And it's really, really touching. I actually teared up and I NEVER do that. Egads, I am losing in the PPBDS battle...it's happening.. I am becoming all wooshy and sentimental and...it's all YOUR fault. Vlad ps. That "YOUR" is applicable to whoever it makes feel guilty, 'cause you wouldn't feel guilty for NO reason, now would ya? Hey Patti, Diane, Rae, is there any more room in that hug? There's always room in a cyber hug.

Forgive me, I got up this morning and found EIGHT PAGES of posts to catch up on. I finally waded this far--but there' are still six to go and I have to work SOMETIME. I re-read 385 and I think you're spot-on. Buffy connected with each of them on a different level. Girlfriendy/professional with Willow; Us Slayers with Faith; Slayer/Watcher with Giles and Life Friends with Xander. I want so badly to do this in depth and simply have no time. My take on this ep is going to have to wait. I want to re-view before I review. Oh, about the 'shirty'... I've never heard this one before, but 'shirt-lifter' I have heard. It's not something Spike would call Buffy.

I get those spams all the time, too, Vlad. I guess those guys just can't get the idea that I don't want my penis enlarged. It's just fine the way it is.

Gail, I SO wanted to read your post. It sounded like it had lots of ideas in it. But it was hard to follow such a long post without any breaks in it. Please, please use paragraph breaks every so often. I got a headache now (whimpering, goes off in search of Tylenol.)

This time Hunter doesn't review so much a grieve. 'S okay. Me too. I'm doing "I don't see it, la, la, la" kind of denial thing, but I'm hurting a lot. Might be reflecting in all my hypersensitivity lately. My thanks to everyone who tried to cheer me up. I might have buried my feelings, but it didn’t stop a big, Texas-style “Yee-HA!” when that scythe sliced through Caleb. I’ve been reading the pages (and pages and pages )of posts and I’ve come to some conclusions. 1. Buffy kissed Angel. So what? She’s told Spike how important he is. She’s shared with him a night more intimate than sex. Spike may be jealous, but he’ll turn to the First and tell it to sod off. He’s his own man now. He has become what Buffy knew he would. He’s repaid her belief in full. 2. She won’t end up with either of them anyway (not a spoiler—obvious from the renewal of Angel and the addition of JM to the cast.) 3. Who has sex with whom; who HAD sex with whom or who WILL have sex with whom are now irrelevant. Last season a minor character asked the Scoobies if there wasn’t anyone at their table at the Bronze who hadn’t slept with anyone (prompting a meaningful exchange of glances between Spike and Xander.) Really, who cares? These people love and need each other. They’re now completely past physical intimacies as a standard of measuring love or intimacy. 4. If you asked either Angel or Spike independently, they would both say that they’d sacrifice themselves as long as Buffy gets what she needs and is happy. I remain a B/S shipper. But as much as Buffy loves both her vampires, and as much as they both love her, it really doesn’t matter any more.

Hunter did a nice job. I think he has nailed things pretty well. I am happy with things so far. I have such huge expectations for that finale though - by that, I don't mean anything specific, but just the general expectation that it will be great. I liked The Guardian. Didn't she say she was the last one? And now she's gone. And so is The Watcher's Council. The set-up is really for Buffy to come into her own, full adulthood, it seems to me. As sad as I was to hear it was over, it really is right to end BtVS. Seven seasons does feel just right, somehow.

Diane says: "I remain a B/S shipper. But as much as Buffy loves both her vampires, and as much as they both love her, it really doesn’t matter any more." Here, here! Well said. That's what made last week's arguing on the ep board over Spuffiness and B/A vs B/S so tiresome to me. Look at Andrew - he has figured out it's about more than the dramatic surface stuff he focused on in Storyteller.

// Look at Andrew - he has figured out it's about more than the dramatic surface stuff he focused on in Storyteller. // Too true... I'm over my "Buffy kissed Angel" fit from last night. This is mostly because I still want Buffy to choose herself but, Diane is right, it doesn't matter at this point. However, I do have fun imagining that Andrew, in his video chronicles of 'Buffy the VamPYRE Slayer', actually has the romance novel induced scene with Buffy, Spike, and ANGEL together entangled between the sheets on a large bed... After all, Andrew would only want EVERYONE to be happy right? Rae Hanson

Like most people I am not happy that Ellie has left the board. Whilst it is true that everyone is feeling stressed and depressed about the season ending which is making everyone a little thin-skinned, it is also true that Ellie is the only one to storm off. Why did she go and not others? Ellie suggests in her last post that the S'Cubie board is not equal. From my own observation I can see that it is not a united board, even though it does try to be friendly to everyone. I have a couple of hypotheses about why some people feel less equal than others. First, the fact remains that there is definitely a hierarchy of "newbies" and "oldbies" which is just the natural order of things. However, for me, this distinction becomes important when so many new and old posters are talking about the SITs, especially Kennedy, and how newbies should know their place. The implication is obvious: new "S'Cubies" should know their place and keep quiet, not rock the boat and not make mistakes if they want to be accepted. Second, there is a distinction between casual posters and prolific posters. It may appear that the prolific posters may get more posisitve attention and a looser reign than the less prolific posters. I suspect that this can be intimidating to the casual poster, especially if the casual poster is a little bit shy. However, I also suspect that some of the more prolific posters reply to posts as they read them, which is not always obvious to the casual poster who reads all the posts and then if their point is still pertinant chooses to post. Thus, for Ellie, some people may have complained about her spoiler post (which she could not change, as far as she knew) before reading her explanation/apology, which most people did not seem to acknowledge. It is possible that Ellie then concluded that people had not accepted her apology/explanation. Obviously, when we have the new "S'cubie" message board this problem will be avoided by the Edit/Delete function, but until then perhaps a little bit of discretion is required when people make mistakes. I know people are not going to like what I have to say and some, perhaps, will think that I am getting above myself or that I am picking on indivduals, but I really do not like the fact that Ellie has left. I am worried about the reasons for it. I have no special knowledge of Ellie and her specific complaints regarding inequality on this board, but if the S'Cubies are serious about wanting to increase their numbers, maybe some soul-searching about why Ellie left is in order. I will also say, up-front, that I will be offended if people trivialise my concerns (which is different from disagreeing with me). To me Ellie's leaving suggests an underlying problem with this board.

Like I said, random email address generator - There was a lovely article in the LA Times last Sunday, complete with the date of the first spamming, 3 May 1978, if anyone's interested. We're thinking of throwing a spam party next year, or at least putting it on the calendar (we make a gag one up for friends). I don't even open email anymore unless I know who sent it, after one of them turned out to be porn, complete with photos. Our computer is in the living room, and the kids were home at the time. I was rather entranced by the one titled "Turn your penis into a monster". though - rather Buffy or X-files, I thought. Sorry, early morning, and a dreadfully commonplace mind... Then there's the junk calls. The ones I hate are the telemarketers that say (man-to-man voice) "Hey, is Paul there?". At 10 AM when he's at work. Also the ones that start out "Mrs Davis, this is about your daughter Emily", and then try to sell me portraits. That one took a couple years off my life, I can tell you. Also the ones where you pick up the phone and it's just dead air, or you can hear people talking way far away - those are the random dialer again; they can dial four numbers at once... Sorry, better now. Here endeth the rant. Anyway, the world obviously needs a Chosen Spam Slayer, one geek to stand against the junk emailers and the Forces of Darkness. I'm glad it isn't me. Talk about impossible missions. Anne D

I could have sworn that Anya's line to Andrew was "I could use a QUICKIE". What a dreadfully commonplace mind I must have. Tee hee. This episode was full of good lines - Too many to choose just one!
