Doing the pop in. Had a great, great show last night. We had a bad dress rehearsal where I had to put on my evil hat and yell at some kids who didn't know their lines so it worked!s They were all great last night. Plus they surprised me with a Best Director award, flowers, etc and did it all like Oscar night with the nominees for Best Director in a Theatrical production are . . . . . . Awwww, love my teen cast. Anyway, Saturday night dateage was fun but no fireworks. The restaurant was great though and I had a fun dinner. Next guy is tomorrow for lunch. AND GLEE TONIGHT! Congrats, Pixi! That sounds great. So glad you are taking some "me" time, also. Good luck with the lunch tomorrow. Any guy would be very lucky to snag a prize such as yourself! I've taken some time off work to work on the house. Mostly, it involves cleaning up the two rooms upstairs, which were my son's domain. So it's quite the experience, cleaning and going through his stuff. But I'm getting through it. I'm glad you're taking some time off to do this. That sounds like the kind of task you wouldn't want to fit in between going to your "real" job.

This is soooo cooooool!!!!! Christina Hendricks Voted Best-Looking WomanWell, duh....we kinda knew that first. Too bad they didn't post her 'real' look in the magazine. I wonder why they changed her so much from the look that got her all the votes? She is a babe. I didn't know that Vincent Kartheiser introduced her to her now-husband! Coolio.

Too bad they used someone else on the cover Julia, tired, also tired, and answering a handful of comments yesterday evening felt like heavy lifting. Oh, but that IS her! Crazy! Forgot my sarcasm tags, sorry.

Thanks Spring. And huggles. I'm sure the going through things isn't easy. I find this whole dating thing kind of hard work though. Too bad we can't just order up datebots. I'd take a Misha model. Why isn't cybernetics on this? Agree on the "dating is hard work." A friend of mine, who was going through a period where she was dating anyone who could put at least one leg of his pants on, claimed that her indiscriminate dating -which took much effort for what seemed like zilch reward - was OK, because it "was fun." I guess she found it fun. Me, dating is a necessary evil - like taking some foul medicine, so you can get better. And yes!! We need better cybernetics. I mean, sex with robots is more common than most people think. *nods sagely*And the good thing about robots is that when you're done with them you can turn them off and put them away in a closet someplace. And if you can afford it you can even have lots of different robots for different days or moods--or parties. Diane *ready to order a Spikebot and an Ericbot right now*

More like "oh god, oh god, why does the boss always come up with labor-intensive ideas with only a week in which to make them a reality?" Ack! I'm sorry, I hate that kind of thing too. It's so common I've come to think that they study it in Boss' School. Usually it comes in conjunction with the huge task that HAS to be completed before you leave for the day--five minutes from now.

But I wouldn't say zilch reward to date a lot of men....call it 'practice' and figuring out what you want and need from a guy (besides teh sex, that is ) From I witnessed, I was being generous, saying "zilch" reward. It was more like negative numbers.

Oh sure, it's not enough that I have to lay out the auction catalog (an expected and necessary task)—now I also have to lay out the ad someone else wants to place in it? Sure, why not? I love doing someone else's work in addition to my own.

Last-minute panic is definitely setting in. Which I actually do understand this time around; this is one of our main fund-raising events for the year, and for a while there reservations were coming in very slowly. So I totally get the need to do everything possible to maximize our chances for success. Thankfully, it ended up being an easy task—it's essentially a real estate listing, so I just had to plug in the text and pics. Very straightforward—my favorite kind of job.

So. I spent the weekend in Seattle. Took Emily to her first Mariners game (on Kids' day, no less, by complete accident). She got a Felix Hernandez jersey that will fit her when she's about four years old...a certificate with her name on it, the date, and who the M's were playing on her first game day...and she LOVED the wave. Apparently, however, my MIL thinks I'm starving her. Anyone wanna hear her "reasoning"? I knew you would. 1) She's SO much smaller than Amilio. 2) She cries sometimes. 3) I won't let Grandma give her a bottle of formula. 4) She only nurses for three or five minutes at a time. Okay, where to start? 1) Amilio is three and a half months older than her, AND a boy. She's as tall as he is, and, in terms of percentiles, is BIGGER than he is for her age. She's 75th for height and 40th for weight; he's 50th/30th. 2) Babies cry for reasons other than hunger, and she's allowed to eat whenever and as much as she wants, PLUS she gets 2-3 meals of solid food a day and whatever table foods she can manage when we eat. And I know what her "hungry" cry sounds like, thankyouverymuch. 3) I was away from her for two days, during which time she got nothing but bottles. When I got back, she was a bit lazy, so I resolved "no bottles" until daycare on Tuesday, so she'd learn to be patient at the breast again. I did not bring my pump to Seattle, and you will NOT give my baby a bottle of formula while I'm sitting right there, boobs and all. 4) Three to five minutes is fairly typical at her age, when distractions are a huge thing. Also, I get four ounces with the pump in three minutes, including lots of yummy hindmilk, and I have to figure she's at least as good as a pump for extracting milk. Oh, and: 5) Her doctor thinks she's perfect. Apparently it wasn't enough to harangue me all weekend in person; she called Dave last night (all of twelve hours after she last saw us) to tell him I wasn't feeding the baby enough. And now Dave is irritated with me because I called his mother "stupid". Okay, technically, I asked IF she's stupid. Because of the whole "direct comparison with a baby half again as old".

Would you like a Tardis and some no doz? Julia, creative-ish but my gawd, have these people no sense of time? Last-minute panic is definitely setting in. Which I actually do understand this time around; this is one of our main fund-raising events for the year, and for a while there reservations were coming in very slowly. So I totally get the need to do everything possible to maximize our chances for success. Thankfully, it ended up being an easy task—it's essentially a real estate listing, so I just had to plug in the text and pics. Very straightforward—my favorite kind of job. Well done! It was all beginning to sound very Dilbert, though. I have (in addition to the usual weekday routine, and not strangling the Elder Daughter): Painted one side of my little papier-mâché three-panel screen. Black, if anyone is interested. When it's all painted, I have some Japanese art print images I cut out of an old datebook to decoupage onto the panels, and gold and silver joss paper to tear up and use for embellishment. Walked to the shopping center to pick up the pictures from my dad's last roll of film, which Emily finished up over the weekend. He snuck up into the burn area last fall and photographed the damage from the Station Fire, so it should be interesting. Also looks like he got a couple cute pictures of Frisky. Drove to the La Habra library, Trader Joe's, where I called home and checked the answering machine for messages, and the vet because they'd called to tell me that the cats' food was in. So that worked out. Now I need to finish putting away groceries, eat lunch, and get back to painting. And also hope my mom doesn't get bored and call me. I sit by the phone, Monday through Friday from 3:50PM on, because if I don't pick up by the second ring she gets all worried. I can't plan anything else from 3:50 to 4:30 because she expects me to be home and waiting for her to call, and lately she's been calling randomly (and on weekends too) every time she's bored and expecting me to be here to pick up no matter what time it is. I'm about to have a nervous breakdown, because I already expect the worst every time the phone rings, and it's just getting worse. I'm going to have to talk to her about not calling unless it's a real emergency, and why can't she call Ratbag instead. She'll be hurt, I'll feel guilty, and.. basically, I can't win. It's never going to be enough. Gah. Wish me luck. ETA: Also I vacuumed the livingroom and the hall outside the girls' bedrooms, much to the disgust of the tortie. Don't want to forget the vacuuming. I managed to suck up a toy mouse, but since it seems to have got all the way to the bag without blocking anything, I'm just going to pretend it didn't happen. The cats have lots of toy mice; they won't miss this one. Shutting up now.

Quick question: did you ask the MiLFH herself if she's stupid, or did you ask Dave if she's stupid? And if it was him, are you sure he's not actually irritated because you asked him a rhetorical question? I'm sorry her behavior put a damper on what sounds like an amazing first baseball game experience with Emily, though. But I'm glad you'll have some great mementos to remember the day by.
