so tired... at least my mom didn't wish i could come more often, and we got a lot of stuff sorted for her, bestest buddy and i. unfortunately, the elder daughter discovered a cat-peed cushion in the attic library, by kneeling on it. good thing i'd given my parents a bottle of nature's miracle a while back, which we applied both to the cushion and ed's knee. i'm washing the pants right now, after copious applications of nm. i won't have to wash them more than once. anne, lower case tired

Hey ho, s'cubies! Fun weekend, alternating laziness with actual, you know stuff.
Good concert on Saturday night at the Orchestra. Stanislaw Skrowaczewski was conducting and, as often is true when he conducts, they did one of his compositions. But this time it was a re-working of a piece from 1996 - Passacalia immaginaria, with "New Version 2010" added to the title. He tightened up the whole piece, put more emphasis on the main theme.
The concert opened with Beethoven's second Leonore Overture (loved the performance by the horn section and solo trumpet) and ended with Brahms Symphony number 1. Lovely journey from anguish to joy in that piece!
But now I roam the interwebtubes tonight, seeking entertainment! **shakes internet, hoping to shake funtimes out**
What's the what with all of y'all tonight?

And now to share something awesome with you all: my friends John and April are two of the most wonderful sweet people you could hope to meet. I've known John since around 1985, when he was an airman fresh-stationed to Eglin and joined our local Star Trek club, and known April since she grumpily changed a class for me at the local college in 1993: they fit together like a hand and glove, and are amazing. Well, John and I share a love for all things Bloom County (and most things Heinlein: he and April gave me volume one of the new biography for my birthday, but that's a tangent) and he told me about this project and has shown me the pieces as he's worked on them for the last five or six years: The Banana Jr 9000That's him in the last picture. I've almost got him convinced to dye his hair red and shave his beard to go to the convention next year as Carrot Ironfounderson, and I've nearly got April convinced to go as Angua. This is so I'll have company when I'm dressed as the Dean with "Born to Rune" bedazzled onto my back. -Matthew, mad Discworld convert who still needs to get ahold of a copy of "I shall wear midnight" OMG, this is awesome!! **has fond Bloom County flashbacks, once again feels sad that I did not get to see Berkeley Breathed at SDCC** I love the part where "he customized the OS to display the Banana logo and run BananOS version 10.5.8"! ;D

And now for something completely different: On Thursday, on my walk to the market, I spotted a dead dragonfly on the sidewalk. Being a complete weirdo, I turned around, walked home and returned with Emily and her camera. I thought the raindrops on its wings were particularly lovely. Very lovely! In fact that first picture almost looks like a piece of jewelry!

I have achieved a tidy house. Two weeks of couch time has resulted in a chaotic mess centered mostly in my computer/tv/eating/etc. area. The granddaughter is coming over tomorrow so I used it as a reason to do a serious house-tidy. Why is the granddaughter coming over? Because she needs something, of course. In this instance she needs a Halloween costume. No Willow-class-ghost for her, though. It's all anime costume-y and in need of tailoring. That means ask for grandma's sewing skills. Just days before Halloween. *sigh* Cool costume idea! But, yeah. Ouch on the timing!

It doesn't matter where in the world you move. You'll never be more than a few clicks away from your S'cubies. Yep. Except Michigan will now be a bit emptier and sadder without you. Seriously, I wish you all the best in your move and admire your courage for embarking on a whole new adventure in life. Indeed! All best to Michelle and her exciting new job!

So I'm Farscape (in order this time) in an ongoing quest to keep my sanity. And I find myself wondering what the general consensus is on whether to watch them in airing order or production order. Farscape!! So much love. Season 2? Golden!

There is no such thing as sufficient sleep.
Pounding down rain again, so I can't actually hear the TV, and otherwise going through MAJOR Mad Men withdrawal.
Julia, so not into the idea of the new Zombie thingie on AMC

Appraiser just left. It seems to be a good thing that we don't want any extra cash back, just a lower rate on our existing balance, as it keeps us under some sort of mystical 200K ceiling. Good vibes will be appreciated for a while... It's been raining on and off, and there was a clap of thunder. Cats are nowhere to be found, but since they were both inside at the time, I assume they are under beds or other furniture. Laundry is almost done, and I got another bookbinding kit finished, two little traditional stitched books. Maybe tomorrow I'll tackle the larger hardbound journal kit. Time for lunch, before I either fall over from hunger or start eating junk food. Bzuhwhuh? I know I'm being perhaps importunately nosy here, but what you're asking for (line of credit, refinancing mortgage, etc.) should have no impact, positive or negative, on the appraised value of a house. I'm wondering what he was talking about with a $200,000 limit... unless he'd maybe done a comp search ahead of time and come in with a ballpark figure around there for homes of your type in your neighborhood. Matthew, slightly puzzled office manager to an unruly mob of residential appraisers. -and who also waves "hello!" frantically after being missingish for a week and a half. Matthew!!!!!!!!! Miss you!
