Just remembered a favorite Spike line from last night - During the (wonderful! Outstanding!) scene with Buffy, Spike mentions the Holy Hand Grenade. That's two Monty Python references, after last week's comfy chair.

I'm pretty new here, and with my first (actually second)post, I stepped on toes big time with my Xander rant. As soon as I looked the board over a little more carefully, I knew it was inappropriate - or at least unwelcome - here. People told me, kindly, that I was way too harsh (tho no one addressed anything I actually said), I apologised to Rob, and let it go, hoping I hadn't ostracized myself right off the bat.
I don't post a lot, mostly because I don't have much free time. Some of my posts have generated discussion, most have not - but I figure that's the nature of my posts. Obviously some didn't arouse interest. (I do wish someone could tell me if the word 'soulmate' has ever been used on air in describing Buffy & Angel's relationship, though, and in what ep, if anyone knows.) Not every post generates interest, which is the nature of ALL posting boards.
There was one point where I got just a tad annoyed. I asked a question about Blood & Fog, about the other Buffy novels. This discussion went on for awhile, but most of the posts had names in the title, and none were mine - the person who had asked the initial question. I certainly could have jumped back in, but I didn't. THAT time, I did feel a bit ignored, overlooked, whatever, but, on the other hand, I didn't step back in and say "Hey! Remember me? I asked the question!" either, did I? So sometimes it's the newbie and not the old timers...
Every board is different. I enjoy the discussions here, and like to listen in even when I don't post. It's a completely different atmosphere from the only other board I visit, and from my post Buffy chat group. Different ideas are expounded upon in/at each place, and all make my enjoyment of the Buffyverse greater.

Finally caught up. Am now 2.5 hours behind in my work but I'm caught up (at this moment).
Preview For Finale: Since we have previously established that previews for the next episode aired after a just completed episode are NOT considered Spoilers I am speaking up on something that perplexed me in the last shot or two of the preview. The footage flew by so fast that even repeated viewings in slow motion and frame by frame were insufficient to settle this question. In the last few frames of the preview Buffy is shown killing someone with the scythe. Okay, it was probably an Uber Vamp but....okay, don't anyone jump all over me for this paranoid suggestion but it also looked as if it might have been...him. You know, those Uber Vamps are all bald (light head) and sheathed in black leather and with the high speed footage consisting of only a few frames it really looked to me as if it was a possibility. Especially when I remembered what Spike said to Buffy after he first saw the scythe: " Pointy and wooden is not exactly the look I'd like to know better but it does have flair." Foreshadowing? Those of you who recorded the episode, please review that footage and post your impression.
Also Re Preview: White Willow! Looks as if Willow will go for the powerful mojo after all (we knew she would) but she will be drawing power from the side of good rather than TFE. I'm actually surprised they leaked that in the preview. Interesting as in the episode when she was talking with Giles about her fears about using powerful majiks again she specifically brought up going all black eyed/haired and veiny and then the preview showed her at the other end of the spectrum.
Re amulet Spike is shown wearing in preview- will someone please explain where it came from to one who was too busy trying to catch up on this board last week to remember to watch the Angel finale? (Duh, me)
I think Buffy & Spike have run out of time for one last sexual interlude. Next week appears to be taken up with the War. Their closeness and Buffy's acceptance of Spike's love for her and his faith in her may be all we get. When Spike asked her "Were you there with me" and she said "I was" (at work, probably misquoting) and then he asked her "What does that mean?" and she replied that she didn't know and asked if it mattered I was disappointed at the cop-out. (But I loved his exit line "Let's go be heroes.")
So many people questioned the meaning of "shirty". The Londoner I used to live would frequently tell me not to go getting shirty so I understood that one. What I didn't get was the "carrot-top" reference. Spike calls Buffy a carrot-top after she calls him a bone-head. Someone please explain.
What Entertainment Weekly issue had the interview with JW saying JM owns finale? Is it available anywhere online? Is it still out in the stores?
Gail in #455 Pt 27 said she couldn't wait to see Angel's reaction to souled Spike. I for one hope we get to see it and that it isn't ignored or implied as having occurred off-screen as have so many other revelations this season that we were deprived of witnessing in favor of watching new characters that we care F**k-All about (sorry if that was too strong for some).
I too was confused about whether or not Buffy could see/hear FE Buffy talking to Caleb after she retrieved the scythe. Apologies to the one who suggested the possibility that it is possession of the scythe that revealed TF's otherwise hidden presence; I forgot to note your name. Interesting theory.
Mary, #489. Ditto every word you said.
Re: SMG's Spoiler (or not, depending on your perspective)- Well I have to agree with Nan in that I can't see how I can take it otherwise than as a conclusion based on her knowledge of the ending. Yes, she has made it obvious on numerous occasions that she is a dedicated B/A shipper. But if Buffy does admit she's in love with Spike before the end than how could she refute canon and claim otherwise? After all, she is in a position to know.
That said I was somewhat heartened to read Spring's take on this in which she denies any more credibility to SMG's opinion than any other B/A shipper. It made me feel better about a few things I heard JM say about Spike in the Q&A at the Chicago convention last weekend.
Lots of other stuff folks have said I agreed with so I'll not repeat. Must at least try to get some work done now. Oooh, still need to read Hunter's review and Tiramisu's review.

Guys, Quick reminder that A&E is running a "Buffy Biography" tonight at 7pm CST. It's a two hour retrospective with new interviews with JW, SMG, DB and other cast members. Can't guarantee if there will be any spoilers. I highly doubt it but you never know. Anyway, just wanted to throw that little reminder out here for everyone. -Lee Hollins

Hi, Mary.
I'm not certain I understand the point of your note, so if I'm wrong, please forgive me.
In only a few months this board has grown from a handful of people who wanted to talk about Spike away from the episode board and it's notoriously anti-Spike bent. Now it's quite large and growing. I don't have much time either, and what little I have is spent rushing through posts.
We do get excited about matters Buffy. We get even more excited about matters Spike. Newcomers are sometimes overlooked, either because they're bringing up something we chewed to death 3,000 posts ago or because they just got lost in the crush. Nobody's excluded or ostracized. (Well, maybe ONE person would be, but he doesn't post here...)
I'm NOT a newbie, and still get my feathers ruffled from time to time (check out part 27, if you doubt me) but if you feel you're not being treated fairly, you have only to say so. Response is immediate.
At any rate, I'm glad you're here. Post often. That's the best way to generate response.

I thought, if anyone, you guys would get a kick out of this. I was just on the phone with my roommate long distance (she's been out of town a few days), updating her on happenings. We're moving to a new house on June 1, I'm in a new-ish job and still getting up to speed, and I'm also having problems with the boyfriend (of the serious, possible break-up variety). And I was kvetching to her about the boyfriend, and summed it all up like this.
"I don't have time for this crap right now. We're moving, Buffy's ending, and I have like eight deadlines for work coming up..."
Needless to say, my roommate cracked up at that statement and the inclusion of "Buffy's ending".

On the SMG "spoiler" - I think it is hard to decide anything based on SMG's opinion. I mean, Buffy could say to Spike: "Darling, I'm madly in love with you, you're my one and only true love, and no-one/nothing will ever compare to you" and there would still be B/A shippers who would find a way to discount it as Buffy trying to say what Spike is needing to hear before a fight, or whatever.
NOT that Joss will be that obvious with any dialogue, for Spike or Angel. I think it is all going to be vague enough to allow B/A shippers to easily believe Angel will always be #1 to Buffy, and B/S shippers to believe she loves Spike best.
That's just a guess, based on the idea that "who does Buffy love best/who is her true love" is not an important question to Joss, so he'll let everyone do their own thing.

OK, just kidding about the whole "it's a two-hour bonaza of Buffy!" Dadgum, it's only ONE hour, not TWO! Still starts at 7pm CST, still on A&E, but it's not two hours, it's just an hour. Apparently I can't tell the difference between a 1 and a 2. Sorry for any confusion and hopes I might have dashed. -Lee Hollins

I guess the whole point was that both newbies and oldbies can step on toes without meaning to - that we should all try to take care, AND we should all try to not be overly sensative. Pretty standard stuff.
I'm glad to be here, too.

While I am not a founding member I am certainly one of the original joiners to this board. In the early days it seemed as if almost every post garnered a response from some if not most other posters. We have grown far too big for that to be a realistic expectation any longer.
Up until very recently I have been meticulous about reading every post. That is what keeping up with this board which has become such an important part of my life and my day to day happiness demanded of me. This board is my bridge to others who share my great interest and passion with BtVS, its world and characters (first and foremost being Spike of course). You are the ones I can talk to about a subject that those dear to me in RL cannot relate to or understand. However due to our welcome growth I know that it is no longer possible for me to read every post or respond to every post that strikes a personal cord with me. With my only computer access being at work, the demands of my job and RL there just aren't enough hours in the day.
That doesn't mean I don't value everyone who contributes in good will to the discussion on this board. I try but am not always able to believe that this is the attitude of others to myself when I feel slighted or ignored as I have in the past.
Nan says we should all grow thick skins. Well, my skin has always been on the thin and sensative side. The best I've been able to do is to speak up, either on the board or privately through Email, when I have been depressed about any lack of response to my contributions or a percieved deliberate slight. From time to time folks have stressed how important it is that we ask for clarification before presuming a negative interpretation about something said on the board that could be construed as hurtful or offensive. I am glad I followed this advise. Otherwise there was at least one time that I may have left myself. I even remember composing the Email I was considering sending to Vlad requesting he quietly remove my profile from the website as I was leaving the board and wished to do so without fuss.
Ellie, you are a valued member of this posting community as well as someone I have come to consider a friend. I beseech you to reconsider your departure and return to the fold.
As for responding to a post before reading all the posts, the consesus seems to be that this is not a problem here. But I find that qualifying my response with some sort of a statement apologizing in advance if what I say been already addressed or resolved, etc..protects me from regretting my haste if that proves to be the case once I've read further.

That would be me - it was just in the stores when I went grocery shopping yesterday -it's the current issue, with The Matrix cover (no sense of priority, those folks!).
Unless there's a run on EW, it should be available through the weekend.
