AND you get to dress up like Mistress Spanks-a-Lot! I wonder how that would work with a ballcap and the toe-shoes . . . Sounds like a PR challenge to me...

MATTHEW!Thank you for putting me onto strap wrenches - I bought a couple at Sears today, and managed to open a jar of beets without, for the first time ever, spattering myself. I initially read that as "strap wenches," which sent my brain to an entirely different place...

From the comments: "This sounds great, worried about the "supergeeks" though. Wish one of the 3 was a normal fan." Define "normal;" define "normal fan;" define "normal fan who attends ComicCon." Besides, I don't think the point of the doc is to follow "normal" fans -- it's about the supergeeks." Exactly. Though I can see why fans would be a bit skittish about being portrayed as wild-eyed crazies. I'm hoping Joss will make sure that it shows a good balance. This really sounds like fun. I'm not worried. Morgan Spurlock is pretty good at showing people's essential humanity and emphasizing the things that connect us all.

OMG, people on Twitter are cracking my shit up today. First off, I learned that Robert Pattinson hates and is allergic to vaginas (I saw it on the internets so it must be truefax and not taken out of context! Most awkward outing ever! ;D ), and now the latest from Simon Pegg (earlier he had accidentally twitted stuff that he meant to message privately and people ragged him about it): simonpegg: Hey babe, just DMing you to let you know that I'm wearing your underwear and I killed next door's cat with a pencil. Keep it under your hat. And then of course Misha twitted earlier and it was adorable and sneaky and I<3HIMSFM. Simon Pegg cracks my shit up!! Haven't seen Misha's tweet yet, must go look it up.

I discovered that the shoes were available through REI, even though they weren't through the website or the store in Knoxville (go figure). But the important thing is that they're on their way. Yay! *sigh* REI I miss the Co-op, and running into Jim Whittaker in the map section. Julia, like Starbucks and Nordies, used to be just a really good local company for me

After assembling the new bookcase, I've spent a whole lot of the past two days dusting books and shelving them in rough author order, to be sorted by date and series after I'm no longer falling over piles of things.
Still haven't found the glass shelves, though, which is annoying.

So, is anyone else watching "Faces of America" on PBS? It's a very interesting documentary series done by Henry Louis Gates, Jr. In this one, he's taking various famous people and then tracking their family history and their immigration to this country. I seem remember a few years ago watching another show he did like this, with all African Americans, if I recall correctly . . . Anyway. It's really fascinating - well, I suppose fascinating if you are interested in history.
