Well, I may have jumped the gun on that one. I think she said she might be certified by Monday .... so I'm being slightly psychic. I don't care. I want Spring to be certified (even if it's just as a loony!) so I'm jumping on the pre-bandwagon. Alternatives are not acceptable. Hooray for SpringCert! Whenever it happens.

I have a little secret. You all know about the emotional devastation I've endured following the loss of my husband Ian. It was a secret from nearly everyone else. You've seen how terrified I was to "out" myself and how it's helped me now that I finally did. A couple of weeks ago I met someone. A nice someone. A someone who has endured the same things I have and who understands the occasional meltdown because he has them too. A someone who thinks he's found a miracle in ME. We are so perfectly matched in likes, dislikes, taste, outlook, recreational choices--even Buffy! So much so we're beginning to think our late spouses got together in the afterlife and decided to set us up. We spent nearly the whole weekend together, most of Saturday and all day Sunday. I met his family. He met Beth (the only one there at the time). His family likes me. She liked him. Anticipation, how I've missed you. Ah, so great, Diane. Let yourself enjoy. I applaud you: See? You HAVE to be certified! I need to applaud you too! (Actually, I already do. You've done so much already and I do have a good idea what it has cost you. ) This moving on thing? Not easy! "The hardest thing in this world is to live in it. Be brave. Live."

Anybody here care about the Royal Wedding? Only to the extent that Prince William is a cutie. Wow. I don't think so at all. I think he looks like a prize, A#1 snot! So the caring is only as far as the fun of the pageantry, the curiousity about The Dress and the being a widow of a passionately proud British subject.

"Celebrity" adjacency report: My BIL attended the WH prayer breakfast this morning. Was introduced to Pres. O, who apologized for not having read any of his books. Tim gave him the one on social justice. They took a pic of the 2 of them.
Tim is also going to be on TV 4 times this week. One interview with Christiane Amanpour on CNN, another with Laurel somebody on Fox, as part of a History channel documentary on the resurrection and finally on MSNBC with Martin Bashear (Thursday from 2-3 Central time).
It's Easter week and he makes a good (local to NYC) "authority" to ask questions of. And he agrees to these things because the reality of the resurrection is one of those things he feels is central to Christian belief. (more than that has to go the OT thread I'm sure).

Anybody here care about the Royal Wedding? I couldn't care less (royalty - I just don't get it). However, I did get a big kick out of watching this:

The bride seems like she likes to be fashionable, but not overly showy . . . and she's not 19, like Diana was. So I'm not expecting all the poofiness and folderol of Diana's dress. Am definitely curious to see what she chooses.

The bad news: My 19 year old granddaughter is pregnant. This is for here only, obviously. At least until her stepfather is told. We are expecting fireworks of the most unpleasant kind. She is just out of school, has blown off college and the only skill she has right now is bartending. Am I happy? Not so much. I know 19 is meant to be stupid. I just wish she ... well, YOU all know.
The good news: The boyfriend (age 26) is ecstatic. He has pledged to stand by her whether they get marriedf or not. They had decided to live together when her mother moves and were discussing marriage a year or two down the road. So at least she is with someone who is happy for her. Her mother wasn't so lucky. Both times her husbands were very unhappy about it all.
The good news on the Diane front: Not happy about the circumstances. CERTAINLY not happy about having a "great" after my grandma title.
BUT Bob, the nice nice nice man I've been seeing who officially named me his girlfriend in front of his family... I called him and told him I needed some support. No questions asked, he will be at my place at 6.
I knew fantastic men existed. I had one. I saw my mother with one and apparently Beth has found one too. I didn't know you might find TWO in a lifetime. I don't know what I did to deserve it, but I sure am grateful for it.
And--appropos of absolutely nothing and dropping a MAJOR non sequitor into the mix (because my brain is not handling it all right now): James Marsters and Nicolas Brendan will be at DragonCon over Labor Day weekend among a long list of other interesting guests.

San Antonio is HOT. Nashville is less than 500 miles from Chicago. According to weather.com at this exact moment it is 86 degrees in Nashville and 38!!!! degrees in Chicago. That's 1 degree for every 10 miles of distance. Incredible.
