I walked to the market in the lovely drizzle (seriously, I like this weather), and home again with two heavy bags (cans will do that). I still have the TJs shopping to do, but after that, I'm hoping to start on the Winter Solstice presents for my cousin and her husband, the usual Japanese journals. The way things have been going, the sooner I get those finished, the better. I induced the Younger Daughter to change her bed, and put her in charge of washing the basket of bed linens. I should change our bed, but it's currently occupied by a Large Fluffy Object.

I AM SO SICK. I've had this cold for a week and I can't get rid of it. I was in bed all day yesterday with fever. I feel so not good. Stupid travel.

Went out to the Arboretum again yesterday with my sis and we finally scattered some of mom and dad's ashes under the trees we have dedicated to them out there. We wandered in the woodsy area just off of the Hosta glad for a bit and then took a stroll thru the bog walk. Hadn't visited the bog in a while and it was lovely! Lots of pretty color still and gorgeous weather! Here's a few pics:

Ouch. First MOnnie's team, and now Spring's. Who will be #1 in college FB next week? Oregon, maybe. So after winning a game 52-3 (or 6?) today VU lost 43-0. Also OUCH. Jim watching the Phillies. Ah, no worries; I love my Buckeyes rain or shine, and no ouchies here. The Buckeyes are having a good year, the Badgers are always formidable opponents, and The Big Ten looks really great. Who wants perfect? It's much more fun when you've got real competition. THE BEST NEWS: My dream of a post-season Bama-OSU game is still alive! If MSU stays perfect in the Big Ten, they will go to the Rose Bowl (assuming they don't go to the NC). If OSU and Bama keep good records, say . . . 1 loss or 2 . . . maybe they will get invited to one of the other BCS bowls together? And Monnie and I can still go to the game, where I can still console her by buying her a consolation Appletini after the game. Shine on, you crazy dreamer, shine on! **raises a glass of imaginary Appletini to you, madam**

Lola -
Gorgeous pictures.
We have such talented S'cubies what with the photo taking and the craft making and the Project Runway, etc.
Monnie -- so what was up with New Orleans? -- just decided to extend the vacation? So sorry you got sick -- easy to do with lots of airplane flights and crowds.

Today I unearthed part of my den. But I really can't put a lot of stuff away until the issues with the kitchen and laundry room floors are resolved. Grr, argh. So that impacts a number of rooms. Then we also decided to try the experiment of switching the living room and dining room. Not sure if it will be a permanent arrangement but it makes me not want to reload the bookcases and china closet in case we want to move everything back. But, yikes!, I really need to put stuff back so we can lively normally. On the other hand, what passes for "normal" around here is Jim at a business dinner tomorrow, out of town T/W, at a church function Thursday, Allie off to NU homecoming for the weekend. (Her car has no heat, mine has no AC. ) Oh, and the garage door broke beyond repair so add 2 new garage doors and a leaky water heater to the upgrading that is going on. Just as we get it ALL (or as close to all) done I know the 22+ year old furnace will die and then we will cycle back to replacing the roof, which was one of the first things we did when we bought the house. I think my kids are thinking that renting might not be such a bad idea.
