisible girls here (or invisible guys either) We just are often running WAY behind on our posts and don't have time to reply to them all.
Oh, and Nan, sorry about the mixup! I had to run off after sending the correct version of that e-mail and have yet to check my Yahoo!mail. (Firewall keeps Yahoo out at work, and I had to run off to figure skating last night.)
Okay then, must dash off to work now.

Quote marks in headers = not a good idea.
As you might note, Vlad's response to Lee is just an "Re:", because for some darn reason anything starting with a quote mark is ignored by ScoopMe in the headers. And dummies us, we forget that and send out messages that have nothing in the subject line except "re:". Not just Vlad -- I've done it too.
So, please refrain from using quote marks in the headers.
