I have achieved a tidy house. Two weeks of couch time has resulted in a chaotic mess centered mostly in my computer/tv/eating/etc. area. The granddaughter is coming over tomorrow so I used it as a reason to do a serious house-tidy. Why is the granddaughter coming over? Because she needs something, of course. In this instance she needs a Halloween costume. No Willow-class-ghost for her, though. It's all anime costume-y and in need of tailoring. That means ask for grandma's sewing skills. Just days before Halloween. *sigh* Cool costume idea! But, yeah. Ouch on the timing! The visit with the granddaughter went much better than I hoped even thought I went and got all sicky. However, I set her up to pin and cut out the pieces for me while I tried to rest. I felt better after we went to lunch and we got the body of the jacket fitted to her. I will put the trim on tomorrow and if possible line it somewhat. The skirt shouldn't take more than a couple of hours. I did take measurements so it shouldn't be too hard. I wish I had more time to do this properly, but she'll have to do with what I have the time/strength to manage. I'm not due back to work until Thursday and there's a chance I'll even feel up to it. I hope. Might even make it to Faire. Hugs to everyone.

So, I've watched the new Moffat Sherlock, and saw that it aired on PBS tonight.
I wouldn't mind discussing it. Anyone object to a thread for it in "ILLLTV"?

Rain, we has it. Since around 10PM last night and still ongoing, or downcoming, or whatever. Unfortunately, work and school and grocery shopping, we also has it. So there will be worrying about Husband's commute, and if the rain continues into the morning, round-trip driving to various locations in Fullerton, twice. Not to mention Trader Joe's. Maybe I can combine drives if the timing works. But still and all, rain. Which is good, because starting Tuesday and continuing through Thursday, Santa Ana winds are predicted. *Hugs S'cubies and leaves piles of brackets on coffee table for later*

I watched last night too. I'm up for a bit of a discussion. Yeah, me too. It surprised me. Two cents: Did not see it - but some unasked for advice from me: If you wanna get a discussion started, put some juicy meat on the bones - i.e., include a brief opinion that contains the most radical thought you had on it. You might even get discussion from those who haven't seen it, plus build up some curiousity for others to maybe watch it next time. (Can you tell I've been combing The Old Parts Home?) Also . ETA: Oh, I missed where you were talking about setting up a special thread. You are going to make me drag my sorry ass over to a special thread? OK. Fine then.

Today in S'cubie History:Please hop aboard Spring's Time Machine . . .
and be transported to . . . Oct 25, 2003 On Oct 25, 2003, Sue writesWhat do you say? Is it too late to hold her to it? I'd love to see an Index for our Archives! Go to it, Sue!Spike's Pants! I love that we sprung from Spike Pants. I didn't go look to see if this discussion got preserved or not. I do remember that we discussed Spike's leather pants in an S7 scene, because someone was wondering where Spike would have gotten them. And our discussion got kicked off the board. Soon after, we made a special discussion thread, and here we are. And Alexandra! Josh! Ellie! Athene! Wonder where they are. I actually heard from Josh, in the IMs, maybe . . . a year and a half ago, or so. He wrote that he'd been through some difficult times but wanted to get back to participating and such. I responded with a welcome, but never heard from him again.

Yes, today is the day. *hugs and good vibes to Shan* Anne - have you heard anything yet from your doctor? Sorry if you posted and I missed it. Good morning, S'cubies! 'Sprung from Spike's pants'......a very nice memory! Although I wasn't involved in the actual kefuffle at the time it happened, I happened to be reading some of the posts made on the Scoop Me Board, and posted a few posts at that time and was invited to the S3 by Spring. Thank, babe. I am forever in your debt.

Thank, babe. I am forever in your debt. Nothing from the doctor, but she said it'd be at least a week before the biopsy results come back. My neck is less sore, but still bruised. Mostly I'm trying not to think about it. You know, if I was going to get my neck mangled, it's too bad it couldn't be a cute British vampire instead.

Just days before Halloween. *sigh* That's a whole lot of construction, there, not to mention the braiding... Julia, sufficient to give me the willies, that. From scratch, or "just" alterations. [Sewing is a dying art, truly. My mother made a ton of our dresses (Easter, prom, bridesmaid, etc), suits, all of our curtains, dozens and dozens (3 sets) of doll clothes for Shirley Temple dolls and later even some Barbie clothes for my youngest sister, lined coats. I, of course, took sewing in high school Home Ec and made a number of "granny" dresses in the 70's. Nearly all of the curtains in 3 different houses. We purchases a sewing machine as one of those "essential" appliances like a refrigerator or oven (ahead of a TV or microwave, when they were invented). Being bright kids I guess all 3 of them could figure out how to sew on a button, but not much beyond that. Fortunately, the need to hem everything to within 1/2" of whatever current fashion/fad dictates is the "right" hem length as gone the way of girdles and beehives. Not just for dresses and skirts but even pants -- they can be worn any length from below the knee to 3 inches too long and either rolled up or dragging. And when it's absolutely necessary I know Carolyn just takes things to an alter-er (tailor?) Neither of them will ever own a sewing machine and the P(H)FDIL (Potential (Hopefully) Future DIL) is even more career oriented, less 50's housewifely. So, yay for grandmothers who can still sew!
