Spring: becca: Interesting, I didn't know that Blake hand-colored all his poems (or if I did, I'd forgotten). I have a copy of Songs sitting in my to-read pile right now. One of these days... The Lamb from Songs of Innocence and The Tyger from Songs of Experience www.blakearchive.org/ collects all the different versions and you can see them all side by side. AAAANd you are again, way ahead of me.

Visited my mom. Not as bad as I expected. On the other hand, if she doesn't call the credit union and get some money transferred to her bank checking account THIS WEEK, she risks bouncing checks within the next few weeks. Knowing my mom, on Monday afternoon she'll ask me to call the credit union and ask them what she has to ask for, then expect me to call her back and tell her what to do, then keep putting it off... She's already done that. I told her that they probably wouldn't even talk to me, and if she expects me to do things like that I need power of attorney and full control over her finances, because nobody's going to talk to somebody whose name isn't on the account. Today I told her what to say, again, and I wrote it down for her, and I even calculated sort of what I thought the appropriate amount for the next year was, based on her income and expenses over the last nine months, averaged and multiplied by twelve. She's got about another year after that before she runs out of money. Unfortunately, with her massive physical limitations, a nursing home is completely unaffordable, so I don't know what we'll do in two years when she's broke. She can't live with us, there's no room, and I am not moving back up there again, not even for a few days. Ratbag at one point said mom could move in with them, but Useless doesn't seem too thrilled, and I suspect it was just one of those ploys to make Ratbag look good without any effort, anyway. My head hurts, my stomach hurts, and I just don't know what to do.

I got some bulbs planted (and impinging rose bits pruned), some grocery shopping done, refilled the suet box, and feel as if I've justified my existance, so there.
Julia, ignoring the fact that I have a gazillion bulbs to plant yet.

The fact that every once in a while I click through the cable guide and here's an episode of BtVS to watch makes me way happier than I would have guessed.
Julia, Glory is being ever so rotten

Q:
What extras do the Buffy DVDs have on them? I lent them 2 weeks ago to a friend from church who has really bad MS (not that there is any "good" MS but she got it at a young age and it progressed rapidly so that about all she has control of his her head/neck.
Apparently Buffy is available on streaming Netflix and I'm guessing she can do that herself via her computer rather than ask her care-giver to deal with the DVDs. So she was curious as to whether the DVDs had extras vs just using Netflix.
She's already a big Dr Who fan and made a point of calling him "that actor who appeared in Dr. Who."

Also not sleeping well, or much at all; I got up to feed the cats at 5:30, went back to bed, and laid there worrying. I'm going to call my mom today and remind her that she has to call the credit union tomorrow, no excuses, or she'll start bouncing caregiver checks in a week or two. She won't believe me. She'll want me to take care of it. I can't; I don't have the authority to mess with her credit union account, and I can't drive up there during the week either, especially when there's Nothing I Can Do. I'm obviously a bad neglectful bitchy child because I can't magically fix all her problems so she can sit on the couch and veg out. I feel .

Apparently Buffy is available on streaming Netflix and I'm guessing she can do that herself via her computer rather than ask her care-giver to deal with the DVDs. So she was curious as to whether the DVDs had extras vs just using Netflix. The extras - purely from memory, contain: ---Interviews with the cast and crew (Joss, writers, etc.). Sometimes the interviews have a theme, like . . . "what was it like to . . ." --Short features about things like the make-up, the fashion, the set, the music, the making of a particular ep. --Still, behind-the-scenes photos --Outtakes (not a lot of those, and not very interesting ones) --The commentary that you can run with the ep. The commentary ranges from very interesting/informative and amusing, to a total waste of time. So, whether or not she would be "missing anything" depends totally on how much of a fan she is. BtVS is probably the only show I've ever watched where it "would make a difference" to me, and I really liked having access to this "behind the scenes" stuff. ?? Who is "him?" Who, or if not . . . then who? (But really, who are you referring to?)

Tried to post the same post twice already. It won't. Something there is that doesn't love my post, or possibly me.
So I'm going to post something else instead. I got the following from a political blog, but the thing I found amusing isn't technically political:
In George W. Bush's new memoir, he says that using torture, "helped break up plots to attack American diplomatic facilities abroad, Heathrow airport and Canary Wharf in London, and multiple targets in the United States."
Without getting into the torture issue, which is a discussion for another thread, I'd just like to say that my first thought was "W saved Torchwood? Who knew?"
Well, I thought it was funny. [/Colbert]
ETA: My other post did post after all. Fascinating.
I'm going to mainline some ibuprofen, see if it helps my massive headache.

Good Sunday morning, S'cubies! It's a gloomy, gray day in Ohio. Have lots of indoor stuff to do, so I guess that is what I will concentrate on. The week looks like it's gonna be pretty much this way, which is not good, because I have to get raking done - well, what will be, will be.
