Which is to say, still no definitive date. But Allison flew out last night ti Istanbul to spend a week with her college roommate, her husband and his family who are missionaries in Turkey.
A few days in Istanbul and then Allison, Danielle and Daniel head back to Amman, Jordan where he is Fulbright scholar and she is 2nd chair in the Jordan National Orchestra.
I do find my children's lives to be fascinating ......

Yay! Made it to the next page!
[homage to Patti]
Let's see: cold, cruise engaged bike accident (she's healing, had her chipped teeth bonded, upper lip still healing but exterior stitches out -- it will still be months I think before totally normal) Tom, Sarah, party, CRV new car fresh cold
What else?
Oh, yeah, last Friday I had breathing tests. Some small improvements but we've (mostly me and the pulmo doc with support from Jim) decided to go ahead with the chemo treatments (another reason I will be thrilled if the wedding isn't until April since treatments will run Sept - Feb) in hopes of possibly actual improvement.
So upcoming:
3 day weekend to catch up on lots and lots of paperwork, emails, sewing, ironing, etc.
Then next Thursday we drive to Chicago.
14 of us are going to the Vanderbilt/Northwestern game on Saturday after "tail-gating" at the Songs house (Tom's in-laws live about 15 minutes from NU).
Jim flies out to Sacramento the next morning but I'll stay around for most of the week. Allison gets back from Jordan on Wed. night and is joining us in Chicago on Friday (the young are crazy). She is being sent to Chicago to film a conference that following week so is just hanging around after the weekend.
So I'll spend some time with all 3 kids! in the same location.
Drive home on Thursday (2 weeks) and have an appointment on Friday, Sept 14 to have an infusion port installed.
Chemo starts the 17th, will keep you all updated

Oh yeah, and Jim turned 60 on Tuesday. The kids got him an iPad but gave it to him back in June for Father's day so we could take it to Alaska with us.
I got him several prints from here: www.skyimagelab.com (Nasa prints)
Fortunately the 2 unframed ones arrived in time for his birthday. The frame one is still in transit.
Made him his annual blueberry cake.

But good stuff too: Tom and Sarah were here over the weekend and we had a great party with lots of friends over. Had their wedding pics on 2 iPads that circulated and everyone got to oooh and aaah. They took a fully loaded (Yay! because anything that goes to Chicago is no longer in my house!) CRV back to Chicago with them. Monday I went to test drive more cars (so far 2 Toyotas, 2 Hyundais, 2 Mazdas and 2 Subarus) and brought home a Subaru Outback overnight to show Jim. They had a lot of 2012s on the lot but I don't like dark colors (in the south that's just nuts) and also don't like a moon-roof (only one we ever had leaked -- and I just don't see the point. If I'm running the AC I don't want the sun on my head.) I looked at Carmax but they had very few Subarus and those they had had high mileage and were still relatively expensive -- which tells me they hold their value, and that the owners hold on to them. So Jim and I agreed on a number and when I took the car back they ran me figures on a silver 2012 and a whilte 2013 (the one I'd had overnight) which was a demo with 3100 miles on it. Bought the white! So much for down-sizing. It's pretty much a station wagon. But so far is getting 4-5 mpg better than the CRV was. Here's hoping it's the last car I'll ever buy (meaning: at about 8000 miles per year I'd like to drive it for 200,000 miles = 25 years!) Montana is full of thirty year old Subarus; Tennessee should be a snap! Julia, really: the oldest ones I saw in Missoula were actually 70-74s and looked pretty good, although the red ones were all tomato soup color.

So far today I have staked the sheep out and pruned the Darlow's Enigma rose and fed the prunings to him, shaken pears down from the Ros Bol and fed them to the cattle, (did three loads of laundry and hung it on the line interrupted by animal and plant things), chopped some low-hanging branches off the hazelnut bush so I could see across the lower field, fed them to the cattle, moved the sheep, fed and watered and picked up eggs from the Hamburgs and the Easter eggers and checked all of the other chickens, and eaten lunch (quite a while ago). Oh: set sprinklers and moved them three times. I need to do a bunch of other stuff but I am shot and thirsty and taking a sit-down.
Julia, I have not mopped the floor where a cold case leaked, washed towels, or transplanted any plants which direly and thoroughly need to be transplanted. Or picked raspberries, oops.

Wow, Sue. Sorry about the cold, but wow, you and yours are busy, busy bees! Thanks for sharing this stuff. Well, when you condense more than a month into a few posts it looks pretty good. Also when you report on 5 lives at once. Day by day it's not nearly so busy as those of you with kids still at home, jobs, animals, hobbies, etc. But, yes, it's nice to write up a list so I can see that I have accomplished some stuff over the summer.

So, if I understand correctly, shows with strong female characters affect women postively but men either positively or not very much; while weak female characters affected women negatively and men...pretty much the same as the strong characters. Seriously, are women so much more affected by fictional events than men are? Diane *not sleeping*

Was going to attempt a heroic sleeping-in today but 1. when my alarm went off I couldn't locate it to turn it off. 2 when I finally turned it off, Franklin rolled on his back and started to snore. 3. Just as I'd steeled myself to poke him gently and tell him he was snoring, the dogs started scratching at the bedroom door to be let out.
Julia, it's hell to be popular

Julia, it's hell to be popular Sympathies. ![](http://www.soulfulspike.com/staff/smileys/love/comfort.gif) Paul was congested and snoring all night, but since I went to bed several hours before he did, I got some sleep. Then at 5AM Patches began inquiring, politely, as to the possibility of breakfast. For some reason, I'm the only person qualified to feed cats in the morning. ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png) I did make him get out of bed at 7 to help wrassle Shadow, who does not appreciate her nice antibiotics. I have been out to breakfast (virtuously brought half home to share), and walked up to the shopping center with Emily. It is hot, and getting hotter. Oh, and Patches got out. Paul, who doesn't understand why the cats have to stay in (because their vet said Shadow had to, you nit), said he'd get her back inside. He did. Then, he apparently teased her just as he was closing the sliding screen door. Patches ran at it so hard she knocked the screen off the rollers and she got out again. He had to get her back inside and fix the door. Serves him right, I say.

Lew just did a internet podcast on the fermented juice that he's started to sell through the local healthfood store. He uses his body as a petri dish. ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png) But he's been getting a bit of a following from the tourists that come through from Chicago. I just wish he'd get his degree in science and maybe some kind of health degree so he can back up his results. ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png) On another note - Go Big Red! I want! I've been making do with health food store bought, but it just ain't the same. I can't tell you how often I've wished it was possible to email eggs! Julia, tonight I got to see the phrase "maundering on" demonstrated by somebody who does better in the movies, alas. I could send you postage paid packaging plus a few bucks. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) Seriously, they charge $4.00/doz locally. I got to get my kid on that chicken coop for the back yard. Fencing first, tho.

I can ship eggs for hatching in interstate commerce, no problem, but it's illegal to do it for eating purposes unless you've got an inspected facility, which: not yet, and then it'll be for sale at the Farmer's Market. This is why we need cheap consumer level teleportation. I'm SHOT, ache everywhere, and today is apparently the every-sixth-Saturday purchase of dry dog food. Julia, which: expensive and heavy
