A friend of Vince's, who is a published cartoonist, has a book coming out of his cartoons, and he sent me a note that Vince is featured in one of them! He draws his cartoons from his real life, and his drawings are stylized cartoon versions of how the person actually looks. Anyhow, he sent me a brief note telling me how much he missed Vincent, and about how Vince's appearance in the book (a 400 page collection of his comics) is "based on a dream I had about him." I am going to be getting a copy in December, and I cannot WAIT to see it! ALSO:My elder foster daughter is very good with pottery. She takes a class in it at the HS, and her teacher told me she was her "best student." And she does bring home some great pieces. Anyhow, she saw the last piece Vince made - unfinished (not painted/glazed, just white, unfinished surface only, a little cup). He had not had time to finish it; it was one of the last things he ever did. So she surprised me by saying, "I'll take this to school and finish it for him." This made me cry, but in a good way. I cannot WAIT to see it, either! So two Vince-related things to look forward to - this kind of thing helps me a lot. Mary, how much I wish I could hug you in RL. This made me cry--inthe good way. What a wonderful gift--to have your foster daughter finish Vince's last piece. And then the story of how the book is coming to you by someone who obviously loved him too. How loving and how well-deserved. You are truly awesome in the old-fashioned sense of the word. You do fill me with awe. It is a privilege to know you. Furthermore, you have inspired me. The organization Ian helped found, The Montrose Beer and Gun Club, holds a chili cook-off and charity auction (which he also helped start and in which he actively participated right up till he died) every year for Make a Wish. I have a pile of car designs Ian made in college. I will offer them to the charity today.

Md-season replacement TV. This, "Awake" shows some serious promise. 4 minute preview is one of the best I've ever seen for setting up the entire concept very efficiently and great cast. [Admittedly, alternate realities seems to be the current little black dress -- (go Fringe) for TV scifi.] On the other hand, how NOT to make a trailer. (What was the movie made with the homemade camera and kids in the woods that made you motion sick?)

I've got several people on my LJ flist who are huge Jason Isaacs fans (he played Lucius Malfoy, to start with) so I've heard enough about this that I thought at first it might be on this fall! He's not quite CKR or Mark Sheppard but he shows up all over- The West Wing, for one thing, and a voice on Avatar: The Last Airbender animated series. Julia, speaking of "that guy" John Pyper Ferguson on Fringe last night,

Not sure exactly what he was meaning by it, but Vincent did have an enduring and positive place in the hearts of his friends. He was a bit of a Shaman among them, and one of them told me, "He had such an impact on us, especially our senses of humor. We would have been a totally different group of friends without him." Thanks to everyone for their nice words about this and sharing of their own thoughts/experiences. Girls and I went to the Ohio U football game today - the first time they had ever been to a game. It was cold and rainy, but still fun - the Bobcats won, and they put on quite a show.

Yay for football! Glad you guys had fun. We are watching the Wisconsin/Nebraska game. WI is favored. The Huskers just got their first touchdown.

TIRED and didn't get as much done on the chicken coop as I'd hoped. Long long day and tomorrow will be longer, I fear.
On the other hand, Anna had a craving for Indian food and took off for Curry Corner for all sorts of goodies. For which she can pay because she forgot and payed both of her student loans out of her last paycheck, oops. There's a budget buster for you!
Julia, me, I'm feeling as if I should go lie down... until Wednesday or so.

The Huskers looked good the first quarter. Had a couple of dicey calls against them and then fell apart. They got to know they are going to come up against that kind of thing being newbies in the conference. WI quarterback is very very good tho. Husker secondary is not so good. The refs are pissing me off. Non calls on WI and 8 penalties on the Huskers. They had only a few in their first 3 games total. Hmmmm....

It gives me a good feeling inside, not just about the amazing person your son was, but the kind of wonderful mother you are.

I'm pretty sure there are very few things in life as good as a warm chocolate-chip cookie and a glass of ice-cold milk. One of those few things? When the warm cookie in question has a double stuff Oreo inside of it. ;D
